September 23, 2004 William R. Castle, formerly of Syracuse, died in Walnut Creek, California, on September 23, 2004. He was 84. A native of Williamstown, NY, he served in the Army in WWII and received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Syracuse University. He was a devoted husband, loving father and loyal friend. He was also an avid golfer and fisherman. His wife, Esha (Sweeney) Castle and son, William W., preceded him in death. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the County of Oswego. He had previously retired from AllTel, and was a foreman at Nestle's for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Hayes, Dolores Orzell October 6, 2004 Dolores Orzell Hayes, 78, of Onondaga Hill, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and communicant of St. Michael's Church, Onon-daga Hill. Dolores was also an auxiliary member and longtime supporter of the Chadwick Residence, and had been active with Vera House. An avid golfer, she was a member of West Hill Ladies Golf League. A devoted wife and homemaker, Dolores took great pride and joy in her children and grandchildren, and was active in their lives. Genealogy, sewing, and gardening were also among her interests. Her husband, Carl A. Hayes, passed away in January, and son James in 1981. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Orzell. Surviving are her daughters, Roberta Zerrahn of Farmington, Nancy (Ralph) Cinnamon of Onondaga Hill; sons, J. He was a member of the DAV and VFW. He retired in 1979 from Carrier Corp. after many years and was a member of the Sheet Metal Union. He was a veteran of WWII, U.S. Air Force, and was a mechanic for the B-17 Bomber. September 16, 2004 Everett B. Richards, 95, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2004 at Pinecrest Place, Largo, FL. He was born September 7, 1909 in Nelson, NY. He was a mason of Lodge #616 and VFW, Cazenovia, NY. Everett acquired his pilots license in 1929, during the 30's, he barnstormed the East Coast in an old bi-plane, worked for an air line and taught many students how to fly. In the early part of World War II, he was selected to deliver bombers to the British in North Africa, also ferried P-39's and P-38's to the British and Russians, this he did as a civilian. He entered the Army Air Corp. with many assignments which includes training British students to fly and Director of Operations at Kano, N. Germany, earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. As a civilian, he owned a gas station and sport shop in Nelson, NY. He spent his retirement years in Zephyrhills and Largo, FL. Rosenbloom, Sara October 6, 2004 Sara Rosenbloom, 92, formerly of 117 Alpine Drive, died Wednesday at The Jewish Health and Rehabilitation Center at Menorah Park. Sara was a life resident of Syracuse. She was the executive housekeeper, then a psychological therapist at St. Joseph's Hospital until retiring in 1975. Sara was a member, and Sunday school teacher at Temple Adath Yeshurun, and an active volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was predeceased by her daughter Helene Weiner in 1994, and her son Morris in 2004. Survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Edwin) Schwartz and Ida (Joseph) Korzelius; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
