Butler, Norma Catherine December 18, 2004 Norma Catherine Butler, age 94, died December 18 at her home in Sandy Creek. Born November 11, 1910 in Yonkers, New York. Daughter of the late James Edward Butler and Lula Proper Butler of Palmyra New York; granddaughter of thelate Captain James Joseph Butler and Ermina Catherine Webb Butler, Chestnut Ridge Road, Sackets Harbor, New York; and of the late Horace Proper and Myra Diana Barnes Proper of Omar, New York. Graduated from Albany High School, Albany, New York in 1927. Received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of the State of New York, State College for Teachers, Albany, New York in 1931. Received a Masters of Arts Degree from Middlebury College Bread Loaf School of English, Middlebury, Vermont in 1943. Moved to Palmyra, New York in 1934, and taught English at Palmyra High School for 10 years. Joined the faculty at West Irondequoit High School, Rochester, New York in 1944 where she taught English, Literature, and sponsored the school newspaper winning many State awards for excellence. She retired after 39 years of teaching in 1970 and moved to Sandy Creek, New York. Was a member of Kappa Delta Alumni Association, the Oswego County Retired Teacher's Association, and was an honored member of the New York State Retired Teacher's Association. She is survived by Donald Butler Shaw, her 1st cousin, of Rochester, New York; several 2nd cousins and their families; and many devoted friends. Eaton, 82, of Fayetteville, died at Iroquois Nursing Home. He was a graduate of Cornell University. Mr. Eaton retired in 1982 as an engineer from General Electric after 38 years. While with GE, he worked two years in Trinidad as a man-ager of a downrange radar tracking site. He was a ham radio operator over 65 years, with a call sign of W2SBI, and was a member of the American Radio Relay League, Radio Amateurs of Greater Syracuse, the Elfin Society, and the Quarter Century Wireless Association. His interests included genealogy, computers, and traveling. Survivors: his wife of 60 years, Doris A.; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah A. and Fred Frey of Hamilton, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald C. and Elizabeth Eaton of Norfolk, VA; a granddaughter, Virginia K. Henning, 69, of 121 Lafayette Road, passed away Wednesday after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side. A native of Bremerhaven, Germany, Eleanor also lived inJesup, GA, and St. Paul, MN, before moving to Syracuse in 1977. She was a longtime employee of Wegmans, DeWitt. Surviving are her daughters, Marie Hawley of Camillus and Patty Buss of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Josh Hawley, Adam Hawley and Eric Buss. A memorial service will be held late in January at the Vineyard in Lakeland. Details will be published after the holidays. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, DeWitt. Born in New Hampshire, she had lived in Caughdenoy for the past 56 years. She was a communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Central Square, and the Altar & Rosary Society there. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 2003. Surviving are two sons, Andrew of Pennellville and Thomas of Liverpool; a grandson; two sisters, Stella Deck of Camillus and Geraldine Luteran of Port Byron; a brother, Chester Dziergas of Weedsport. Rodger, Marie Kelleher December 22, 2004 Marie Kelleher Rodger, 92, passed away Wednesday at St. Lukes Health Center in Oswego, NY. She was born in Warners, NY, September 28, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret Gilmartin Kelleher. She graduated from Syracuse University, House of the Good Shepherd School of Nursing. Marie married the late Dr. John A. Rodger and they lived in Fulton for many years before moving to West Amboy in the late seventies. She is survived by two daughters, Judith (Will) Misch of West Amboy, Margaret Rodger of Littleton, CO; three sons, John (Joyce) Rodger of Ballston Spa, NY, Dr. Richard (Linda) Rodger of North Grafton, MA, Robert Rodger of West Amboy, NY; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; along with some very special friends. Stewart, Jacalyn Vinciquerra December 22, 2004 Jacalyn Vinciquerra Stewart, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at the Francis House. Born in Syracuse, she was a life resident of the Syracuse area. She was a 1971 graduate of Henninger High School, Le Moyne College in 1975, SUNYCortland MS in 1976, SUNY Cortland - Certificate of Advanced Studies (Administration) 1990, and had a permanent NYS Certificate as an English Teacher, School Administrator and Supervisor. Jackie was an English teacher with the Syracuse City School District from 1978 to 1988, Administrative Intern at Corcoran High School from 1988 to 1990, assistant Principal at G. Ray Bodley High School from 1998 to 2002, Universal Pre-K Program Administrator from 2002-2003, a former summer school Principal at Henniger High School and retired in August of 2003 as Principal of G. Ray Bodley High School. She was a member of the Teacher's Association, the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Foundation and was elected on the Board of Education for the Fulton City School District. Her father, Anthony Joseph Vinciquerra died in 1990. Survivors: her son, Glenn Anthony Stewart of Syracuse; her mom, Olga Vinciquerra of Syracuse; two brothers, Dr. Anthony Vinciquerra of Jamesville and Mark (Michele) Vinciquerra of Syracuse; sister-in-law, Maureen Vinciquerra of Jamesville; brother-in-law, James Wescott of Jamesville; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. December 22, 2004 Helen E. Strowbridge, of Westvale, died Wednesday. Born in Syracuse, she was a member of the first graduating class of St. Patrick's School in 1935. She retired from S.M. Flinkingers. Helen was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, a volunteer at Community General Hospital and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Charles Borromeo. She is survived by her son Fred of Liverpool; her daughter Kathy (Bruce) Wrolsen of Fulton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
