December 30, 2004 Alta D. Alligood, 84, of Bay Road, Jordan, died Thursday in Crouse Hospital. Born in Chicago, Mrs. Alligood lived in Syracuse before moving to Jordan in 1949. She was the widow of Alton Alligood who died in 1964. She retired in 1983 afterseveral years with the New York Telephone Co. Mrs. Alligood was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Jordan where she was active with the Legion of Mary and the Women's Guild. She was a member of the Erie Canal Garden Club, J-E Senior Citizens, and the Telephone Pioneers. Mrs. Alligood was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and the Onondaga County Co-operative Extension. Surviving are her son, David J. Alligood of Salem, OR; four grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Kaitlinh, and Elizabeth; and a niece, Pat Castellano of Newark. Published in the Syracuse Post Standard on 12/31/2004. Dishaw, Mary T. December 8, 2004 Mary T. Dishaw, 77, of the 5000 block of Marian Lane, Virginia Beach, VA, died December 8, 2004. Mary was born November 27, 1927, in Syracuse, NY, to Harold and Frances Keville. She is survived by her son Timothy of Virginia Beach. Mary grew up on a farm near Syracuse and worked at Niagara Mohawk Power. On July 4, 1953, she married a tough, handsome man named Stanley, who would be her husband for over 50 years. Their first house was in Baldwinsville, NY. They then moved to Spencerport, NY, where their son was born, and Mary took to raising him full time. Still active in the community, Mary became a champion of environmental protection wherever she lived. In Spencerport she was the primary catalyst for the design and implementation of the Towpath canal park, and received numerous awards, which included the Marion B. Darrow conservation Medal. In Granby, CT, she once again made her mark by serving on a variety of committees, and was especially proud of her work on the Tudor & Laura Holcomb farm project. In Many, LA, she was the recipient of the state's Good Land Use Award, and was recognized by the governor himself. The two then lived in Many, LA, Little River, SC, and finally Virginia Beach, VA. Mary will be remembered as a strong-willed woman, devoted and unyielding in her causes to make this world a better place for all of us. Her last wish was to have no service, but to simply be remembered fondly by those she loved, and to be buried in Minoa, NY, near where she and Stanley started their lives together. He retired in 1971 after having been employed with the John Deere Co. for 35 years. He was a member of the United Federated Church of New Woodstock and a lifetime member of the Cazenovia Masonic Lodge. Survived by his son, C. He was a NYS Junior Olympic Boxing Champion. A sportsman who enjoyed fishing,bowling and softball. He was also a speed skater at both the state and national level. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Joyce; his son, Jason; daughters, Casandra and Sara; goddaughter, Samantha Crosby; his father, John and stepmother, Beverly; his mother, Dawn and stepfather, Anthony Herlowski; a loved and respected mentor, Richie Euson; three brothers, John Ungaro, James Ungaro and Kevin Lathrop; and six sisters, Brenda Mauro, Jacqueline Ungaro, Heidi Euson, Joanna Mallory, Kathy Ungaro and Michelle Anderson; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
