November 27, 2004 John D. Anthony, 91, of Solvay, passed away Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was a life resident of Solvay. John worked at Crucible Steel and Camillus Cutlery before spending 20 years at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital working as a Couri-er, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Solvay Civil Defense Auxiliary Police and Code Enforcement Officer for the Village of Solvay for several years, a member of the Solvay Seniors, past member of the Solvay Tigers AC, communicant and usher of St. Cecilia's Church and member of its Holy Name Society. John was known locally for organizing and hosting several bus groups to the Shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec, Canada. For several years, trips were made during the summer and in the winter for the "Winter Carnivale". Surviving are his wife of 71 years, the former Christine DeRito; daughter and son-in-law, Anne Marie and Michael Masterpole, of Solvay; son and daughter-in-law, Ken M. and Sandy Anthony, Sr., of Solvay; a brother Anthony P. Anthony, of Solvay; a sister, Joan Puso, of Cliffside Park, NJ; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A native of Syracuse Judi graduated in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Union College in Schenectady and resided there until this year when she returned to Syracuse. She retired in 1992 after 32 years as the project manager of Human Resources in the electronics division of the General Electric Co. Her father, Joseph Arendos predeceased her this year and her mother, Marjory Arendos is living in Clearwater, FL. Also surviving are several cousins including Peggy Watson of Camillus, Carol Kruger of N. Syracuse and Dorothy Ciciarelli of Clay. Chloe studied art at Green Mt. College in Vermont. After moving to Syracuse, she was a mother andhomemaker. She was a legal secretary for the City of Syracuse Corp. Counsel. Her former husband, Randall E. Brune, died in 2001. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Syracuse University in 1958 and performed her senior recital in the Crouse Auditorium in the fall of 1957. She had also studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Ms. Chamberlain retired after more than 40 years as an operator with ATT and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She had done volunteer work at various organizations, was a member of James Street United Methodist Church, and was a member of the D.A.R. She is survived by her brother, William J. Chamberlain of Connecticut; sister, Marilyn C. Johnson of Pennsylvania; nephew, David K. Johnson of Colorado; nieces, Elizabeth A. Bailey of Alaska, Carolyn A. Grapsas of New Mexico; three great-nephews in New Mexico and several cousins including Norma Holava, Ronald Holava, Diane Robinson all of Syracuse. Born in Henreyetta, OK, he was employed by Budweiser for 20 years and was previously retired from Coke Cola. Rusty was a Hall of Fame Bowler with a lifetime of achieve-ments. His immense love of the game gave him the pride and ability to help others. He was a Navy Veteran. He is predeceased by his father, Jim Clifton who died in 1987. He is survived by his mother, Helen Clifton; two sons, David Clifton and Frank C. Clifton; four brothers, Frank E. Colomb, James Morey November 30, 2004 James Morey Colomb, 87, formerly of Wright Avenue, Mattydale, died Tuesday at Birchwood Health Care Center. He was World War II Army veteran and a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale. He retired in 1972 after 37 years from the A & P stores where he had been a manager. Mr. Colomb was a member of American Legion Post 1832, Mattydale and Disabled American Veterans' Chapter 31. He was a former member of Wildwood Golf Course and Poolbrook Golf Course and was a volunteer at Birchwood Health Care Center. The former Ruth Walsh, his wife of 60 years, predeceased him on January 18, 2003. Surviving are three children, Timothy J. (Joanne) of North Syracuse, John T. (Lynda) of Glastonbury, CT and J. Gibbs, Gerald L. November 29, 2004 Gerald L. "Jerry" Gibbs, 80, of Phoenix and formerly of North Syracuse died Monday at the Veteran's Medical Center. He was a World War II US Army veteran who served in Italy. He retired in 1990 as a wire designer for General Electric and was adriver for Ross Limousine. Mr. Gibbs was a member and Past Master of Memorial Lodge No. 648 F&AM and a 32 degree member of the Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Syracuse. He was a life-member and Commander from 1979 to 1981 of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9596 and Central New York Council Commander in 1984. He was an avid bowler and a member of both mixed and classic leagues. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Barbara J.; seven children, Charles Gibbs of Rainbow Lake, NY, Gerald Gibbs, Jr. of Pennsylvania, Suzanne Falise of Seneca Falls, NY, David Gibbs of Mt. Mary retired from her last position as library assistant at Nottingham High School in 1982. She was predeceased by her first husband, Syracuse police officer James M. Considine. Kerchner died October 23, 2004. She was a graduate of Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA and received a Masters Degree in education from SUNY Cortland. She had been an elementary school teacher in Skaneateles and retired from Jordan Elbridge Elementary School in 1995. She was a member of the Skaneateles First Presbyterian Church and the Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg, PA. "Jack" November 27, 2004 H.J. "Jack" Kreigbaum, 67, of Ocala, FL, died suddenly Saturday, November 27, 2004. He was born in Cortland, NY, and was raised in Liverpool, and had resided in Cazenovia for 15 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Jack was the former owner of Kreig Kitchens and Onondaga Laminates. He was a member of the Knights of the Cross. He was a sports car racer for many years and a member of Sports Car Club of America. He operated a boat marina in Florida and was an avid boater. He is survived by three daughters, Nancy O'Neil of Liverpool, Sarah K. Kreigbaum of Chittenango, and Amy Sattler of Liverpool; two sons, James A. of Syracuse and Jon L. of Wampsville; four grandchildren; and a longtime friend and companion, Mary Fedor of Liverpool. Mrs. Sotherden was born in Syracuse on March 2, 1939, where she was raised and graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Donald L. Sotherden on August 31, 1955, in Syracuse. She had resided in Norfolk for 39 years, and moved to Vevay on July 25, 2004, after the death of her husband on July 9, 2004. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna (Dozych) Cosselman, and her brother Charles Cosselman.
