December 16, 2004 Harold E. Brown, age 76, of Ctr. Rte. 22, Orwell, died Thursday at his home. He was born on July 10, 1928, in Liverpool, the son of Harold E. and Helen Boysen Brown. He resided in Orwell for the past 34 years, previously living in Concord, MA. He attended Syracuse schools. He married Mary Piantedosi on December 6, 1947, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He owned and operated H. E. Brown Landscaping in Concord, MA, for 40 years, retiring in 1994, and also owned a farm in Orwell for several years. He was a member of the Lacona VFW Cable Trail Post. Surviving are his wife, Mary; one son, Harold "Buzzie" Brown, III of Sandy Creek; one daughter, Deborah B. Petrie of Pulaski; two grandchildren, Terra and Zachary Petrie of Utica. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home with Rev. Sean O'Brien officiating. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell. No calling hours. A native of Raymondville, NY, she had resided since 1948 in North Syracuse and summered for several years on Sandy Pond. Before 1952, she had been employed by LC Smith Typewriter Company. Mrs. Burkhard was a former Corinthian Foundation volunteer for ten years and was a former member of the Syracuse Turners. Her husband of 56 years, John D. "Jack" Burkhard, predeceased her on April 18, 2003. Surviving is her friend, Marilyn L. Bartlett of Newnan Georgia. She was a 1968 graduate of Marcellus Central School, and attended Marymount College. Anne lived many years in Colorado before moving to Baldwinsville in 1989. She was a very talented artist. Her father, John W. "Chuckle" Kelly, died in 1995. Surviving are two sons, Luke K. (Beth) Walsh of Liverpool, and Patrick K. She married Earl (Red) Lewis on August 14,1938, who died September 9, 2003. She was employed at Bell Aircraft as a Riveter in Niagara Falls during WWII and later was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Lewis AMC/Jeep, Inc. in Pulaski, until retiring in 1981. Survivors: Her daughter, Suzanne Lewis Conn of Pulaski and her son, Michael H. Lewis of Little Rock, AR; a sister, Sally Donah of Potsdam; two grandchildren, David Conn and Kelly Warren of Altmar; two great-grandchildren, Rodney and Samantha Warren. McGivney, 69, of Baldwinsville, died Wednesday in Orman Beach, FL. He was born in Syracuse and worked as a sheet-rocker in New York for many years as a member of the CNY Painters & Allied Trades Local #31. He was also an Army veteran and a member of both the Baldwinsville VFW Post #153 and the American Legion Post #113. He was predeceased by his brother Richard McGivney in 1989. Merklinger, Evelyn December 15, 2004 Evelyn Merklinger, 96, of 1400 Kinne St., East Syracuse, passed away at her home Wednesday. Evelyn was born in Amsterdam, NY in 1908 and lived in the Utica area for most of her life. She moved to the Syracuse area a few years ago to becloser to her family. Evelyn's favorite hobbies where cooking and gardening and spending time with her many friends. She had a great love for all animals. She is predeceased by herhusband, Bruce W., who died in 1986. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Shine of Liverpool; two grandsons, Michael and Stephen Kane; two great-grandchildren, Giovanni and Michael; and her niece, Courtney Stevensen. Center for Special Care in Lake Katrine, NY. Born in Syracuse, she resided here most of her life. Janet was a worker's compensation supervisor with Wausau Insurance. She was a volunteer at the Landmark Theatre. She was a wonderful wife and special mother. She was the widow of Jack J. Pharoah who died in July 2001. Prioletti, Evelyn Rader December 16, 2004 Evelyn Rader Prioletti, 85, of Syracuse, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at Community Hospital. Evelyn was born in Williamsport, PA, on March 17, 1919, and lived in Syracuse most of her life. Shewas a devoted wife to the late Nicholas Prioletti for over 61 years. Mrs. Prioletti retired from Fay's Drugs in 1984, was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church, and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Evelyn was an accomplished seamstress and an active bowler through 2003. Evelyn was also very devoted to taking care of her children and grandchildren, as well as being a good friend to many. Everyone will miss her positive attitude.
