A native of Syracuse, Peggy graduated from Paul V. Moore High School, Central Square, in 1967 and resided in Mattydale forthe past 28 years. She was a devoted wife and mother as well as a friend to all. She was a certified foster mother for Onondaga & Oswego County Dept. of Social Services and cared for many children over the past 28 years. She was also a communicant of St. Margaret's RC Church in Mattydale. Her father, Raymond Seymour, predeceased her in 1998. Surviving are her husband and best friend of 25 years, Demetrius "Jim" Bagley; two daughters, Carol M. Burton and Kristina S. Curtis, both of Syracuse; two sons, Raymond J. A native of Montville, CT, she was a World War II US Navy veteran and a graduate of a Connecticut Business School. In 1994 she retired from the Department of International Programs Abroad (D.I.P.A.) at Syracuse University. He was born on January 19, 1914, in New York City. Mr. Hecht was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Commerce and Finance, Class of 1935. He was a four time winner of the National Indoor Singles Tennis Competition; in 1929 in the Boys Championship, and in 1930, 1931, and 1932 in the Junior Championship. During his retirement on Longboat Key, he was a member of the Longboat Key Club Senior Men's Red Team, in five years of undefeated doubles competition. He was president and owner of Guaranteed Parts Co., Inc. of Seneca Falls, NY, the Marketing Division, as well as General Products Corporation of Union Springs, NY, and Ocram Corporation, of Seneca Falls, NY, manufacturers of small automotive parts for both the replacement and original market. He was a former director of the State Bank of Seneca Falls, NY, and member of the President's Council of Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls, NY, and the Union Springs, NY, zoning board. He was a charter member of the Union Springs Lions Club and a member of the Union Springs Planning Board. Mrs. Russell was born June 24, 1931, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Frank and Elsie Baker Bateman. She graduated from OFA in 1948 and graduated from Wallace Secretarial School in Ogdensburg. She worked at McAdam Cheese, St. Lawrence University and later at the Central Square School District in the nurse's office. She also worked as an executive secretary in the hotel industry in Texas and briefly in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Russell was a communicant of St. Mary's Cathedral, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary. Donations may be made to St. Mary's Cathedral in her memory. Published in the Syracuse Post Standard on 11/30/2004. Talev, Blaga November 29, 2004 Blaga Talev, of Onondaga Hill, widow of the late Nikola Talev, passed away at home Monday at the age of 88. She was born in Bitola, Macedonia and immigrated to the U.S. with her husband and five sons in 1960. She was employed atEdwards & Son as a seamstress. She volunteered for many years at the Salvation Army. Her life was devoted to her family and church. She was a giving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her five sons, Kosta (Lenche), Slavko (Nada), Stefan (Susan), John (Cathy), and Peter (Theresa), all of Onondaga Hill; sisters, Aspasija of Fairmount and Anastasija of Bitola, Macedonia; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church and St. George Macedonian Eastern Orthodox Church. Her strong religious faith was affirmed to three pilgrimages to Jerusalem and the Middle East. Her legacy of unselfishness, kindness and devotion will always be an inspiration to all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1 at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church, 607 Tecumseh Rd., Dewitt, NY. Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Varg, Marion Knapp November 27, 2004 Marion Knapp Varg, 92, of Syracuse, died Saturday. She was a graduate of Central City Business School. Marion was a secretary for the Dept. of Transportation for over 20 years, a communicant of Holy Trinity Church, an avid walker. Predeceased by her brother, John Knapp, in 2003. Survivors: one sister, Bernice K. Brooks of Manlius, NY; several nephews. Born in Westchester, PA, she retired in 1999 from the Cayuga County Department of Social Services as the medical liaison. Her husband, Melvin E., died in 1992. Surviving: two sons, James of Auburn, Paul of Bainbridge; three daughters, Donna of California, Sharon of Port Byron, Melanie of South Carolina; and 12 grandchildren.
