November 11, 2004 Frank E. Adams, Jr., 71, of Central Square, died Thursday, November 11, 2004 at his home. Growing up in Clay, he had lived in Constantia for 36 years before moving to Central Square about two years ago. He had attended North SyracuseHigh School before joining the Army National Guard. He was a Millwright at Crucible Specialty Metals, Syracuse for 42 years before retiring 1992. He was past president of Local Steel Workers' Union Local #1277 and past president of the Crucible Retiree Club. Frank was a Korean War Navy Veteran who served as a Boatswains Mate on the USS Wrangell. He was a Chief Petty Officer when he retired from the Fleet Reserve Association in 1994 and was past president and current member of the AE Sailors' Association. Frank was also Past Post Commander and life member of Trach-Auringer VFW Post #7325, Constantia as well as a member of the AARP since 1991. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, the former Virginia Mae Landers; two brothers, Daniel in 1967 and Marshall in 1980; and two sisters, Joan in 1940 and Carolyn in 2004. Surviving are two sons, Charles Adams and Niza Warne of Constantia and Thomas and Karen Adams of Liverpool; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Frank Adams; a sister, Louise Salzman of Liverpool and a brother, John Adams of Clay. Cunningham Sr., 90, of Liverpool, NY, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2004, in Birchwood Health Center, after a short illness. Mr. Cunningham was born on June 17, 1914, in Peekskill, NY, where he lived most of his life, moving to Liverpool in 2002. In 1937 he received a BA in Chemistry from SUNY Albany, followed by an MA in guidance and personnel from NYU in 1951. Mr. Cunningham served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942-1945. Mr. Cunningham was a secondary science teacher, and later, the director of the guidance department at Mahopac High School, where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 1975. Tom loved the fine arts, attending many concerts and art shows while living in Liverpool. Tom was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary T. Troyanovich, in 1998, and his sister, Margaret C. Hourihan. He is survived by three sons and their families, Thomas J. and Susan of Delmar, NY; John A. and Donna of Topsfield, MA; and Michael J. and Kathleen of Cicero, NY; and seven grandchildren, Meghan (Cunningham) Tymoff, and Shane, Cori, Ryan, James, Sean, and Dane Cunningham. Born in Eastwood, NY she was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice Robinson Tuttle. She graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1945. She married Kenneth Hicks on February 1, 1946. She lived in Pulaski for 48 years and worked at the Pulaski Day Care for 10 years. Shirley was a member of the Pulaski Wesleyan Church and the Gideon Auxiliary. She also was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed music, camping, going to Florida for winters and her family. Prior to moving to Mexico seven years ago, Mrs. Walter was active in the Camillus Women's Republican Club, Business and Professional Women and Belle Isle United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, that became the Amboy-Belle Isle United Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Mexico United Methodist Church, the Morning Watch, and the Mexico Historical Society. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and crafts. But her greatest love was her family. "Betty", as she was known to her large circle of friends, passed away Wednesday after an extended battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in 1917 in Solvay. She married Harry DeWallace who predeceased her in 1945. They resided in Syracuse. She later married Robert Welch of North Syracuse who predeceased her in 1993. She was employed by Onondaga Pottery for many years and later the Scotchman newspaper in North Syracuse. She had lived in North Syracuse until her hospitalization. Betty was an avid bowler competing in several leagues until her illness. She was also active in the TOPS program. Betty had a large circle of friends who enjoyed her outgoing personality. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother whose greatest joy was her family, she is survived by sisters, Irene Edmonds and Pauline Beaver; seven children, Carolyn Casey, Harry DeWallace, David DeWallace, Richard Welch, Kathleen Rice, Robert Welch and Carol A. Nichols; many, many grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
