He was born in Syracuse and earned a B.A. degree from Syracuse University. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe immediately after World War II. He began his career at Alexander Grants Hardware Co. in Syracuse, becoming executive vice president. Later he was employed by Rockwell Mfg. Co. as vice president of the Canadian division. In 1968 he was named general manager of the Rockwell plant in Syracuse. In the mid-1970s he became president of Nixon Gear Co. in Syracuse and later was owner and president of Packaging Supply Co. and Braden Industrial Supplies Co. He was a member of the Onondaga Golf and Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Sally Benham Alden; two children, William S. Alden Jr. of Rochester and Priscilla Alden Secules of Fayetteville; a sister, Priscilla A. Wessels of Syracuse; and five grandchildren, Julianne and Geoffrey Alden and Madison, William and Samantha Secules. Rte. 22, Altmar, died Saturday at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Oswego. She was born on September 18, 1923, in Rome, NY, the daughter of George E. and Roberta Williams Clark. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1941. She previously resided in Central Square for many years moving to Altmar in 2002. She married Frederick J. LaFave who died in December 24, 1966, and later married George Bliss who died February 1, 1990. She was employed by G. E. in Syracuse for 32 years retiring in 1985. She was a member of the VFW Post #7289, Pulaski. Surviving are one daughter, Sharon L. Cauchy of Altmar; one son, Brett A. LaFave of Oswego; two brothers, Everson O. Caruso, Joseph D. December 12, 2004 Joseph D. Caruso, 84, of East Syracuse, passed away Sunday at his home. Born in Syracuse, he served with the Company D 405th Infantry of the U.S. Army during WWII. He received the WWII Victory Medal, European African Mid-dle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked at General Electric for 37 years, retiring in 1980. Joseph was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church and a member of Pheasants Unlimited in Canastota. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Crowley, 80, of Liverpool and Fayetteville, died Sunday. Born in Syracuse, he served with the U.S. Army during WWII, playing in a unit of the Glen Miller orchestra ferrying troops between the United States and England. He was a graduateof Syracuse University and the Syracuse University College of Law. He was a partner with the Gale, Farrell & Crowley Law Firm and an Assistant County Attorney of Onondaga County. Mr. Crowley was a past warden of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in North Syracuse. He was a member of Dick Kowell's Collegians and the Bar Ripsters. He was a member of the Seneca Golf Club and several golf leagues. Always considerate, jovial and the humorist, he was ever a loving husband, father and grandfather. Carmen was a steelworker at Crucible Specialty Metals for 32 years and was a member of the Steelworkers Local 1277. A life-long resident of Syracuse, he had been employed by Onondaga County as Assistant Director of the Department of Buildings and Grounds. Formany years earlier he had held the position of Director of Central Services. After retirement, he and wife Patricia divided their time between Henderson Harbor on Lake Ontario and Hutchison Island, Florida. Mike was an accomplished fisherman and charter captain; a skilled carpenter and a long-time Republican supporter, known for his expertise in "getting out the vote." He is survived by his daughter, Mary Leigh Marinelli of Boston, MA; his son, Michael A. Marinelli; daughter-in-law Debra Marinelli and two grandchildren, Krista Noel and Lee Michael Marinelli of Victory, NY; also two brothers, Anthony and Joseph Marinelli. Mitsoff, Christy December 13, 2004 Christy Mitsoff, 92, of Eastwood, died Monday in James Square Nursing Home. Born in Segovia, Macedonia, and resided in Syracuse most of his life. December 11, 2004 Leland U. Moore, 79, of 303 East Main St., Elkland, PA, passed away Saturday evening, at Manor Care North in Williamsport, PA, with his family at his side. He died peacefully in his sleep after a long illness. Mr. Moore, the son of George and Bertha Stafford Moore, was born in Osceola, PA, on September 25, 1925. Leland attended school in Elkland until he volunteered to join the Army in the fall of 1943. He first saw combat in World War II in the European theater at the Battle of the Bulge where he was awarded a bronze star. Leland later served with the Army of Occupation in Japan before returning to the U.S. He served 10 years in the Army, and at Fort Campbell, KY. He was honorably discharged from the Army's 11th Airborne Div. on February 12, 1949. Leland Moore wed the former Mary Louise Dorrance, also of Elkland, PA. The couple celebrated their 55th anniversary earlier this year. Mr. Moore was for many years employed by the Elkland Leather Company. He was a forklift driver who loaded trucks and rail cars and later worked as a leather sorter who graded finished tanned hides for shipment. After retirement and before moving with his wife to Manor Care North in Williamsport, PA, in September of this year, Leland spent summers in Elkland, PA, and winters in Haines City, FL. In his free time Mr. Moore enjoyed coaching Little League, camping, traveling and doing home remodeling and lawn care projects. Leland Moore is survived by his wife, Mary D. Moore; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia M. and Michael G. MacDonald, Jamesville, NY; granddaughters, Alexis C. MacDonald, Alexandria, VA, and Hillary E. MacDonald, Jamesville, NY; daughter-in-law, Lisa Moore Bock, Williamsport, PA; sister, Creta Gee, Waverly, NY; cousin, Winifred Carl, RD, Knoxville, PA; several nieces and nephews. Procopio, age 70, died Sunday at the Syracuse Home in Baldwinsville. He was born in Fulton and following graduation from Fulton High School entered Syracuse University. His major in broadcasting led him to Channel 3 where he worked for 35 years in the technical department, film editing, programming and sales. He then spent two years at the Child Care Council in computer management. Later he worked at Meals on Wheels of Syracuse where he was in charge of computer management and logistics, retiring in July 2000. After successfully surviving cancer in 1978, he became a lay visitor for Hospice and was a charter member of Cancermount in 1980. He lectured to medical students on the art of understanding patients' needs. The losses imposed upon him by polio at 15 did not crush his spirit. As he used to say, "Life is filled with small victories." An avid bird watcher, he also enjoyed cards, backgammon, cribbage and Mah Jongg. He was a member of CNYPC Users group, a volunteer driver for Baldwinsville Meals on Wheels, a leader of church youth groups and a chaperone for speed roller skating groups. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Joan, of 21 years; son, Michael Procopio of Virginia; daughter, Lisa Moon of Camillus; brother, John Procopio of Fulton; stepdaughters, Cathy Lott of Wisconsin, Betsy Lott of Massachusetts; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
