Austin, Bruce F.   
July 30, 2004 Bruce F. Austin, 40, of Lancaster, OH, formerly of Syracuse, NY,
died Friday, July 30, 2004, at his residence. He was employed by Sonoco in
Lancaster. He is survived by his two sons, Shad Robert Austin of Bremen and
Easton Hunter Austin; mother, Ann K. Austin of Syracuse, NY; three brothers,
Robert T. Austin or Parish, NY, Paul B. (Linda) Austin of N. Syracuse, and
Mitchell D. Austin of Syracuse; sister Merribeth (David) Lewis of Syracuse;
two nieces, Stephanie and Kelsey Austin; and two nephews, Tyler and Trevor
Austin and fiance Christina L. Mack of Lancaster, OH. He was predeceased by
his father, Robert F. Austin. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August
14, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Pitcher Hill Community Church, N. Syracuse. Arrangements

Bailey, William Leslie   
August 9, 2004 William Leslie Bailey, 78, of Otisco Valley, died Monday at
home. Born in Birmingham, England he emigrated to the United States with his
wife and two children in 1958. Served in the Royal Navy in Great Britain and
was injured at Dunkirk in 1947. He worked for Beak and Skiff Apple Orchard for
30 years until an accident caused him to retire at the age of 61. He was also
a 30 year member of the Amber Fire Department. He was predeceased by five
children, John Leslie, Peter Patrick, Colleen Marie, William Alfred and Bill
Andrew Bailey. Survivors: His wife of 55 years the former Barbara W. Elliott;
four daughters, Yvonne Lesley Bailey of Otisco Valley, Patricia Ann Mitchell
of Camillus, Staff Sergeant Tina Louise Bailey and Heather Dawn Ayotte of
Idaho; one son, Michael Edward Bailey of Otisco Valley; two granddaughters,
Ashley Jane and Bridget Marie Mitchell both of Camillus. Services: 10 a.m.
Saturday at Marietta United Christian Church. Burial will be in Pine Ridge

Bouchard, Robert E.   
August 9, 2004 Robert E. Bouchard, 82, of Syracuse, died Monday at his summer
home on Lake Ontario surrounded by his family. Bob worked at Sims Matchplate
in Syracuse for many years. A retired wood patternmaker, his work included the
making of a camera component that was with the first moon landing in 1969. Bob
was a proud veteran of WWII attached to Marine Scout Bombing Squadron 243 and
the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bouchard was also a devoted Catholic, a friend to
Saint (Padre) Pio and a communicant of St. Stephen's Church. Survivors: his
beloved wife of 53 years, Betty Zimmerman Bouchard; daughters, Denise (Roger)
Ham, Robin Bouchard, Virginia (Thomas) Schefter, Linda (Samuel) Cimino, Kelly
(Kevin) Biviano and Jamie Bouchard; son, Robert A. Bouchard; grandchildren,
Camille, Alexandra and Lauren Schefter, Jamie and Amelia Biviano, Eva Bouchard
and Sam Cimino; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Friday at a time

Camp, William F.   
August 8, 2004 William F. Camp, 75, of Fulton, passed on Sunday, August 8,
2004. Born in Marshall, Michigan, he was a graduate of Michigan State
University. He retired from the Nestle Company in 1990 after a career in the
food science field. He was an active member of the Christian Science Church in
Syracuse, and enjoyed music, travel, tennis, and time spent with his children
and grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Joanne M. Camp; son,
David W. Camp (Diane) of Pleasanton, CA; daughter, Carolyn J. Asher (Jordan)
of Endicott; and grandchildren, Owen and Ella Camp, and Matthew, Amy and Sarah
Asher. A memorial service will be held at the Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay
Street, Fulton, on Friday, August 13, 2004, at 3 p.m. Friends may call on the

August 7, 2004 Donald M. Cieloch, 49, of Buffalo, and formerly of Syracuse,
died Saturday. He was born in Syracuse and was a 1970 graduate of West Hill
High School. Don has been employed by General Motors for the past 29 years. He
was predeceased by his parents, Marion and Victoria Cieloch. Survived by two
daughters, Sara and Kathleen Cieloch, both of Camillus. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Basilica of the Sacred

August 10, 2004 Linda A. Gentile Dambro, 77, of North Syracuse, died Tuesday
at Birchwood Nursing Home. She was born in Syracuse and was a life resident.
Linda retired from Syracuse Hancock International Airport in 1982 and prior to
the airport she worked for the N. Syracuse School District for many years. She
was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church and an active member of the Salina
Civic Center Seniors. Survivors: daughters, Donna (John) Satunas of N.
Syracuse, Mary (Kevin) Dambro-Klekosky of Pennellville; grandson, John
(Mischel) Benedict Satunas, III; great-granddaughter, Kristen Becerra of

Syracuse, died Thursday, August 5, 2004. She is survived by her daughter and
son-in-law, Susan and Roger Pasquali, Queens, NY; two grandchildren, John
Pasquali and his wife, Kathleen, Angela Pasquali; niece, Betsy Spencer and her

Hall, Luella   
August 9, 2004 Luella Hall, 90, of Central Square, died Monday, August 9, 2004
in McDonough, Georgia. She was a life-resident of Central Square and was a
Saleswoman for Stanley Home Products for over 50 years. She was a member of
the 1st Baptist Church of Central Square, Central Square Senior Citizens and
its M.I.A. Group. Her husband, Ralph predeceased her in 1987. Surviving are
two daughters, Marion Witherell of Reno, Nevada and Sandra Thomas of
McDonough, Georgia; two sons, Ronald of Central Square and Steven of Hoschton,
Georgia; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four

August 7, 2004 Rosetta Horton, 76, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away August 7,
2004, in Zephyrhills. She is survived by her husband Jerry Horton of
Zephyrhills; two sons, Terry and Duane Horton, both of Martville, New York;
four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Horton was born February 1,
1928, in Harbor Beach, MI, to Mr. and Mrs. Harold LaPeer. She was
owner/operator of Welcome Mat Restaurant until 1980 in Wolcott, NY; in 1980
she was the owner/operator of Cherry Grove Campground until 1990; a member of
the Zephyrhills Moose Lodge, the Zephyrhills Elks Lodge, the Am Vets, and was

by his side at home. He was born in Poland. He worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb

Koski, Robert J.   
August 9, 2004 Robert J. Koski, age 54, of 7956 Vernon Road South, Cicero,
died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. He was born on February 16,
1950 in Rome, NY. He resided in Cicero since 1997, previously living in
Delmar, Rochester, and Cary, NC. He graduated from Pulaski Academy Central
School in 1967. He married Barbara Burnash on May 23, 1970. He was employed by
Gerharz Equipment in East Syracuse for the past 7 years. Surviving are his
wife, Barbara E.; two daughters, Amy L. and her husband, Patrick Doody of
Troy, Amanda L. Koski; and a son, David T. both of Cicero; his mother, Estelle
Koski of N. Syracuse; two brothers, Bernie of Cummings, GA, Ronald of Cicero;
three grandchildren, Andrew, Rachel, and Kayla. Funeral services will be held

square dancer, and enjoyed cruise vacations. Phyllis was predeceased by her
husband Donald R. Margrey in 1977, brother George Moore, and grandson Tony

August 8, 2004 Gladys "Mickey" Murray, 88, of Kensington Pl., Syracuse, NY,
died peacefully at home Sunday. She was the widow of William D. Murray. Born
in Marion, Wisconsin. She was the Valedictorian of Wautoma High School. She
graduated fromKahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN. She was a 1st
Lieutenant in WWII in the army nurse corp. Serving in New Guinea and the
Philippines as a member of the Mayo Clinic Unit. She was a longtime member of
Erwin First United Methodist Church. She served on many boards for the past
fifty years, including Chair of the United Methodist Women. She was an OR
nurse at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital for 20 years. She is survived by her
children, Sandee Murray and her husband, Gerry Chenard of Stratham, NH, Bruce
Murray of Syracuse, Anne Plank and her husband, Rock of Shippensburg, PA; her
sister, Lorraine Stacker of Port Charlotte, FL; seven grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 a.m.

Norderhus, Paul J.   
August 8, 2004 Paul J. Norderhus, 82, died Sunday, August 8, 2004, at his home
in Surfside Beach, S.C. Born July 22, 1922, he was the son of the late Ole and
Mable Norderhus. Paul served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps as a
fighter pilot and was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. He was a
graduate of Montana State College with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, and
was retired from General Electric. Survivors include his beloved wife, Sara
"Madge" Norderhus; one son, Paul J. "Jack" Norderhus of Syracuse, NY; two
daughters, Cynthia Page and her husband Randy of Syracuse, NY, Diana
Oleartchik and her husband Alon of Tel Aviv, Israel; stepdaughter, Barbara
Baker and her husband J.W. of Roanoke, VA; sister, Rose Marie Moore;
grandchildren, Jimmy and Tommy Page, Mindy Norderhus, Max and Tessa
Oleartchik, Jay Baker, and Cathie B. Flora. A memorial service was held

Pedzick, Matthew J.   
August 9, 2004 Matthew J. Pedzick, 91, of Syracuse, died on Monday at St.
Joseph's Hospital. He was a life-resident of Syracuse, an avid Oneida Lake
fisherman, a communicant of Transfiguration Church and a member of the Polish
Home. Mr. Pedzick partici-pated in the merging of the AFL and CIO Unions in
the 1950's. He retired from Carrier and formerly worked at Continental Can Co.
He is predeceased by his wife Sophie who died on June 17, 2004. Survived by
sons, Matthew (Kate) of East Syracuse, Stanley (Mary) of Denver, Colorado;
sisters, Jean Kociela and Mary Baker of Syracuse, Irene Ford of Albany;
brother, Stanley Pedzick of Camillus; grandchildren, Matthew and Stanley
Pedzick and Loretta Buck; and great-grandchildren, Bradley, Brennan and
Chelsea Buck. Funeral services are Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the
Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in Transfiguration

Schneider, Eric   
August 9, 2004 Eric Schneider, 98, of Lakeland, NY, died Monday in the Van
Duyn Home & Hospital, Syracuse. Born in Germany, he retired in 1966 as a Tin
Smith after 30 years with General Motors in Syracuse. He was a member of
St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Liverpool and the Baldwinsville Moose Lodge. He
was the past President and Commissioner of the Lakeside Fire Dept. and an avid
bowler and fisherman. He is prededeased by his wife, Anna Berlinski Schneider
who died in 2003 and a daughther, Doris Delaney who died in 1997. He is
survived by his son, Arnold (Beverly) E. Schneider of Baldwinsville, NY; five
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10
a.m., Friday, August 13, 2004 at the the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St.,
Liverpool. Burial will be in Belle Isle Cemetery. Calling hours will be

Sloane, Ethel   
August 9, 2004 Ethel Sloane, 67, of Bainbridge, passed away after a long and
courageous battle with cancer on August 9. She is survived by her husband
George R. "Dick" Sloane; three sons and daughters-in-law, Henry and Marilyn
DuFour of Toledo, OH, Jeffrey and Deana DuFour of Sidney, NY, Daniel and Mary
DuFour of Baldwinsville, NY; a daughter, Deborah DuFour of Liverpool, NY; one
stepson, Gary Sloane of Norwich, NY; a stepdaughter and her husband, Terri and
Michael Neeley of Clay; eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being made through C.H. Landers Funeral Home in
Sidney. The family will be present for calling hours on Thursday, August 12,
from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. on
Friday, August 13, at the funeral home with Judy Travis of the First Baptist
Church of Bainbridge officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be
made to the American Cancer Society.

Swartfager, Charles K.   
August 9, 2004 Charles K. Swartfager, 76, of Cicero, passed away Monday at
home. Born in Clarion, PA, Mr. Swartfager was a truck driver for 27 years with
ACME Markets and he was also a master electrician. An Air Force veteran, he
was member of the VFW Post in Mattydale, the Cicero American Legion, and also
a member of the Teamsters #317 Retirees. Survivors include three sons, Fred
Rhoades, Charles Swartfager Jr. and Scott Swartfager; 10 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren. Services will be private for the family. There are no
calling hours. There will be a gathering of friends at the family home at 5628
Caughdenoy Rd., Cicero on Thursday at noon. Contributions may be made to
Hospice of Central New York and/or to the SPCA.

Sweetland, S. Albert   
August 8, 2004 S. Albert Sweetland, 77, of Fabius, NY. Mr. Sweetland was a
former member and past Chairman of the Onondaga County Soil and Water
Conservation District, and was active in soil and water conservation at local,
state and national levels. Albert was an avid golfer and a former Senior Ski
Patroller at Toggenburg Ski Center. He retired as owner and operator of the
Sweetland Farms, Fabius, NY. Survived by his wife of 56 years, the former
Sonia Jones; one son, Dale A. (Susan); daughters, Susan Fulmer and Lynne M.
(Douglas) Brandi; six grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ellen LeBeau of
Poinciana, FL; several nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted
Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Skyline Lodge at Highland Forest County Park,
Highland Forest Road, Fabius, NY. Private burial at the Welsh Church Cemetery.

Wilber, Thomas M.   
November 14, 2003 Thomas M. Wilber, 82, formerly of Minoa, North Syracuse and
Hastings, and a graduate of Syracuse University in 1943, who died in Germany
on November 14, 2003, will be re-interred in the United States. He served in
the Pacific as a Company Commander in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War
II. He is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Herold, now of Boston; a
brother, James E. Wilber of Mexico, NY, and Bonita Springs, FL; along with
several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, who will
assemble from around the United States to celebrate his life and the Requiem
Mass. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on August 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St.
Mary Star of the Sea Church, Mexico, New York, followed by burial in the
family plot at St. Mary Cemetery in Minoa. Arrangements are with Harter
