October 10, 2004 Rhoda J. Allen, 51, of 318 Primo Avenue, Sherrill, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at the Oneida Healthcare Center. Born in Canastota on November 27, 1952, she was the daughter of Stuart and Jean Hatch Wesseldine. A lifelong resident of the area, Mrs. Allen graduated from Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School, Class of 1970. She married Robert Allen on February 3, 1973, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Oneida. Mrs. Allen devoted her life as a housewife and mother to her family. She was very involved with the Sherrill Youth Center and was of the Protestant faith. Surviving besides her husband Robert is her mother, Jean Wesseldine of Sherrill; three daughters and one son-in-law, Amy L. Allen of Sherrill, Beth Allen-Taylor and Nicholas Taylor of Oneida, and Kelly M. Allen of Sherrill; one son, Keith M. Allen of Sherrill; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ralph and Betty Wesseldine of Sherrill, and Charles and Judy Wesseldine of Oneida Castle; one grandson, Kayden Allen; and several nieces and nephews. October 10, 2004 Richard F. Kunder, 87, of Syracuse, died October 10. He was born and raised in Richmond Hill and later moved to Manhattan. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School and from the City College of N.Y. with a Civil Engineering degree. Mr. Kunder worked at the Museum of Natural History and for the Corps of Engineers. In 1943 he joined Pitometer Associates, Consulting Engineers monitoring water systems throughout the country and Canada. From 1953 to 1963 he conducted Pitometer's Annual underground leakage survey in Syracuse. When in 1964 Elan Stewart retired as the city's Water Engineer, he succeeded him and held that position until his own retirement in 1984. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie Biehl Kunder; his brother, Lawrence of Micco, Florida; Rev. Joseph F. Kane and the St. Andrew and Loretto Communities. After high school, she became a full time stay-at-home mother and raised five children. She was an active member and past president of the Lysander Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Most recently, besides visiting her children and grandchildren out of state, she was an avid crafter and heirloom quilt maker.
