"Des" Koehler, 82, 106 Charles Avenue, Canastota, died early Sunday morning, August 22, 2004, in the Oneida Healthcare Center, shortly after his admission as a medical patient. Born in Cambridge on August 11, 1922, he was the son of George W. and Mabel Morris Koehler. A resident of Canastota for the past 54 years, Mr. Koehler was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School, Hudson Valley Community College, and attended Syracuse University. He married Jean Marine in Ft. Edward on June 10, 1950. Prior to his retirement in 1984, with 28 years of service, Mr. Koehler was employed with the Carrier Corporation as a designer-draftsman. Previously he was employed with Henney Motors-Oneida Products, formerly located in Canastota. Mr. Koehler was a communicant of St. Agatha's Church, a life member and past commander of the American Legion, William Miller Post #140 in Canastota, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Collamer Post 9596, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Syracuse Chapter #121, a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Oneida Lodge #421, a current director of the Canastota Community Chest, a longtime member of the Casolwood Golf Club, served as a Boy Scout leader for many years, served as president of the Canastota Memorial Association, was an active bowler in numerous bowling leagues in Canastota, and enjoyed his family and Notre Dame University athletics. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Koehler served with the United States Army's 13th Division in the European Theatre, where he was involved in the Utah Beach invasion and the Battle of the Bulge, suffering extensive injuries and received various battle stars. Prior to his entry into the military, Mr. Koehler was recruited and drafted by the Canadian professional hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Due to his war injuries, he could not continue this pursuit. Surviving besides his wife Jean are two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Dr. Thomas Quaresima of Queensbury and Monica J. Koehler-Sgarlata and Charles "Skip" Sgarlata of Canastota; one son and daughter-in-law, George J. and Wanda Koehler of Canastota; seven grandchildren, Brittany and Sophia Koehler, and John, Thomas, Mark, Peter and Laura Quaresima. Maurer, 93, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at Community General Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Central Tech and attended Syracuse University. His childhood was spent at his family owned Longbranch Amusement Park. He was recognized as one of the nation's top bowlers and along with his father Bernie is a member of the Syracuse Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He retired from the Carrier Corp. in 1975 and was the past president of the Carrier Recreation Club. He was also a member and former director of Bellevue Country Club and the Purchasing Management Association. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and was an usher at St. Ann's Church and Most Holy Rosary. He had also been a member of the Town of Onondaga Senior Citizen's Group. "Bill" Truman August 21, 2004 William "Bill" H.M. Truman, 62, of Melvin Village, NH, died at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH, on Saturday, August 21, 2004, from complications due to a stroke. He was married to Diana L. Truman who died Sunday, August 22, 2004. Mr. Truman was born August 9, 1942, in Evanston, IL, the son of Francis and Charlotte (Hinds) Truman. Mr. Truman was a graduate of Kimball Union Academy, Meriden, NH, 1961, and graduated from St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY in 1965. He was an avid golfer and tennis player, yachtsman, and loved being a private pilot. Mr. Truman enjoyed life and his family and friends, organizing many golf outings for his golfing buddies. He had a warm, easy smile and a sharp sense of humor. Mr. Truman was self employed as an investor. Survivors include his three daughters, Jennifer B. Truman of Gilford, NH, Nicole D.T. Harding and her husband Jeffrey of Meredith, NH, and Melanie B. Truman of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Madeline Truman of Orlando, FL, and Eleanor Harding and Melanie Harding, both of Meredith, NH; and two nephews, Edward Cummings and his wife Rhonda, and Williams Cummings, all of Tucson, AZ. Survivors also include his recently discovered birth family siblings, Jackie Heddleston, Richard Barron, Ronnie Liebig and Randy Liebig. In addition to his parents, Mr. Truman was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Cummings. Calling hours for Mr. and Mrs. Truman will be held on Friday, August 27, 2004, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. A funeral service for Mr. and Mrs. Truman will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH. Wilson, 68, of Pennellville, formerly of Barker, passed away August 18 at her home. She was born in Attica, NY, and graduated from Barker Central School. She was actively involved in the Barker Alumni Association. Surviving: husband of 48 years, Robert G.
