December 12, 2004 Theresa (Kohloeffel) Beer, 83, of North Syracuse, died
Sunday at Sunnyside Nursing Home, E. Syracuse. She was born in Bad Saulgau,
Germany and immigrated to the U.S. as a WWII bride. She spent most of her
adult life in New York City before moving to the Syracuse area in 1985.
Survivors: her husband of 57 years, Walter E.; a daughter and son-in-law,
Linda and Mark Peters of Manlius; two grand-daughters, Katharine and Jennifer
Peters. Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2004 at Falardeau
Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Services and burial will be

Byrd, Michael R.   
December 11, 2004 Michael R. Byrd, 58, of Oswego, passed away December 11. He
was a teacher at the Liverpool Middle School. Survived by his former wife,
Susan Byrd Baker; two daughters, Julia Byrd Clark of Toronto and Jennifer Byrd
of Oakland, CA. Funeral services and burial are private. No calling hours.

Collins Jr., Craig R.   
December 11, 2004 Craig R. Collins, Jr., 22, of Oswego, passed away on
December 11, 2004. Survived by his mother, Kimberly France; his father, Craig,
Sr.; a brother, John; two sisters, Katie and Latisha; and his fiance, Jennifer
Maynes. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Dowdle

December 11, 2004 G. Richard During, 77, of Camillus, died Saturday at
Community-General Hospital. Dick was born in Syracuse and lived in Camillus
for 41 years. A graduate of Blodgett Vocational High School, he was employed
by Monroe/Litton, Inc. for 39years. He was a Navy veteran, communicant of the
Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and member of the Adelphi Club for 59
years. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, the former Irene Adamski,
who passed away in 1988. Surviving are three sons and their wives, Richard G.
and Erica During of Tully, David G. and Karen During of Skaneateles and Mark
S. and Karen During of Camillus; and four grandchildren, Katherine, Margaret,
George and Jason During. Services will be at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Buranich
Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10:30 a.m. in the Basilica
of the Sacred Heart of Jesus where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends
may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in

Farden, Stacia C.   
December 12, 2004 Stacia C. Farden, 82, a resident of Fair Haven, NY, died
December 12, 2004 at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton. Born in Woonsocket,
RI, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Tonderys) Bernot. She
was the head seamstress at McDonald's Clothing in Oswego for many years. She
was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at Our Lady of the Rosary, Hannibal.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah M. Hodgson of Red Creek, Dale (Richard)
Cripps of Central Square; three sons, Daniel (Lynn) Farden of Sterling, Dennis
(Debra) Farden of Minetto, Douglas Farden of Fair Haven; one brother, Edward
(Anne) Bernot of Oswego; seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10
a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Rosary, Hannibal. Burial in St. Peter's
Cemetery, Oswego. Calling 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral

Hatter, Edward E.   
December 10, 2004 Edward E. Hatter, 67, of 7218 Vienna Road, Sylvan Beach,
died Friday, at his daughter's home in Cape Canaveral, FL, following a lengthy
illness. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Barbara J. Phelan, who
died on May 22, 2004. Survivors: A son and daughter-in-law, Albert & Paula
Butler of Edgewater, FL; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Colleen and Dean
Cooper of Sherrill, Dawn Butler of Cape Canaveral, FL, and Janell and William
Mills, Sr. of Sylvan Beach; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at

Jones, Gerald A.   
December 11, 2004 Gerald A. Jones, 67, of Halfmoon, NY, passed away December
11 at Albany Medical Center after a short illness. His father, William Jones
predeceased him. Gerald was a previous resident of Camillus and lived in
Halfmoon for the past 10 years. He was the owner of CNY Fasteners, Inc. in
Liverpool from 1965 to 1987. He then moved to the Albany area and opened and
operated the Shopper Info Centers. He was a member of St. Edward's Church in
Clifton Park, NY., Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse, and Lake George Club.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Judith Weal Jones of Halfmoon, NY; mother,
Ruth Savage Jones of Baldwinsville; two daughters, Cheryl A. McSwiggin of
Clifton Park, Linda Jones DePace of Clearwater, FL; one brother, William Jones
of Oswego; two grandchildren, Christopher and Ryan McSwiggin, and several
nieces and nephews. There will be a funeral mass Tuesday morning at St.
Edward's Church, Clifton Park. Calling hours are private at the Catricala
Funeral Home, Inc., 1597 Rt. 9, Clifton Park. Internment at St. Mary's

Knight, Juanita   
December 10, 2004 Juanita Knight, 47, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at
University Hospital. She was a life-resident of Syracuse and a communicant of
St. Anthony's Church. Juanita was employed at Hutchings Psychiatric Center for
25 years. Her father, GeorgeW. Knight died in 1990. Survivors: Her children,
Ayona T. Breaker and Anthony Breaker, II both of Syracuse; her mother,
Silvester Knight of Syracuse; three sisters, Gwendelyn Knight of Birmingham,
AL, Gloria (Toni) Allbright and Georgie Ann Knight both of Syracuse; a
brother, George W. Knight, Jr., of Syracuse; a companion, Claude Russell of
Syracuse; a host aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Kolloff, Teresa   
December 11, 2004 Teresa Kolloff, 80, of Fairmount, died Saturday at St.
Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Pottsville, PA and
lived in Syracuse since 1957. Terry was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
Her husband of 55 years, Har-old, died in 2003. Surviving are her daughters,
Beth (Robert) Riposo and Carolyn Tucker, both of Marcellus; son, Craig (Kim)
Kolloff of Boston, MA and eight grandchildren. Services will be at 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 1
p.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends
may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in

Nye, Frank G.   
December 11, 2004 Frank G. Nye, 67, of Jamesville, died at home of leukemia on
Saturday. He was born in Syracuse and grew up in Delphi Falls, NY. He was a
graduate of Fabius Central Schools, the Royal Academy of Barbering in
Schenectady, Beaux ArtsBeauty School in Syracuse and SUNY Oswego. Mr. Nye
owned and operated Village Coiffures in Jamesville and Something Special in
Fayetteville. He retired as a vocational education teacher from Auburn
Correctional Facility in 1994. He was a past Chairman of the Board of the Town
of DeWitt Parks and Recreation Commission, was on the Board of Trustees of
Jamesville Federated Church, past President of the Jamesville Cemetery
Association, Chairman of the Jamesville Bicentennial Celebration and was on
the Board of Trustees of the Jamesville Community Museum. Frank, an avid
gardener at both his Florida and Jamesville homes, enjoyed many years of world
travel with his wife, family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 47 years,
the former Barbara Robinson; a daughter, Kelly E. Nye (Steven Sherman) of
Jamesville; a son, Dr. Gregory F. Nye (Patricia Moran) of Falmouth, MA; seven
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m.
Wednesday at the Jamesville Community Church, 6300 E. Seneca Turnpike,
Jamesville. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairchild &
Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd. E., DeWitt. In lieu of flowers,

O'Brien, Marie Rita Devoy   
December 10, 2004 Marie Rita Devoy O'Brien, 89, of Fairmount, passed away
peacefully on December 10, 2004. Born March 3, 1915 in Syracuse, Marie
graduated from St. Lucy's High School and worked as a secretary. In addition
to being devoted to her family, Ma-rie was a 50 year communicant of Holy
Family Church. She was an avid bridge player and long time member of
Stonehedge and West Hill Bridge Clubs. Marie is predeceased by son Edward;
mother and father Catherine & George Devoy; siblings: Gerald, Agnes, George,
Anne, Joe, Louise and John. On July 19, 1941, Marie married her devoted
husband Edward, who survives her after 63 years together. Marie is also
survived by her loving children: Marie O'Brien Rothbaler, Patrick, Michael and
Kevin O'Brien; eight beloved grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; her
loving siblings: Paul Devoy of Phoenix, AZ, Kate Devoy of Columbia, SC, and
Lillian Antonucci of Long Island, NY. Services: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Edward
J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Calling hours

December 11, 2004 Jane E. Schmidt, 86, of Cicero died Saturday. She retired
from Kilian Bearing, Syracuse. Survived by grandson, Robert Tooly of West

Smith, Roberta Wavercak   
December 11, 2004 Roberta Wavercak Smith, 68, of Morgan Rd., Memphis, died
Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness at her home. Roberta
worked for the General Electric Company many years ago and had retired after
25 years from the Camillus Cutlery Co.in 1998. She loved spending time with
her family and her house on the river. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in
life, doing crossword puzzles with her husband, sitting on her deck, watching
her bird feeders, basketball and golf. Roberta was a devoted mother and will
be greatly missed by her loving family. She was predeceased by her first
husband, Michael J. Wavercak in 1984. Survivors: her husband, George M. Smith
of 19 years; three daughters, Linda A. Rickert of Tully, Laurie G. Farrell of
Jordan and Tammy Sheffield of Claremont, NC; three sons, Michael P. of
Memphis, Mark A. of Auburn and Timothy A. of Baldwinsville; a step-daughter,
Kimberly Smith of Calgary, Alberta; a stepson, Bradly Smith of Auburn; three
sisters, Barbara Rhode of Ocala, FL, Lois Baker of Baldwinsville and Virginia
Fowler-Melfi of Syracuse; one brother, Paul Fowler of Syracuse; 21
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services:

December 11, 2004 Bonnie G. Speich , 45, of Geneva, died Saturday at Geneva
Living Center South. Born in Syracuse, she resided in Homer and Florida before
moving to Geneva. She worked for the Ontario County A.R.C. She was also a
member of the Presbyterian Church in Geneva. Survivors: Her mother, Berneice

December 11, 2004 Frank J. Wasielewski, Sr., 77, of Chittenango, died
Saturday. Born in Waubach, Netherlands, he served with the US Army during the
Korean War. He was employed with New Venture Gear for 18 years, retiring in
1989. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans International on Brighton
Ave. and of Arlington, VA, and a member of the American Legion Post #141,
Manlius. Survivors: his wife of 37 years, Valerie Hart; a daughter, Catherine
Marie (James) Panebianco of Chittenango; a son, Frank (Jennie) Wasielewski,
Jr. of Fayetteville; a sister, Theresa Maessen of Netherlands; nine
