Born, raised, and educated in Illinois, Samuel Fetters was a professor of law for over 30 years. Professor Fetters taught at Syracuse UniversityLaw School for 26 years where he was the Crandall Melvin Chair in Trusts and Estates. Professor Fetters is survived by three daughters, Deborah Fetters of Altadena, CA, Tracy Fetters of San Francisco and Kim Fetters of Syracuse; and her husband, Eric Prager; one sister, Eleanor Espensen of Santa Monica, California. August 25, 2004 Daisy K. Finnerty, of Williamstown, 92, passed away, August 25, 2004. She was born April 30, 1912, in Williamstown, NY, a daughter of Patrick and Minnie Case Hale. On November 11, 1931, she married James F. Finnerty, he passed away May 8, 1961. Mrs. Finnerty was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown and was active in its Altar Rosary Society. She was a former president and member of the Williamstown Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary and served as the Williamstown Town Clerk, as well as being a former Tax Collector. Mr. Hall was formerly active in Scouting and was a Communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Minetto. Mr. Hall served in the US Navy. He was a native and life-resident of Syracuse. John retired after several years of employment with the former Syracuse Structural Steel Company. As an infant, he won first place in the Syracuse's Most Beautiful Baby Contest. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Miner, Howard Ronald August 25, 2004 Howard Ronald Miner, 72, of New Hartford, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born February 19, 1932 in Syracuse son of Howard and Ivah Marshall Miner. He graduated from Syracuse Central High School and Hartwick College and served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. In 1954 he married S. Joan Haithwaite in White Plains. They celebrated their 50th anniversary this past June 4, 2004. Mr. Miner started as a cost accountant at the Radio Receiver Department at General Electric in Utica. He became Business Systems Manager and was instrumental in establishing the Computer Systems Departments in Hong Kong and Singapore. He retired from the GE Audio Electronics Department in Syracuse. Mr. Miner was also an accomplished musician having played the saxophone and clarinet. He played first clarinet with the All City Syracuse Orchestra and played with the Stan Collela Orchestra in Syracuse for many years. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Diane Hennessy of Frederick, MD; two sons, Ken Miner of Greensboro, NC and Tom Miner of New Hartford and his girl friend, Rose Colangelo and three grandchildren, Chris Zarnock, Justin Miner and Danielle Hennessy. He also leaves a brother and sister-in-law, David and Evelyn Miner of Bridgeport, NY; a sister-in-law, Maggie Miner of Camillus, several nieces and nephews and an ever faithful canine companion, Clancy. He was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Miner and two brothers, and a sister-in-law, Marshall and Peg Miner and Charles Miner. Nieznalski died in Sylmar, CA. He was born on September 16, 1918. He was in the US Army WWII, 1944 to 1946. He was a Los Angeles Police Officer from 1947 to 1973. Parkes, 71, of Camillus, died peacefully at home on Tuesday. Born in Rochester, she had lived in Camillus for 39 years. She was employed by On Bank for 15 years until retiring in June 1991. Joan was also formerly employed by the Society forPrevention of Cruelty to Children in Rochester for three years. In 1955 she received a BA in Sociology from Nazareth College and was a member of Nazareth College Alumni Association and Nazareth Academy Alumni. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and member of Women in Adoration, First Friday Adoration and Bereavement Committee. She also taught CCD at Holy Family. She was a member of Enable and chairman of American Cancer Society (Town of Camillus) for 10 years. Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Philip L. Parkes; two daughters, Ann (Robert) Megnin of Hunter and Theresa M. Parkes of Irvine, CA; two sons, Dr. P. He lived in Eastwood until moving to Camillus 23 years ago. Bob was a teacher at Central Tech and Cororan High School for 17 years, retiring in 1984. He also was formerly employed by Onondaga Printing for 19 years. A veteran of WW II, he was a 1938 graduate of Eastwood High School and a 1966 graduate of Oswego College. He was a communicant of Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A member of American Legion in Eastwood, he was a former coach for Mattydale Babe Ruth. He was a volunteer fireman and life member for Mattydale Fire Department. Bob was a volunteer for Literacy Volunteer of Greater Syracuse and Community-General Hospital as well as a charter member of Arrowhead Golf League. He was predeceased by two brothers, Forrest and Bruce. She was born April 12, 1926 in Syracuse, and lived in Syracuse, Baldwinsville and Liverpool until four years ago when she moved to Florida to be nearher son. She was retired and last employed at the ON-Center in Syracuse. She was an avid collector of dolls and knitted very elaborate quilts which she gave away to family and friends. She attended North High School and was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Saccocci; her parents, James and Carmella Zinga; and two brothers, Bobby and Tony Zinga. Survived by her two brothers, Joseph and Richard Zinga; two sons, Joseph, Jr. and Daniel Saccocci; and a daughter, Bernadette Rice. She also has seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was an elementary and math lab teacher in the No. Syracuse School District for many years, retiring in 1991.Gary was an avid computer enthusiast. Wheeler, 90, of Jordan, NY, died at home August 26. Born in Jordan, NY he lived his entire life on the family farm. He graduated from Jordan High School and was an active dairy farmer until retirement. Phillip is predeceased by his parents, Orville and Irma Wheeler; a brother, Clair Wheeler; and sister, Kate Kimak. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, S. Elizabeth Wheeler; sisters, Elsae Chamberlin of York, PA and Marion Christopher of Weedsport NY; two sons, and daughters-in-law, Clair and Heide Wheeler of Houston, Texas and Dr. Dale Wheeler and Pamela Bajdas of Buffalo, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Dick Compson of Clinton NY; grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Wheeler, Richard and J.P. Compson, Susan Tullock; and four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Phil was active in multiple community organizations including the Boy Scouts, serving on the Elbridge Town Board and Planning Board, working with Project Rose for eight years and he was a Deacon in the Elbridge Community Church. He received recognition for his 33 years of community service. After retirement he enjoyed playing golf regularly and world travel with his wife. A memorial service is planned, details will follow.
