Briggs, Jean Stewart   
August 28, 2004 Jean Stewart Briggs, 75, of Phoenix, died Saturday. Born in
LaTrobe, PA, October 15, 1928, she was formerly of New Jersey and had lived in
the Phoenix area for eight years. She attended Syracuse schools and graduated
with a major in his-tory from Syracuse University. She was office manager for
DelMonte Foods and Food Enterprises in Fairlawn, NJ, retiring in 1996. Jean
married Neil A. Briggs in 1970, and he died of cancer in 1998. She was a
member of the Rotary Club of Syracuse. Surviving is her son, Neil Briggs Jr.
of Phoenix. Services: 8 p.m. Tuesday from Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral
Home, 431 Main St., Rte. 57, Phoenix. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday,

Buss, William C.   
August 28, 2004 William C. Buss, 43, of Lacona, died Saturday, August 28,
2004, at the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital, Watertown, after a sudden
illness at home. Born in Syracuse, he had lived in the town of Hastings most
of his life before moving to Lacona about three years ago. He was a
truckdriver for Arley Wholesale Co., Liverpool, and had previously worked as
security at Tri-State Auto Auction, Cicero. Surviving are his parents, James
Buss of Mallory and Joanne Buss of Hastings; two sisters, Lee Dunham of West
Monroe and Theresa Pinero of Liverpool; a stepbrother, Todd Paterson of Bath,
NY; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday,
Sept. 1, 2004, at Watson Funeral Home, Inc., 631 So. Main St., Central Square,
with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mallory. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the
Lacona Volunteer Fire Department.

Campolieto, Rose A. (Sunser)   
August 28, 2004 Rose A. Campolieto, 84, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday,
August 28, with her family by her side. Rose was a communicant of St. Peter's
Church and a member of the Young At Heart Society. She was predeceased by her
husband Domi-nic in 1978 and her son Donald in 2004. Surviving are one
brother, Lawrence Sunser of Syracuse; one sister, Frances (Sunser) Chillemi of
Liverpool; two grandchildren, Donald and Jennifer Campolieto, both of
Liverpool; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on
Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery
Mausoleum. There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made in her honor
to the Joslin Diabetes Center of Syracuse.

Decker, Rita I. Kompf   
August 28, 2004 Rita I. Kompf Decker, 76, of Manlius, died at Community
Hospital after a long illness. A native of Syracuse, she graduated from Most
Holy Rosary High School. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service and then
became a homemaker.She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, Manlius, and was
a former member of its Altar Society. She was a former member and EMT of the
Manlius Ambulance Corps. She was a member of the Manlius Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors: her husband of 53 years, Edward E.; a son, William W. Decker of
Manlius; a daughter, Sharon M. Decker of NYC; a granddaughter, Trista E.
Decker of Manlius; and a sister, Mary Jane Wise of North Syracuse. Funeral
Services: 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Newell-Fay Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St.
Ann's Church. Burial: Manlius Village Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7

Desimone, Sal D. (Sylvester)   
D. Desimone August 28, 2004 Sal (Sylvester) D. Desimone, 74, of North
Syracuse, passed away on Saturday unexpectedly. Born July 1, 1930, in
Waterbury, CT, Sal moved to the Syracuse area at age 16. Sal was the owner of
Desimone's Service located on S. Bay Rd. for many years.He also worked at GE
and has enjoyed many years of retirement. He was a communicant of St. Rose of
Lima Church and a 4th degree Bishop Curley Knight of Columbus. He is survived
by his wife, Mary Lynn Desimone; two daughters, Darlene (Ron) Grethel and
Danette Desimone; a son, Ernest Desimone; a stepson, Commander Robert Moak II,
USNR; his loving canine, Jimmy; two brothers, Ernest L. of No. Syracuse and
William of Ocala, FL; a brother-in-law, Don Plantz; seven grandchildren; many
nieces, nephews and godchildren. Sal was predeceased by his parents Ernest and
Marie; a brother Robert; and a sister, Josephine Plantz. Funeral services will
be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Maurer Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St.
Rose of Lima Church. Burial: Woodlawn Sunset Mausoleum. Calling hours are

Feil, Beatrice I. Wright   
August 28, 2004 Beatrice I. Wright Feil, 90, of Syracuse, died Saturday at
Birchwood Health Care Center. She was born in Perry, NY, and resided in
Syracuse most of her life. Mrs. Feil had worked for the Community Chest and in
the accounting department ofthe YMCA. She was a former member of the Pastime
Athletic Club, was an avid bowler in several leagues and also enjoyed golfing.
Her husband of 52 years, Francis A. "Frank" Feil, predeceased her on January
25, 2001. A brother, George, was declared missing in action during WWII and a
sister, Lillian Yost, predeceased her on March 17, 1994. Surviving are her
daughter, Teri L. (Ed) Perry of Liverpool, and a grandson. Funeral services
will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Fergerson Funeral Home with entombment following
in the Sunset Chapel Mausoleum of Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be
from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, 215 South Main Street, North

surrounded by her family. Born in Syracuse, she was a life resident and a
communicant of Holy Family Church. Jennie retired in 1980 after 35 years with
the United States government. Sheworked at the air base in Mattydale and
Veterans Hospitals in Syracuse and Washington. Survivors: her sisters,
Rosalind M. Ritter of Fairmount and Rae Anne Grosso-Bentley of Lyncourt;
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services: Wednesday at FARONE & SON and

August 26, 2004 Herbert Lee "Papa Doo" Hunt Sr., 72, of 1207 Almond St.,
departed this life Thursday at James Square Nursing Home. He leaves to cherish
his memory, five daughters: Diane, Caroline, Norma, Deidra Hunt and Marilyn
Killings, all ofSyracuse; two sons, Herbert Jr. of Washington, DC, and Albert
of Fayetteville, NC; his former wife, Alice Bell of Mattydale, NY; three
sisters: Vernell Brown of Kings Mt., NC, Margaret Young of Gastonia, NC, and
Audrey Sanders of Shelby, NC; two brothers, Charles Hunt of Cleveland, OH, and
Gilbert Hunt of Shelby, NC; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

August 27, 2004 Virginia Macri Leonardo, 80, of Lyncourt, died Friday at St.
Joseph's Hospital. Born in Syracuse, she was a life resident and retired from
Killian Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Leonardo was a communicant of St. Daniel's
Church and a member of St.Theresa's Society and the Wisdom Group. Her husband
Harry died in 1989. Survivors: her daughter, Lucille (Richard) Gunn of
Houston, Texas; sons: Harry (Laurie) of Syracuse, Richard (Peg) of Liverpool
and Robert of Syracuse; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;
sister, Connie Casella of Syracuse; brother-in-law, Leo DiToma of Syracuse;

Louise, Edith L. "Ede"   
August 28, 2004 Edith L. "Ede" Louise, 86, formerly of Onondaga Hill, died
Saturday at James Square Health & Rehabilitation Centre. Born in Skaneateles,
Edith was a 1937 graduate of Skaneateles High School. She lived many years in
Auburn before movingto Onondaga Hill in 1956. Edith worked many years for
Marcellus Central School at Kasson Road, retiring in 1980. She was a member of
the town of Onondaga Senior Citizens. Her husband Fred J. died in 1981.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen Russell of Johnson City, TN, and Patricia
Korbas of Camillus; one sister, Carol Shepard of St. Catherines, Ontario,
Canada; and two granddaughters, Allison and Traci. Services will be Wednesday
at 9 a.m. from Ryan Funeral Home, Marcellus, and 9:30 a.m. in St. Francis
Xavier Church, Marcellus. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

Moore, Ruth (Kilpatrick)   
August 27, 2004 Mrs. Ruth (Kilpatrick) Moore, 84, formerly of Canastota, died
on Friday, August 27, 2004, at the home of her daughter, where she had lived
the past two years. Ruth was born on January 16, 1920, in Malden, MA, the
daughter of Harold Archi-bald and Emma Fairfield Kilpatrick. She moved to
Canastota with her two daughters from her beloved New England upon her
marriage to Forster H. Moore in 1947. Mr. Moore died in 1983. Surviving are a
son, Brett Moore, and his wife Denise of Canastota; three daughters: Gail Snow
Hood and husband Gary of Oneida, Sally Snow Gates and husband Reeder of
Ithaca, and Bette Moore Minarski and husband David of Dryden; a stepson and
daughter-in-law, James and Donalyn Moore of Hopewell Junction; two
stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Moore Corriveau and husband Ray of
Manchester, NH, and Helen Moore Day and husband Norman of AZ; two brothers and
a sister-in-law, Robert Kilpatrick of Malden, MA, and Douglas and Marion
Kilpatrick of Lynn, MA; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven
great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday,
