She was born August 14, 1939 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late Paul Napoleon Socia and Gladys Nora (Howard) Socia. On April 1973, Judith was united in marriage to Patrick "Pat" J. Barry who preceded her in death on December 12, 2003. She is survived by two stepsons, William (Victoria) Barry of Liverpool, NY, and Brian (Lisa) Barry of Marina, CA; two grandchildren; one sister, Susan (Robert) Westfall of Waverly, OH; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brick was a graduate of Watertown High School, attended Wellesley College, and was a 1937 graduate of Syracuse University, where she was a member of AEPhi Sorority. Emily was associated with her family's business, Herr's, a ladies specialty store in Watertown, and remained active with her husband in the business until retiring in 1972. Mrs. Brick was active in many community activities. She was awarded a life membership in Beta Sigma Phi women's organization in recognition of her service. In 1998, she established the 1Lt. Charles H. Herr scholarship, was active in the Young Marines program, and the American Legion. She was predeceased by her husband, Arch in 1988, and a son, Stephen in 1942. Born in Syracuse, sister was the daughter of the late Bartholomew and Mary Shannon Edgeworth, she was in the 74th year of her life as a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Sister was a graduate of Central City Business School, Syracuse, and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the College of Saint Rose, Albany. Sister Anne taught in schools of the Albany and Syracuse Dioceses, including; Catholic Central High School, Troy, Bishop Grimes High School, Syracuse, and schools in Rome, Catskill, and Amsterdam. She also served the Albany Province of the Sisters of St. Joseph as secretary to the director of personnel, provincial secretary, and director of communication. Sister was a teacher for many years in Syracuse and Utica, NY, as well as in several schools in New Jersey. Sister was currently a teacher for 15 years at Blessed Sacrament School in Margate, NJ, and retired in January 2004, due to a serious illness. He retired in 1985 from Lincoln Bank after 34 years of service and Solvay Bank in 1991 after six years of service. He was a member of American Institute of Banking and a graduate of School of Consumer Banking at University of Virginia. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Born in Syracuse in 1920, he was a practicing attorney in the community for over 40 years. He attended Solvay High School and earned his bachelor's degree in 1941 and his law degree in 1949, both from Syracuse University. Between college and law school he was a pilot in the Army Air Corps, flying 31 missions in the European Theater during WWII. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service. A man of diverse interests, he was, at various times during his life, a boxer, a wilderness fisherman, a sports writer and an amateur photographer. He was a press box announcer for Syracuse University football for three decades. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Geneva A. Terziev; his son, Marc N. Terziev of Sunnyvale, CA; his daughter, Alexandra J. Terziev (Greenleaf) of Rochester; and his grandchildren, Katherine, Nicholas, and Jeffrey. His brother John and sister Frances predeceased him. Syracuse since 1952. She was predeceased by her son Leroy R. Van Luven in February. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Leroy; a daughter, Lorraine Van Luven; a son, R. Paul Van Luven; two sisters, Dorothy Nichols, Florence Natwora; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services: none. There will be no calling hours. Vrabel, Peter October 24, 2004 Peter Vrabel, 89, died Sunday at St. Camillus HRC. He was born in Plymouth, PA, and moved to Syracuse in 1939. He was a sergeant with the U.S. Army serving in WWII. Peter was employed by Allied Chemical, retiring in 1978. He was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Erie Canal Society and a communicant of Holy Family Church. Survived by his wife, Lena; two sons, Michael (Beverly) of Lakeland and Peter (Marilynn) of Onondaga Hill; a sister, Ann Leonard of Wilkes-Barre, PA; seven grandchildren, Teresa Duke, Michael, Tami Posnick, Greg, Peter, Sara, Molly; six great-grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Whelan Bros. Funeral Home, 3700 W. Zory, Georgette Lewis October 25, 2004 Georgette Lewis Zory, 86, of Syracuse, died Monday at home. She was born in Montreal and was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Georgette was a former communicant of St. Stephen's Church from 1945 to 1986 and presidentof the Altar & Rosary Society. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Her husband, Paul J. Zory, Sr., died in 1986 and son, Steven M. Zory, died in 1997. Surviving are two daughters, Catherine L. (Richard) Gilmore of Camillus and Mary Rose (Leonard) Sgroi of Syracuse; one son, Paul J. (Kathleen) Zory, Jr. of No. Syracuse; one sister, Jane E. Lewis of Camillus; daughter-in- law, Janet Zory of Camillus; five grandchildren, Megan (Ronald) Law of MI; Jennifer and Erin Zory, both of No. Syracuse, and David and Sarah Gilmore, both of Camillus; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Madison and Mackenzie Law, all of MI; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
