Bailey, of 807 Clayhill Drive, Knightdale, NC, and a former Canastota resident, died Monday, at Duke University Medical Center, following a brief illness. She was born on May 13, 1943, in Syracuse, the daughter of Russell and Mary Brown Jackson. Eileen spent her early years in Syracuse, graduating from Central High School, Syracuse, in 1961. She later graduated from SUNY Oswego in May of 1964, with a degree in Elementary Education. She married John W. Bailey on August 8, 1964. Eileen lived in Canastota for more than 30 years, moving to the Raleigh, NC, area in 1996. She taught elementary school in both Canastota and Oneida from 1964-1972. She joined the W.E. Bailey & Son Insurance Agency in 1973, leaving the agency in 1988 to pursue other opportunities within the insurance industry. She worked as a marketing representative in the central New York area for New York Casualty Insurance Company from 1988-1993 and Quincy Mutual Insurance Company from 1993-1996. Eileen was a Certified Insurance Counselor. She was a member of the Professional Insurance Agents Education Committee and the Madison County Independent Insurance Agents Association. Eileen had been a member of St. Agatha's Church, in Canastota, and was currently a member of St. Raphael's Church, in Raleigh. She enjoyed golf, tennis, walking, gardening, teaching and spending time with family and friends. Survivors: her loving companion, Phillip Hise of Knightdale, NC; a son, Craig T. Higgs, age 77, widow of Wesley "Porky" Higgs, of Phoenix, died Saturday night at Lee Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1993 from B. G. Sulzle Co. Roberta was a Life Member of the Phoenix VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #5540. She was a PastPresident of Phoenix Auxiliary, Oswego County Council and the 5th District. She was currently serving as Auxiliary Secretary. She was a member of the Phoenix Seniors and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. A sister, Virginia Davis died in 2003. Hryvko, William "Bill" November 21, 2004 William "Bill" Hryvko, 74, of Camillus, died Sunday at home. Born in Auburn, he lived in Camillus for 48 years. Bill was a 1949 graduate of Auburn High School and was a maintenance supervisor for General Electric Co. for 40 years, retiringin 1990. He was a communicant of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Auburn. He also served as president of the former St. Michael's Orthodox Church "R" Club and was a member of the church board. Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Karen in 1984 and two sisters, Mary Speck and Irene Rodak. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Betty Kosct; daughter, Kathy E. Michel, Ann C. November 21, 2004 Ann C. Michel, 61, of Syracuse, died Sunday at home after a long illness. An engaged civic and business leader, Ann founded Knowledge Systems & Research, Inc. with four other business partners and led the company for the past 21 years as president and CEO. Under her leadership, KS&R grew from a six-employee start up to a leading international market research and management consulting firm with over 200 employees. A 1965 graduate of Syracuse University, Ann returned to Syracuse in 1970 after working in federal and local government in New York City and Rochester. For eight years, Ann served as Director of Federal and State Aid for the City of Syracuse before leaving government to begin her career as a management consultant. Ann served as Chairperson of the City Planning Commission from 1979 to 1994. Most recently she served as co-chair of Syracuse 20/20 helping to guide the future of the City. Ann also served as a Board Member at the Metropolitan Development Association and as Chair of the ProLiteracy Worldwide Board of Directors. Ann was an active member and former Church Moderator at Plymouth Congregational Church. She recently won the inaugural WISE 2004 Distinguished Entrepreneur award, presented by Syracuse University. In addition to her many business and civic accomplishments, Ann was devoted to her family and friends. Surviving are her husband of 39 years, David; her son Bill and daughter Jennifer, both of Chicago; her brother Robert Cooney of Pennsylvania; and her mother Catherine R. Cooney of Syracuse. He was born in Syracuse and lived in Warners most of his life. Dale graduated from West Genesee High School in 1978. He com-pleted a course in Business Administration at OCC in 1986 and completed a special training course for hydraulic equipment maintenance in Byran, OH in 1982. Dale passed an FAA written exam and soloed single engine aircraft in 1995. He enjoyed golfing and skiing. He was employed with a large construction company and drove several kinds of equipment requiring a CDL license. Rockwell, Kathryn Leaf November 12, 2004 Kathryn Leaf Rockwell, a resident of Seabury Retirement Community in Bloomfield, CT, 82, died Friday, November 12, 2004, at Bloomfield. She was born in Syracuse, NY, and grew up on a dairy farm north of Liverpool. She was the wife of the late Henry L. Rockwell. She was also predeceased by an older brother, Walter T. Leaf of Florida and three nieces, Carolyn Hill, Lois Gross, and Shirley Davy. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Leaf of Coral Springs, FL; two nieces and two nephews, Joanne Ranz of Brewerton, NY, Jeanne Mauro of Liverpool, NY, Robert Leaf of Pompano Beach, FL, and William Leaf of Syracuse, NY. Kathryn graduated from Keuka College near Penn Yan, NY, in 1948 and received and an M.A. in Religious Education from Hartford Seminary in 1951. For 10 years she worked with Agricultural Migrants as Director of Migrant Ministry, Division of Home Missions, National Council of Churches, in New York State and Southeastern States with headquarters in Washington, D.C. She returned to Hartford area as Director of Christian Education at First Church of Christ, New Britain, for five years. For the next 23 years, she taught in the West Hartford Public School System at Morley, Webster Hill, and Wolcott Elementary Schools. Since retirement in 1986, she did volunteer work at Newington Children's Hospital and served as a docent at New Britain Museum of American Art for 12 years. As an active member of the League of Women Voters and the Shuttle Meadow Garden Club, she devoted her time to conservation and natural resources. She was an active member of First Church of Christ, West Hartford, as a deacon and member of the Memorial Garden Committee and Service & Outreach Committees. At Seabury Retirement Community, she was chairman of the Education & Entertainment Committee and an active member of the Play Readers and Senior Academy. A memorial service was held at First Church, West Hartford, on Saturday, November 20, at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the Church's Memorial Garden. Webster, 72, of Central Square, died Sunday, November 22, 2004 at VanDuyn Nursing Home, Syracuse after a long battle with cancer. She had been a life-resident of the Syracuse area. A graduate of Central Tech High School and had been a Home Health Aid. While at VanDuyn, she and her companion, D. Stone, became one by being married by a Hospice Chaplain. Her bright smile, courageous spirit, sharp sense of humor and quick, sometimes biting wit will be missed by all of us.
