Aldrich, Doris G.   
December 4, 2004 Doris G. Aldrich, 95, formerly of Elbridge, died Saturday in
Van Duyn Home & Hospital. Born in Ogdensburg, Mrs. Aldrich moved to Elbridge
in 1942. She was formerly employed at General Electric in Auburn. Mrs. Aldrich
was the widow of E. Harold Aldrich, who died in 1993. She was also predeceased
by four sisters and four brothers. Surviving are two sons, Richard H.
(Barbara) Aldrich of Skaneateles Falls and Ronald E. (Laura) Aldrich of
Marcellus; a daughter, Beverly A. Aldrich of San Francisco; six grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be 6 p.m. Monday at Bush Funeral
Home, Elbridge. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Calling hours will be
3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 120 East Main Street, Elbridge.

Bovee III, Philip   
November 24, 2004 Philip Bovee III went peacefully to our Lord on Wednesday,
November 24, 2004, after a courageous and exhausting battle with cancer. Phil
died at home surrounded by love. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m.
on Monday, December6, 2004, at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. Officiating
will be The Very Reverend M. L. Agnew, Jr., Dean of St. Mark's. An interment
will follow in the summer of 2005 at the family plot, Mexico Village Cemetery,
Mexico, New York. Phil was born on June 2, 1954, in Syracuse, New York. He was
baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Church of Syracuse, NY. Phil was
preceded in death by his parents, Philip Santo Bovee II and Mrs. Linda Curro
Albino; his sisters, Donna Marie Bovee and Melissa Flora. Survivors include
his sister, Cynthia Ann Bos and husband Neil of Shreveport, LA; his sons,
Brent Cory Bovee of Syracuse, NY, Philip Santo Bovee IV of Schenectady, NY;
their mother, Carla Bovee Sgroi of Syracuse, NY; three nephews and three
nieces. He will be missed by his many loving cousins, aunts, uncles, family
and friends throughout the country. Phil was a skilled carpenter and talented
craftsman. He left examples of his meticulous designs in the various places he
resided, which included upstate New York, Los Angeles and Shreveport. He will
be remembered especially for his wonderful sense of humor, his encyclopedic
knowledge of history and world news, his love of horses, cats, gardening,
reading and his incredible desire to live life to the fullest with his family
and friends even in his final days. In lieu of flowers the family requests
that memorials be made to the Willis-Knighton Hospice, 3300 Albert Bicknell
Drive, Suite 3, Shreveport, LA 71103 or St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, 908
Rutherford, Shreveport, LA 71104. The family would like to express their

Willis-Knighton Hospice, Dr. Duncan Savage and staff at St. Peter's Cancer

Radiation Oncology Clinic in Schenectady, NY (you always made him smile), Red

Boycheck, Catherine   
December 2, 2004 Catherine Barrett Boycheck, 70, of Syracuse, died on Thursday
at Crouse Hospital. She had retired after 30 years of service from the
Veterans Hospital in Syracuse. She was an Air Force veteran with the 174th,
was activated during the Berlin Wall Crisis, and was a member of the 174th
Alumni Group. She was a life member of the American Legion Post 1276 and a
member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was the Boys State Chairperson and advisor
to the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 1276. She was a communicant of St.
Daniel's Church and a member of the Wisdom People and the Mary Martha Society.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert who died in 1981. Survived by her
daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and Patrick Brennan of Syracuse; son and
daughter-in-law, Robert "B.J." and Sian of Baldwinsville; one grandson,
Matthew Barrett Boycheck; one niece, two nephews, and several cousins. Funeral
services are Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral
Home and at 12:10 p.m. in St. Daniel's Church. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Calling hours are Sunday from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home, 3111

December 2, 2004 Irene "Ida B." Brown, 63, of 145 W. Lafayette Ave., passed
away peacefully Thursday at home, surrounded by family and loved ones. She
leaves to cherish her memory her husband Thomas Brown Sr. of Tuskegee, AL; one
daughter, Charlotte M.Brown of Syracuse; four sons: Thomas Jr. and William
Brown, both of Syracuse; Timothy Brown of Auburn, AL; and Clifford Brown of
Tuskegee, AL; one goddaughter, Josette Townsend of Syracuse; her companion of
19 years, Roy Page Sr. of Syracuse; three stepchildren: Linda, Jimmie and Roy

Collins and Anna Brown, both of Tuskegee, AL; and Ellarene Hardy of

Burek III, Michael   
December 2, 2004 Michael Burek III, 61, of Cicero, passed away December 2,
2004, in University Hospital. A native of Utica, he resided in Syracuse for
many years. He was a graduate of Niagara University and served as a Lt. in the
U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He wasemployed as a financial manager by Kaman
Industrial Technology for 25 years. He is survived by two sons, Michael J.
Burek of Skippack, PA, and Mark D. Burek of Fairport, NY; a daughter,
Catherine A. Burek of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Lance Evan and Reese
Burek; a sister, Marsha Kukowski of Utica; two nieces and a nephew. Funeral

Craig, Benjamin John   
December 4, 2004 Benjamin John Craig, 27, of LaFayette, died Saturday at his
parents' home in Tully. Ben was a 1996 graduate of Tully High School. Ben was
employed as a laborer with Atlas Seamless Rain Gutter, Co., in East Syracuse.
He was a member of the Razorback Hunting Club in Old Forge and an avid
outdoorsman. Surviving are his wife of one year, the former Mariah K. Wheeler;
a daughter, Ashlynn; a son, Wesley; his parents, Rodney and Susan Craig of
Tully; two brothers, Jonathan and Joshua Craig, both of Syracuse; many aunts,

Crowell, Linda Ann   
December 3, 2004 Linda Ann Crowell, 63, of Cobblestone Apts., Cicero, died
Friday following a lengthy illness. Born February 1941, she was a lifetime
resident of Cicero and a 1959 graduate of North Syracuse Central School
District. Linda retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb, the former Sweetheart
Market and Hancock Airport Gift Shops. Linda was predeceased by her parents,
Charles and Dorothy Grunder Crowell, and brothers, Charles Jr. and Howard.
Linda is survived by cousin Eleanor (John) Abulencia and many friends and

Fenton, Edna M.   
December 2, 2004 Edna M. Fenton, 83, of County Rd. 28, Shortsville, died
December 2, 2004, at her home. Born in Watrous, Pennsylvania, she was a
graduate of Houghton College, class of 1944. She married Sidney B. Fenton in
1950 and served with him in pastorate, Youth for Christ, a craft business and
also as a gospel chalk artist. Survived by only child Colleen Rae and
son-in-law Lyle Foster; six grandchildren: Kevin, Heide, Brian, Steven, Betsy
and Trevor; a sister, Shirley Prouty. Friends may call Monday 7 to 9 p.m. at

December 3, 2004 John P. Hunt Sr., 76, of Syracuse, died Friday, December 3,
2004, in St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of the Bronx, he worked as a
self-employed real estate and insurance broker for many years in the Peekskill
area and resided in Syracuse for the past 11 years. Mr. Hunt served with the
U.S. Army Signal Corps, had been a past president with the Lions Club in
Westchester County and was a board member with the Keon Rehabilitation Center.

Kitay, Walter   
December 3, 2004 Walter Kitay, 86, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at
University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Vocational High
School, where he played football. He was a millwright for General Motors for

Sloane, Rosemary   
December 2, 2004 Rosemary Sloane, formerly of Syracuse, NY, and Bradenton, FL,
died December 2, 2004, at age 78. Rosemary was born in Youngstown, Ohio, to
Charles and Mary (Syron) Geidner. She attended Marygrove College/Ohio State
University and she received a degree in Theology from School of the South.
Rosemary was a member of the Volunteer Services of Manatee County in Florida
and the Administrators of Volunteer Services in Sryacuse. She also served as
the first president of the board of directors for Vera House and was a past
president of the Genetaska Women's Organization. Rosemary was the first woman
warden of All Saints Episcopal Church of Syracuse for 11 years. Her other
various community activities include volunteering at the Manatee County
Community Library. Rosemary was predeceased by her husband Jack. Devoted
mother of R. Gregory (wife Joan), Lawrence (wife Sandra), David (wife
Beverly), Christina Steinberg and Steven (wife Elizabeth). Beloved grandmother
of Sara, Nora, Stephanie and William. A service will be held at the Woolworth
Chapel in the Woodlawn Cemetery on Monday at 1 p.m. with an interment to

Smith, Joseph J.   
December 3, 2004 Joseph J. Smith, 79, of 404 Fulton Avenue, Fulton, passed
away December 3, 2004, at home. He was born in the town of Granby to Steve and
Evelyn (Joslin) Smith and was a lifetime resident of Fulton. Mr. Smith
attended the Fulton schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1942. He
enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps upon graduation and was a gunner in B-24
and B-29 bombers in the 8th Air Corps, 383rd Bomb Group, serving in WWII. Mr.
Smith was a member of State Street United Methodist Church and also attended
services at First United Methodist Church in Fulton. He was employed with L.C.
Smith Guns in Fulton and Sealright Corporation and retired from the U.S.
Postal Service. Mr. Smith was also an avid restorer and collector of antique
automobiles and was a charter member of the Oneida Lake Region Antique
Automobile Club and of the Antique Automobile Club of America, organized in
1953 at Denman's Isle, Brewerton, New York. He also co-founded the Pathfinder
Antique Automobile Club in Fulton in 1974. Surviving are his wife of 52 years,
Jean (Mitchell) Smith of Fulton; two sons, Gary J. (Stacey) Smith of Fulton
and Randy J. (Cathy) Smith of Volney; two grandchildren, Carol Jean (C.J.)
Smith of Fulton and Greg Foederer of Lacona. Services will be held at 11 a.m.

St. Camillus. Rosalene was formerly employed at General Electric. She was a

Thurlow, 76, of Almond St., Syracuse, died Wednesday at Crouse Hospital. A
native of Springfield, MA, Josie resided in Syracuse for the past 40 years.
She was a 32-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous.She is survived by two
sisters, Theresa Noeller of Split Rock and Alice Alberti of Mattydale; two
brothers, Thomas McGillicuddy of Conroy, SC, and John "Crash" McGillicuddy of
Mexico; many nieces and nephews. All services will be held privately and at

November 11, 2004 Robert Zankowski, 82, formerly of Syracuse, died November
11, 2004. Survivors: brothers, Arthur Zankowski of N. Carolina, Charles and
Lawrence Smith, both of Syracuse; aunts, Mary Wierzbicki and Genevieve
Zankowski, both of Syracuse, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services
were held November 20, 2004, in Louisiana.
