Burke, Russell J. August 12, 2004 Russell J. Burke, 58, of West Colony Pointe, died peacefully Thursday at Syracuse Veterans Administration Hospital. He was a life resident of the Camillus area. Russell served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966-1969. He served two tours in the Vietnam War. Russell was a retired member of Teamsters Local 317. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He has several close aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He was born in New York City and had retired from Darmento Brothers Upholstery in Sheds which he operated with his brother, Anthony. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church in DeRuyter, a former member of the Cortland-Madison BOCES board, former board member of the Madison County Children's Camp, and was a member and past commander of Malcolm Taylor Post 1572 American Legion in New Woodstock. Winans, a longtime resident of Manlius, passed into the arms of the Lord on Thursday. Edward was born in 1921 and married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Sayles, in 1941. Edward was a Navy veteran serving during WWII in the Pacific arena. Although retired in recent years, Edward was founder and former president of Bridgeport Crating Corporation. He was an active member of Eastern Hills Bible Church in Manlius and previously was a founding member of the Kirkville Community Wesleyan Church. Edward also served on the Board of the Fayetteville-Manlius Meals on Wheels. He was predeceased by his son, William O. Winans.
