November 8, 2004 Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Shirley J. Bennett, 78, formerly of Chestnut Road, North Syracuse, passed Monday with her loving family at her side after a courageous battle with Mesothelioma. She graduated in 1943 from Nottingham High School, and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Rose of Lima Church where she had been a communicant since 1959. In 1991, she retired as general manager for Izod. Predeceasing Mrs. Bennett are her parents, Richard J. and Brigid (Mimi) Noonan Kenyon; her brothers, Richard, Bernard and Jack; and her husband, Harold W. Bennett, on April 7, 1970. November 8, 2004 Helen W. Braverman, 79, of The Nottingham, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Utica, Helen was a resident of Syracuse for the past 50 years. Helen was the Chairman of the Board of Mohawk Dental Supply Co., Inc., which her father founded in 1916. She and her late husband Saul, who died in 1974, were founding members of Congregation Beth Sholom-Chevra Shas. Helen was a lifetime member of Hadassah, and past chairman of the distributor section of the American Dental Trade Association. She was the recipient of a kidney transplant 19 years ago, which she retained for 16 years, allowing her the freedom to continue her active professional life. Survived by her sons, Alan (Susan Hodge) and Charles (Julia Rosen); her sister, Dorothy Seeley; and her brother, Donald Weitzman. November 8, 2004 Samuel J. Fiore Sr., age 86, of Syracuse, passed away Monday at Community General Hospital. He was born in Syracuse and served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was also with the USS McDougal. He was em-ployed with the Carrier Corporation, and was a well-known cosmetologist, graduating at the New York School of Cosmetology. Samuel was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Club and the Camillus Seniors. He was an avid bowler, fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Fiore of Syracuse; two sons, Steven Fiore of East Syracuse and Samuel J. (Dorinda) Fiore Jr. of Minoa; his companion, Beatrice Beverine; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Cavalty of Syracuse; also several nieces and nephews. In his early years he worked for several furniture companies including the former Silverstein Brothers Furniture Company. In 1939 he opened a Western Auto Parts store in Pulaski. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. After the war, he worked for Henson Motors and Barth Mercury dealerships. He retired in 1980 from Heritage Lincoln-Mercury. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 1977. Survived by his half brother Roy Miller of Camden and his sister-in-law Kathryn Miller of Alexander, NY. She graduated from Blodgett Vocational where she enjoyed being a member of the band. She wasa member of Beta Sigma Phi Professional Women's Organization and retired as a Secretary, with NYS Office Of General Services. She enjoyed boating, horseback riding, skiing and traveling with her husband. A cousin and many loving friends survive her. She was employed by City Mattress for 25 years. Judith loved to travel to France. She was a very generous woman, and enjoyed taking care of her friends and family. She was also a gourmet cook and loved orchids. She is survived by her father, Stuart Volan; a brother, Stuart Jr. (Elizabeth); two sisters, Victoria (Larry) Zaleppa and Martha (Bill) Heinekamp; as well as several nieces and nephews.
