"Bill" Derocher Jr., 82, of Erie Village, East Syracuse, died at home. A native of Glens Falls, he graduated from Glens Falls High School. He retired as a boiler machinery engineer, having worked for various insurance companies. He wasa member of the Blue Goose Insurance Association and enjoyed big band music, golf, bowling, playing the harmonica and drums, and riding his Honda Helix. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Torrence during WWII and enjoyed many reunions with his shipmates. He was predeceased by his parents, and his daughter Susan died in 1980. Survivors: his wife, the former Liz Wood, together 38 years; a daughter, Ellen (Bill) Melchionni of Loundonville; two sons, William J. III of Constantia and Daniel J. Clinton Getty passed away peacefully at home in Fayetteville on Saturday at the age of 89. Born August 8, 1915, in Hudson, NY, with his brothers Edward C. Getty of San Juan, Puerto Rico (deceased), and Dr. Ralph W. Getty of Au-burn (deceased), Clint graduated from Syracuse University in 1939 with a degree in civil engineering and became a member of the Theta Tau Fraternity. He served his country as a sergeant in the Army during World War II, stationed at Oak Ridge, TN, during the development of nuclear research as part of the Manhattan Project. After SU, in 1939, he met Mary Wheeler Walker at Big Moose Lake in the Adirondacks. Clint and Mary were married on December 14, 1946. In the mid-1950s they began to use their summer residence an Craig Point, Big Moose Lake. It was here that they enjoyed many happy years with their friends and children. Clint became a licensed professional engineer and land surveyor in the states of Kansas and New York. Clint was employed in the Kansas and Nebraska area while working for the TVA and Corps of Engineers on various large dam construction projects. He was also involved as one of the underground surveyors in the underground freshwater tunnel system that now serves NYC. Clint also found time to become a 32nd-degree Mason. In 1956 Clint and Mary settled in Fayetteville, NY. After 28 years as a civil engineer with GE, located at Electronics Parkway, Liverpool, he retired in 1980. In 1960 the town of Manlius appointed Clint as town engineer. He always was very active and proud of his service to the local community. He retired from the position of town engineer in 1988 after 28 years of service. Clint also had a private land surveying business in the CNY area as well as the Adirondack, Big Moose and Old Forge areas. On November 21, 1991, after 45 years of marriage, Mary, his wife, passed away. Survivors: a son, George C. Getty of Raleigh, NC, with his wife Victoria, granddaughter, Kimberly and grandson Peter; a daughter, Lucinda G. Bush of North Syracuse with her husband Gerald, granddaughter Anita and a great-grandson; a son, Andrew W. Getty of Old Forge, with his wife Barbara, grandsons Andrew and Alex and granddaughters Jennifer and Elizabeth; and a daughter Louanne G. Getty of Utica. Born in Syracuse, NY, the son of Charles R. and Betty (Premo) Gilbert, Mr. Gilbert was employed as vice president of Southco Industries. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Len was a marvelous father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a man of deep faith and a daily communicant. He graduated from Niagara University, was a captain in the Ar-my and retired from Duralith Corporation. He was a retired service engineer from J.W. Stevens Boiler Service in Syracuse after 23 years. He had also worked at General Electric Co. for 22 years. A WWII Army veteran, he was a life member of Trach-Auringer VFW Post #7325, Constantia; American Legion Post #858, Cleveland; and American Veterans Post #4, Massena. She was born in Bronx, NY, on September 6, 1926, and moved to Syracuse with her family in 1958. She retired as an employee of Price Chopper in 1991. During her youth shewas an accomplished dancer, and in Syracuse she was an instructor of dancing as well as of ceramics. For the past 11 years she was a resident of Bennett Manor in E. Syracuse. Mr. McKinnon was born on June 4, 1932, in Peabody, MA, to the late Kenneth and Elizabeth McKinnon. Mr. McKinnon was a devoted husband, father, brother andgrandfather. He retired from the New York State Canal System in August 1994 after 30 years of service. He was also an avid golfer and sports fan. Memorial Hospital. She was born in Fulton and remained a resident of Fulton for most of her life. She retired as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. In 1986 she retired from the Oswego County Health Dept. as the public health administrator. Mrs. Sullivan was a member of the Fulton Historical Society, Fulton Zoning Board and the Fulton Board of Education. She was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Rose Sullivan. Washburn, 63, of Brickyard Road, Syracuse, formerly of Moravia, died Saturday, October 9, 2004, at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, after a courageous 9 1/2 year battle with cancer. Joan had a successful 38-year career at Chronicle Guidance Publishing Company in Moravia, specializing in financial aid. Joan was also known for her watercolor paintings and precise needlework. She was born March 23, 1941, the daughter of Esther Dwyer of Venice Center, who survives her, and the late Donald E. Washburn of Bridgewater. She is also survived by her close friend and companion Joseph Bergerstock of Baldwinsville. A native of Granby, Mr. West had resided most of his life in the Martville area. He retired in 1990 from North End Paper Mills in Fulton, after 15 years as a third-hand processor. Previously he worked at the Sterling Co-op and at his family farm in Sterling for many years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. West was predeceased by two brothers, Harold West and Floyd West. Surviving are his brother, Leonard West; and several nieces and nephews.
