She retired from Fayetteville-Manlius High School. She was a member of the Manlius Fire Department Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 141 Auxiliary, Manlius. Her husband, Charles G. Bloss, Sr. died in 1998. Survivors: eight children, Charles Jr. of Manlius, Maxine Pollard of Minoa, Carl of Manlius, Mark of Manlius, Bridget Wossner of New London, Dale of Syracuse, Duane of Sylvan Beach, and David of Manlius; a sister, Louise DuPree of Fayetteville; three brothers, James Cross of North Bay, Richard Cross of Howlett Hill, and Donald Cross of Auburn, WA; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Byrne Keough, 94, of 25-27 Sherman Street, Auburn, NY, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at the Auburn Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Auburn Business School, and a former Cayuga County Elections Inspector for many years. Surviving: are children, William J. Keough, Canton, MI, Marty D. Keough, Auburn, Joan M. Kehoski, Auburn, Ann Keough, Yorba Linda, CA, Mary Turek, King Ferry, NY; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, John Byrne, Auburn; one sister-in-law, Mary Byrne, Auburn. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Alphonsus Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Latham, Marie August 26, 2004 Marie Latham, of 35 Evergreen St., Cortland, NY, passed away, Thursday, August 26, 2004 in Cortland Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Born, December 29, 1912 in Hartheim, Germany, Marie was the daughter of Valentin (no e, on the end) and Maria Obrist Imm. Upon leaving Germany Marie resided in Rochester and Middletown before settling in Cortland in 1944. Marie was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of The Americas Court #919, Cortland and was the recipient of the Catholic Daughter of the Year award. she was a member of the Mother's Club at St. Mary's School and was also an active supporter of the school, and for 31 years she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Cortland Memorial Hospital. Marie found great joy and pride in her family and their many activities. She is survived by a son, Richard W. Latham of Cortland; two daughters, Kathleen (James) Meyer of Scotch Plains, New Jersey and Linda Anne Helms of Virgil; a brother, Carl Imm of Victor, NY; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a dear friend, Nancy Lang and several nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Latham in 2000 and by brothers, Valentine (with an e) and Henry Imm, and a son-in-law, John R. Helms. Prayer services will be conducted on Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Chapel of Riccardi Funeral Home, 69 N. Main St., Cortland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. John P. Fenlon serving as celebrant. Prayers of committal will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Cortland. The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Born in Belfast, Ireland, she was previously employed by Flah & Co. and she retired from Community General Hospital as a Supervisor of Unit Clerks. She was a long term volunteer at Community General Hospital, a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and St. Ann's Guild. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1983. She is survived by her two daughters, Judith Doherty of Endicott and Jean Kimber of Jamesville; one sister, Esme McBride of Binghamton; three grandchildren, Michael Kimber of Ann Arbor, MI, , Leslie O'Reilly of Brookline, MA and Mark Doherty of Barneveld; one great-grandson, William Kimber of Ann Arbor, MI. Shutt, 98, of Stroudsburg, PA, in the Poconos, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004. Born on March 22, 1906, he was raised in Boalsburg, PA and attended Franklin and Marshall College on an athletic scholarship, graduating in1930. In college, he was a 10-letter athlete, and in 1932 went on to win the NCAA wrestling championship, as well as competing in the Olympic pre-trials. He always worked vigorously in improve society and eliminate social injustice. All his life he worked tirelessly helping others to have opportunity to improve themselves in any way they could. He married Marian Hunter in 1934 and raised three daughters. In 1967, he married Dorothy Schloss and moved to Boca Raton, FL. Among his many accomplishments throughout his life; at age 85, the Handgun Control gave him its national Brady Award for his outstanding volunteer service. He leaves three daughters, Linda Salmon of Henryville, PA, Barbara Beckwith of Cambridge, MA and Joanne Weiss of Baldwinsville; seven grandchildren including Adam and Dana Weiss of Baldwinsville; seven great-grandchildren and one niece, Marjorie Keller of Bellefonte, PA. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary McAlevy and Minnie Callahan. A memorial celebration of his life will be held.
