Miss Battista was born in Oswego and has been a resident of Oswego for most of her life. She retired from General Electric, Syracuse in 1988. Miss Battista was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. She was predeceased by her parents Sylvester and Anna (DeSantis) Battista, and two sisters, Theresa Hibbert and Rose Peterson. Miss Battista is survived by three brothers, Michael Battista, Thomas "Pat" (Rose) Battista, Samuel (Anna) Battista, all of Oswego; three sisters, Carmella Battista, and Frances Hibbert, both of Oswego, and Mary Ann (Bill) Pierce of Fulton; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews. Campbell, 80, of North Syracuse and West Palm Beach, Florida, died Saturday at the Veterans' Medical Center. A native of Ontario, Canada, he served in Burma, India, China, Japan, Korea and various stateside assignments in his 26 yearswith the U.S. Air Force, including World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Campbell retired February 23, 1986, from the United States Post Office at Taft Road, where he had been a trainer and foreign mail clerk. A communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, he also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 030 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3146, Mattydale. He is predeceased by two sisters. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Mary Irene Boudreau; three children: Mark (Jean) Campbell of Central Square, Michelle (Brian) Nemier of Liverpool and Colleen (John) Wright of Cicero; a brother, Angus J. On the Onondaga Na- tion she had been a softball player, Brownie leader, member of its Fire Dept. Devaney, 84, of Fairmount, died Monday at home. He lived in Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada and operated the family farm in Berwick until moving to Fairmount in 1951. He retired from the dairy industry after 40 years commencing at Dairylea in 1989 and was previously employed at Fairbanks Dairy and Crowley Dairy. He also owned and operated Camillus Laundry for 10 years. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and member of NY Horsepullers Assoc. French, Alexander "Sandy" August 22, 2004 Alexander "Sandy" French, 64, of Parish, NY, died August 22, 2004, at his home with his family beside him after a courageous battle with cancer. He graduated from Nottingham High School in 1958. He worked construction and drove truck for several companies. He was camp ranger at the CNYGS Camp Near Wilderness for 11 years. He retired from Clinton's Ditch after 17 years. He played semi-pro football with the Syracuse Storm. He was Cub Master for Pack 112 and Boy Scout Leader with Troops 311 and 3112. Koehler, George A. "Des" August 22, 2004 George A. "Des" Koehler, 82, 106 Charles Avenue, Canastota, died early Sunday morning, August 22, 2004, in the Oneida Healthcare Center, shortly after his admission as a medical patient. Born in Cambridge on August 11, 1922, he was the son of George W. and Mabel Morris Koehler. A resident of Canastota for the past 54 years, Mr. Koehler was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School, Hudson Valley Community College, and attended Syracuse University. He married Jean Marine in Ft. Edward on June 10, 1950. Prior to his retirement in 1984, with 28 years of service, Mr. Koehler was employed with the Carrier Corporation as a designer-draftsman. Previously he was employed with Henney Motors-Oneida Products, formerly located in Canastota. Mr. Koehler was a communicant of St. Agatha's Church, a life member and past commander of the American Legion, William Miller Post #140 in Canastota, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Collamer Post 9596, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Syracuse Chapter #121, a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Oneida Lodge #421, a current director of the Canastota Community Chest, a longtime member of the Casolwood Golf Club, served as a Boy Scout leader for many years, served as president of the Canastota Memorial Association, was an active bowler in numerous bowling leagues in Canastota, and enjoyed his family and Notre Dame University athletics. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Koehler served with the United States Army's 13th Division in the European Theatre, where he was involved in the Omaha Beach invasion and the Battle of the Bulge, suffering extensive injuries and received various battle stars. Prior to his entry into the military, Mr. Koehler was recruited and drafted by the Canadian professional hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Due to his war injuries, he could not continue this pursuit. Surviving besides his wife Jean are two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Dr. Thomas Quaresima of Queensbury and Monica J. Koehler-Sgarlata and Charles "Skip" Sgarlata of Canastota; one son and daughter-in-law, George J. and Wanda Koehler of Utah Beach; seven grandchildren, Brittany and Sophia Koehler, and John, Thomas, Mark, Peter and Laura Quaresima. Mr. MacClurg was an Air Force veteran serving as a jet pilot. He also loved boating. In her early years, Shirley was an executive secretary at Atlantic Richfield. Later she worked for architects, and Trinity Church. Shirley was a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Episcopal Church and the church's Circle V, a former Vestry person, and Altar Guild member. Her first husband George J. Konder died in 1962. Shirley was predeceased by her second husband Stanley P. Maslona, who died in 1999. Survivors include five sons, George C. Konder of Liverpool, Gregory T. Konder of Syracuse, Paul M. She was born in Provo, UT, but moved as a child to Clearwater, FL. Part of a musical family, "Midge" won an award for being the best trumpet player, ages 12-18, in Florida at age 12. While at- tending the U. of Alabama, she took a year off to work as a chief-of-staff to the first woman to serve in the Florida State Legislature, her sister Marylou Baker. Midge attended medical school in Heidelberg, Germany, returning stateside before WWII to enter Syracuse U.'s medical school as the only female student to be accepted at that time. Midge liked to say that she "earned her M.D. the easy way" when she dropped out of school to marry Dr. M. Rowland Mesick. They were married 52 years before his death in 1992. Midge was an active member of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed traveling, reading and "playing" the stock market, and was an avid knitter and sewer for many charitable causes. Midge had a quick and witty sense of humor and an intellect that led to a wide-ranging fascination with learning and doing. Her love and affection will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Midge is survived by her son Martin Lee Mesick of Syracuse; her daughter and son-in-law, Martha "Babs" Mesick Savitt and Robert P.
