Jacksonville, NY, died at Oak Hill Manor, in Ithaca, December 26, 2004. Family

Carroll, Nancy (Whitney)   
December 27, 2004 Nancy Carroll, 60, of Bedford, TX and formerly of Syracuse
died Monday after a brief illness. Born in Rochester, she grew up in Phelps,
NY before attending Syracuse University. She was employed by American Airlines
where she worked for29 years until her retirement in 2002. Her career began in
Syracuse then Boston, Tulsa and finally Dallas. As a Trainer and Business
Analyst, she traveled internationally for the company. She was predeceased by
her father, Rev. Eli Whitney in February. Survived by her mother, Marjorie
Whitney; and a sister, Merrilee (Randy) Frese of Syracuse; and a brother,
Bradd J. Whitney of Roanoke, TX;and several nieces and nephews. Services will
be private. Spring burial in Mexico village cemetery. Arrangements by B.L.

DiLauro, Theresa A.   
December 28, 2004 Theresa A. DiLauro, 50, of Liverpool, passed away
unexpectedly Tuesday. Born in Syracuse she was a life resident of the Syracuse
area. Theresa was the manager of The Bagel Shop Bakery and Deli located
downtown. Her father, Nicholas died in 1972 and her mother Carmelina died in
1998. Survivors: her sister, Anne Marie (John) Gebrian of Baldwinsville;
brothers, John of Clay and Nicholas of Liverpool. Funeral services Friday 8:15
a.m. at FARONE & SON, and 9 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
(downtown). Burial in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4 to 7 p.m.

Eaton, Carl J.   
December 26, 2004 Carl J. Eaton, 71, passed away December 26, after a long
battle with cancer. Born in Georgetown, NY, he resided in Cazenovia for 24
years. He was an Army veteran, charter member of Ruritan in DeRuyter, and
member of American Legion Post 88 in Cazenovia. He was a volunteer fireman for
45 years. Carl worked at and loved being at Buyea's True Value in Cazenovia.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Dawn; three sisters, Florence Niles of
Lebanon, Hilda Preston of DeRuyter, and Ruth Stewart of Groton; one brother,
Ken Eaton of Georgetown; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A calling hour
will be held on Monday, January 3, from 6 to 7 p.m. with services at 7 p.m. at

Fisher, Charles "Bud"   
December 27, 2004 Charles "Bud" Fisher, 80, of Camillus, died Monday at St.
Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Born in New York City, Bud lived 57 years in
Greenwich Village until moving to Camillus in 1978. He was owner of the
Onondaga Dairy Supply Co. and later worked for Rumetco Sales. Bud was a Navy
veteran. He was also a member of the American Legion and Elks Club. His wife,
Mary, died in 2003. Surviving are his daughter, Adriane Fisher of
Baldwinsville; sons, Charles Fisher of Boston, MA, James Fisher of Long
Island, and Bill Fisher of Liverpool; and five grandchildren, Katie, Andrew,
Eryn, Brian and Jon Fisher. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Buranich
Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's

Foresti, Robert J.   
December 27, 2004 Robert J. Foresti, 77, of Solvay, passed away Monday in St.
Joseph's Hospital. He was a life resident of Solvay. Robert was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Bob's Mechanical Service of
Solvay for 45 years. He was amember of the Tyrol Club of Solvay, the Geddes
Vet's and was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church. Surviving are his wife of
28 years, the former Frances Trovato; a daughter, Carol Hayes of California; a
son, Robert J. of Solvay; a brother, James Foresti of Solvay; five
grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. Services will
be held at 8:15 a.m. Thursday in Bagozzi Twins Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St.
Cecilia's Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in

December 28, 2004 Mary R. Grosso, 86, of North Syracuse, died Tuesday at
Birchwood Nursing Home in Liverpool. She was a life resident of the Syracuse
area. She is survived by two sons, William (Lynda) Flannagan and James
(Sharon) Flannagan; her daughter, Patricia (Edwin) Thorne; a brother, Richard
(Marie) Dixon; a sister, Patricia (James) Burns; grandchildren, Jessica,
Tracy, Timothy, James, Kelly, Susan and Lori; great-grandchildren, Emma, Cain
and Bella. She is predeceased by a grandson, William Flannagan. Services will
be held on Friday 10 a.m. at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse.

Harrod, Joseph G.   
December 24, 2004 Joseph G. Harrod, 80, of 2067 County Rt. 1, Oswego, died
while on vacation in Del Rio, Texas. He was born in Little Falls, NY, and has
been a resident of Oswego since 1971. Mr. Harrod was operating engineer; he is
a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 545,
Syracuse. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., Little Falls, NY. Mr. Harrod
served in the United States Army during World War II. He was predeceased by
his daughter Melanie Butler. Mr. Harrod is survived by his wife June
Ferraro-Harrod of Oswego; his son, Joseph Harrod of Little Falls; brother,
Gerald (Wanda) Harrod of Little Falls; and four grandchildren. Funeral
services will be Thursday 4 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church, Simpson Dr.,
Oswego. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be Thursday 1 to 3 p.m. at

Henning Ph.D., John A.   
December 24, 2004 John A. Henning, Ph.D., 76, Professor Emeritus, Syracuse
University, died on December 24, 2004, at Crouse Hospital. He taught economics
at the Maxwell School for 27 years until his retirement in 1991. Professor
Henning graduated from Phil-lips Exeter Academy and then served in the U.S.
Army Counter-Intelligence Corps from 1946-50 in Kobe, Japan. He received a
B.S. from Columbia University, where he was admitted to the Phi Beta Kappa
Society. He received his M.A. from Yale University and his Ph.D. in Economics
from Cornell University. While at S.U., Professor Henning collaborated on
pioneering research on the effects of air pollution on housing values and on
the prediction of government expenditures. He was also a consultant to the
legal profession in economics and statistical matters since 1975, and
frequently testified as an expert witness in state and federal courts.
Professor Henning had a lifelong interest in Egyptian antiquities and a love
of oriental rugs and the music of Mozart. Surviving are his wife, Mary
Wallace-Henning; sons, Paul of Fairfield, CT, John Jr. of Los Angeles, Thomas
of San Francisco, and Michael of Sarajevo, Bosnia; stepchildren, Stephen
Wallace of Rochester, Sarah Lineberry of Henniker, NH, and Kristin Wallace of
Syracuse; and nine grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, December 31,
at 11 a.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Society, 2509 Waring Rd.

December 19, 2004 Stanley F. Hessler, 76, of Central Florida, passed away
Sunday, December 19, 2004 following a brief illness. Born in Greig, NY and
lived most of his life in Cicero, NY. He was a retired construction and
manufacturing employee. He was a member of Fairmount Free Methodist Church in
Syracuse. Survivors include his wife, Lois; sons, Gregg, Garth and Gary; four
sisters; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorials may be

Keller, Jane C.   
December 26, 2004 Jane C. Keller, 84, of LaFayette, died December 26, 2004
with her family at home, in the house they lived in for over 59 years. Her
husband died in October 2004. Mrs. Keller was born in Syracuse, attended
Syracuse schools, married Howard Keller in 1942, was a past member of the
LaFayette Grange, and one of the original members of the LaFayette Fire Dept.
Auxiliary. Survived by two sons, John (Donna) of LaFayette, Richard (Maureen)
of Michigan; three sisters, Charlotte Darrow of DeWitt, Bertha Lage of
Syracuse, Stella Ostrander of California; nine grandchildren; six

Lenhart December 27, 2004 Cynthia L. "Cindy" Lenhart, 47, of Central Square,
passed quietly surrounded by family on Monday. Cindy was predeceased by her
father, Ralph R. Lenhart. She is survived by a daughter, Robin M. (Arcadio)
Vargas; grandchildren, James, Phillip, Alejandro and Savannah; her mother,
Marlene Robinson; grandmother, Helen Lenhart; sisters, Deborah Rawson, Colleen

Police department, then later she worked at Syracuse Water Department retiring
in 1979. Survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Henry J. Leonard; a

Litzelman, John "Jack"   
December 25, 2004 John "Jack" Litzelman, 72, of Onondaga Hill, died Christmas
Day after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Sayre, PA. Jack retired in
1987 after 37 years with GLF and Agway. He severed in the U.S. Navy during the
Second World War in the Pa-cific Theater. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed
hunting, fishing and skiing. Jack played football for Cornell University where
he graduated in 1951. He was active member of the First Presbyterian Church
United. He was predeceased by his wife, Peg, who died in 2002. Surviving: two
sons, John H. Jr. of Canandaigua, NY, and Donald H. of Stratham, NH; a
daughter, Sharon Kirin of Eldersburg, MD; eight grandchildren. Services will
be 2 p.m. Friday, January 7, at First Presbyterian Church United, 620 W.
Genesee St., Syracuse. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.

Masterpole, Genevieve (Guido)   
Masterpole December 27, 2004 Genevieve (Guido) Masterpole, age 93, of Parsons
Rd., Camillus, passed away Monday in the Van Duyn Home and Hospital. She was
born in Tyler, PA, but resided in the Syracuse area most of her life.
Genevieve was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Camillus, and had worked
at Pass and Seymour for over 35 years, before retiring. Her husband, John J.
Masterpole died in 1994. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane (Martin)
Mather of Liverpool; a son, John J. (Carol) Masterpole Jr., of Myrtle Beach,
SC; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Guido of
Syracuse; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be
held on Thursday, 9:30 a.m. in the Pirro and Sons Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m.
in St. Joseph's Church, Camillus. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery,

December 24, 2004 Louise Keenan Parsons, 92, formerly of Buchanan Place, Sandy
Creek, died Friday. A native of Syracuse, she lived in Sandy Creek since 1966.
A retired art teacher, she taught for over 30 years at Glen Cove. Her husband
Lawrence H. Parsons died in 1997. Survivors: two nephews, David K. Parsons,
Robert D. Keenan; a niece, Polly Space; several great-nieces and nephews.

December 28, 2004 John S. Pohopek Sr., of East Syracuse, passed away
peacefully at home with his loving wife Joyce at his side. He was born in
Newmarket NH, moving to Syracuse in the 1950's. He was a Navy veteran of WW II
and a longtime Boston Red Sox fan. He retired after 22 years with Carrier
Corp. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. He was a life member of the
Pastime Athletic Club and a member of VFW Post 3146. He was predeceased by his
first wife the former Beatrice LaPointe and a son John Jr. Surviving: his wife
of 21 years, the former Joyce Liadka; a daughter, Joni (Seguin) Hart of
Zephyrhills, FL; a son, Jerome (Kathy) Pohopek of North Syracuse; two
stepsons, Dave (Cindy) Vito and John (Pam) Vito; a brother, Louis of Main;
numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will
be private with a memorial service to be held in the spring. Contributions may

in University Hospital. Born in Boston, Mass., she lived most of her adult
life in Solvay. She was employed by General Electric for 28 years. She was a
member of the MOOSE Club, the McChesney Park Seniors, the N. Syracuse Seniors
and the Allied Retirees Club. Jennie was predeceased by her husband Joseph in
1964. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Cece Schiavone of
Liverpool; a granddaughter, Michelle (Larry) Mazenski of Solvay; a sister,

M. Barnes Howell. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, James M. Smith, in
1997. She is survived by her four daughters, Connie Waldby of Waterloo, Donna
Kreydatus of Union Springs, Dawn Mitchell of Auburn, and Terri Murray of
Jordan; a son, Donald Wilson of Cayuga; 13 grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and a very special close friend, Anna Murray. Services

Wall Paper and Paint. She was a former member of Temple B'nai Israel and the

December 22, 2004 Lois M. (Brown) Tanner, 71, of Altmar, died December 22,
2004. She was born in Pulaski. She was the office administrator for the Oswego
County Mutual Insurance Company in Parish, NY. Survivors: her husband of 50
years, Roy L. Tanner; one son, Lynn R. (Renee) Tanner of Twisburg, OH; one
daughter, Susan (Thomas) Baldock of Fulton; four grandchildren, Daniel,
Denise, Diane and Carissa; two sisters, Annie Mattechario of Albany, and
Marion Greene of Schenectady; one brother, Robert Brown of Sackets Harbor.
Services are private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in care of

Thompson, Anna Jayne   
December 19, 2004 Anna Jayne Thompson, 81, of Syracuse, died Sunday at St.
Camillus. She was born in Jamesville and moved in 1949 to Norwalk, CT. She
lived there for 17 years until moving back to Syracuse, residing for 34 years.
Anna attended the Powelson Busi-ness Institute and was a communicant of Holy
Family Church. She enjoyed gardening, making afghans and crocheting. She was
predeceased by her husband Arthur Robert Sr. in 1987 and son Arthur Robert Jr.
in 1969. Surviving are her daughter, Anne M. Thompson of Bozrah, CT; one son,
John N. (Ruth) Thompson of Canonsburg, PA; two sisters, Mary A. Podolak of
Syracuse and Pauline R. Daily of Westvale; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Holy Family Church where a funeral
Mass will be celebrated. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in St.
John Cemetery, Norwalk, CT. Contributions may be made to St. Camillus
Foundation, 813 Fay Rd., Syracuse, NY 13219.

Turner, Beatrice Madeline   
December 27, 2004 Beatrice Madeline Turner, 89, of Fulton, died Monday at St.
Luke Health Services Rehabilitation Center, Oswego. She was a member of State
Street United Methodist Church, Fulton and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter
176, Hamburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin A. Turner who died in
1980. Surviving are four daughters, Joyce E. Sumner and Judith E. Capozzi,
both of Fulton, Beatrice K. Bennett of Kingman, AZ, and Dianne T. Wilson of
Rochester; two sisters, Ruth Zobeck of Fulton and Frances Holiday of Buffalo;
eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at
Foster Funeral Home, Fulton. Spring burial at Fairdale Cemetery, Hannibal.

Walsh, Donald J.   
December 28, 2004 Donald J. Walsh, 81, of Fulton, died at St. Joseph's
Hospital. He was born in Fulton and has remained a life resident. He was a
veteran of WWII having served in the US Army Air Corp from 1942-1945. He
worked at Victoria Papermill, and was a 50year member of the Sprinkler Fitters
Local Union #669. He retired from National Automatic Sprinkler Corp. in 1984.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and he was a lifetime member and past
president of the Pathfinder Fish and Game Club. He was recently awarded his
diploma from Fulton High School. He was the son of the late William and
Lucille Walsh and he was predeceased by his siblings, Francis, William and
Katherine Walsh. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margery Walsh of
Fulton; his children, Evan (Florence) Walsh, and Nan Jacobson both of Fulton;
four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services: 10 a.m.
Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Stephenson. Spring Burial: St. Mary's

Wells, Portia L.   
December 26, 2004 Portia L. Wells, 64, of Fayetteville, died Sunday in
Freehold, NJ. A life-resident of Syracuse, Mrs. Wells was an attorney in
Syracuse since 1964. Mrs. Wells was a 1961 graduate of Syracuse University and
a 1964 graduate of Syracuse University school of law. Surviving: Son, Joshua
(Allison); daughter, Hillary Koyner (Ira); sister, Anita (Lewis) Kuppermann;
brother, Gil Strausman; three grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 11
a.m. Thursday at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m.
