Couch, 76, of 206 Kline Road, Pennellville, died Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Minneapolis, Vince was a 1947 graduate of Jordan High School and he attended Syracuse University. For 28 years, he was an insurance agentwith Mass Mutual before retiring in 1998. Vince served with the US Marines during the Korean War and he fought in Chosin Reservoir battle. He was vice president of The Chosin Few-Northeast Chapter. He was a member of the Caughdenoy United Methodist Church, Phoenix VFW Post, DAV, Marine Corps League of CNY, and Syr-Can Fishing Association. Vince was predeceased by his brother James who died on June 17. Surviving are his wife, the former Sandra Kuykendall; his son, Robert W. and wife, Marion of Frederick, MD; two sisters, Margaret McMurtry of Elbridge and Marian Cooper of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Eric, Cheryl, Danielle, Michael; and a great-granddaughter,Alexis. DeChick, Michael J. December 14, 2004 Michael J. DeChick, 54, of Otisco, died Tuesday at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Auburn, he was a graduate of Central Tech. High School. He and his wife were the owners and operators of Lord's Hill Kennels and had previ-ously owned and operated The Apple Ponies. He was a finisher at Marsellus Casket Co., retiring in 1978 after 10 years. He also worked as a general contractor and at Beak & Skiff. He was a member of the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and Iroquois German Shepherd Dog Club. He enjoyed his red corvette and loved riding with his wife on a sunny day. His most loved things in life were his wife, family, driving his car, antiquing, and being with friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Taylor DeChick. Neil was the most proud of being an American and loved this country very much. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater WWII and felt that it was an honor to have served. He was also very proud to be a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, his ancestors came to this country in 1636 and founded the town of Norwich and Lebanon, CT. Merckel, age 84, died Wednesday morning at Community General Hospital. June had been a resident of the Syracuse Valley community for 52 years. She was a 50-years-plus member of the Onondaga Valley Presbyterian Church, dur-ing which time she served as Sunday school teacher, choir member, Elder, Deacon and active member of the Christian Women's Association and bible study group. June had also been active in the Valley community as a first grade teacher at John Van Duyn Elementary School for 30 years, a regular volunteer at Community General Hospital for 20 years, and a member of the Valley Literacy Club for over 20 years. Riley, Helene Burton December 13, 2004 Helene Burton Riley, 89, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2004, at Crosslands Retirement Community, where she and her husband had lived since 1989. She was the wife of Charles H. Riley Jr., with whom she shared 64-1/2 years of marriage. She was born on June 16, 1915, to the late Lena and Harold Burton in Ogdensburg, NY. Helene lived in northern and central New York State until the time of her graduation from Phoenix High School and then Oswego State College in 1936. She taught elementary school in Sennett, NY, and Rochester, NY, until she married Charles in 1940. The Rileys lived in Syracuse, NY, for 26 years before moving in 1989 to Crosslands Retirement Community in Kennett Square, PA, near Philadelphia. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, and a Presbyterian. For many years she enjoyed bird watching and had personally identified 519 North American birds and over 200 foreign species. She also enjoyed stitching and created over 20 beautiful counted cross stitch pieces. In addition to her husband, Helene is survived by a daughter, Ann Riley Goodman, living in Devon, PA; two sons, Warren Riley, living in Studio City, CA, and David Riley, living in San Marcos, CA; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Vosburgh of Cape Vincent, NY, died Friday, December 10, 2004 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Jack was born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in Ocean City, NJ. He attended the University of Missouri. Jack served overseas in the U.S. Army during World War II. Jack founded Onondaga Litho Supply Inc., with five offices across Upstate NY. Jack retired from the company in 1991. He was a founding member of the Filthy Five, a charitable organization that helped those in need in central and northern NY. Jack was an avid fisherman, boater, golfer, pilot, traveler and reader. He lived life to the fullest. He loved the Thousand Islands, having spent many years on the St. Lawrence River. Jack's passion for life and his sense of humor will be missed. Jack is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ann; son Fred Vosburgh; and daughters Kim Kilcullen and Lorie Wasilawski; sister Dorothy Ann Vosburgh; and grandchildren: Emily, Elisabeth and Tyler. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, December 18 at Cummings Funeral Home, John Street, Clayton, NY. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Vincent of Paul Church on Kanady Street in Cape Vincent, NY. An additional memorial service will be held in late spring. Williamson, 84, of Fairmount, died Tuesday at Community General Hospital. Cliff was born in Solvay and was a 1938 graduate of Solvay High School. In 1948 he graduated from Syracuse University majoring in political science. Healso received Certified Social Worker status at the Buffalo School of Social Work. He worked in several social work capacities including Veterans' Assistance, New York State Parole Department, and retired after many years from the Onondaga Probation Department. After his retirement he worked for Westvale Golf Club and also wrote golf news for the "Leisure Times Magazine" for several years. Cliff was an avid golfer and devoted a great deal of his retirement time playing golf and volunteering at golfing events. During his college years he played on the SU golf team. He was a longtime member of Westvale Golf Club where he won many club championships and he held the course record there for several years. He was also a former member of Auburn Golf Club and won the 1966 Club Championship. In 1977 he was runner-up in the New York State Senior Golf Championship. He also had five holes-in-one during his golfing years. Cliff's volunteering at golf events included of 25 years as one of the directors of the Onondaga County Junior Boys Tournament hosted at Westvale. He volunteered at several PGA events including the Senior Golf Championship held in Syracuse, the BC Open held in Endicott, New York, and the Senior Golf Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C. where he wintered for many years and was a member of Bay Tree Golf Plantation. Cliff was a member of Holy Family Church for 49 years, a member of the Camillus Elks Club, and a former longtime member of the Pastime Club. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dolores (Dee) Williamson; his nephew Richard Williamson (wife Dorene); his grandniece Michele Williamson; his grandnephew Patrick Williamson (wife Heidi); a great-grandnephew Colin Williamson; and several cousins. Services Saturday 8:30 a.m. at the Tindall Funeral Home and 9 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Fairmont. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 1921 W.
