Born in Solvay, she lived in Lakeland most of her life. She was a seamstress at Learbury's for over 40 years, retiring in 1975. Helen was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, and enjoyed traveling, gardening and knitting. Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Louis Palladino of Marcellus; three grandchildren, Michele Brignull, Michael and James Palladino; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. October 19, 2004 Donald W. Bombard, age 74, of North Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday at the home of his daughter. He was born in Syracuse and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He formerly owned and operated Bombard's Grocery on Bear St. for over seven years. He was employed in the motor freight industry for over 40 years and was a member of the Teamsters Local 317. He is survived by his wife, Elsie (Douglas) Bombard; three children, Kevin L. (Carol) Morris of Marcellus, Delaine L. Bombard and Douglas C. After serving in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam from 1969 to 1971, he was employed by New Process Gear and retired from Omega Wire Co. in 1999. She also worked at Sears, Hess's, BonTon and Rehabilitation Technologies. She was a former volunteer for the Camillus Ski Hill Association. For 15 years, Linda won blue ribbons at the NYS Fair for cake decorating and desserts. Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Conrad R. Hess; and uncle, William Knakal of Camillus. Her son, Jason C. October 19, 2004 Mildred (Griswold) Sherwood, 96, of Camillus, died Tuesday. Born in Cortlandville, NY, she attended Cortland Normal to become a school teacher. She moved to the village of Camillus in 1929 and worked with her husband as an apprentice at Sherwood Pharmacy until 1986. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Republican Club, a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star, and a Gold Star Mother for 52 years. She was predeceased by her husband Gifford in 1994, a son Sheldon, and great-grandson Jacob. Survived by a son Leonard and daughter-in-law Jane of Camillus; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at B.L. Bush & Sons, 10 Genesee St, Camillus. Burial in North Norwich Cemetery. Published in the Syracuse Post Standard on 10/21/2004. Stabile, Carmen J. October 16, 2004 Carmen J. Stabile, 91, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday at James Square Nursing Home. He was born in Bristol, Rhode Island, and lived in Syracuse most of his life. He was a Navy WWII veteran, a member of IAAC and Disabled American Veterans. He was also a self-employed cab driver for 50 years. Carmen was predeceased by his wife Lorraine and son Richard Stabile. He is survived by three sisters, Mary Cerio of Syracuse, Helen Capozzi of Liverpool, Kate Kroell of E. Syracuse; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. Stopyro, Joseph C. October 19, 2004 Joseph C. Stopyro, 77, of Marcellus, died Tuesday at the Francis House. Life resident of Marcellus. He was the sextant at St. Francis Xavier Church for over 33 years. He was a member of Ralph Share Post #297 American Legion. He was a Navy veteran of WW2. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary Stopyro in 1974. Survivors: his wife of 28 years, the former Nancy Austin; three sons, Mike (Joanne) Stopyro of Florida, Joseph (Anna) Stopyro of New Hampshire, Andrew Stopyro of Syracuse; stepson, Richard Fowler of Canandaigua; two daughters, Terry (Donn) Underwood of Florida and Jody Hollington of Alabama; stepdaughter, Carol (Jeff) DeLany of Clay; two sisters, Blanch Griffin and Catherine Kalkbernner, both of Marcellus; two brothers, Stanley of Marcellus and Donald of Texas; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Born in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Bryerton Kochianski. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert; two daughters, Darlene Webster of N. Syracuse and Gail Kofkee of Camillus; three sons, Wynn of Liverpool, John of N. Syracuse, and Robert of Clay; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
