He was a graduate of Syracuse University, College of Engineering with a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a Manufactures Rep. for several IndustrialChemical Engineering Companies. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII. Mr. Arnold was a member and Trustee of First Presbyterian Church United, a life-member of the Y.M.C.A. and was a Handball Masters Champion as recently as 1983. He was a member of the S.U. Football team and an avid lifetime supporter of its Athletic Dept. He was on the Board of the National Figure Skating Association, a member of the Ice Club of Syracuse, the Syracuse Toastmasters and the Fayetteville Optimist. Surviving are his wife, Elaine; two sons, Gaylon B. Arnold of Rochester, NY and Brian D. Arnold of North Syracuse; a sister, Freda Kirkley of Fayetteville; a brother, Calvin of Naples, FL; two grandchildren, Alexis and Brielle and several nieces and nephews. Baker, E. Winston "Win" October 26, 2004 E. Winston "Win" Baker, 91, of Baldwinsville, died Tuesday at the Veterans Medical Center, Syracuse. He was born in Syracuse and had lived in the Baldwinsville area most of his life. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre.He started the Baker Insurance Agency in 1939 and retired in 1984. He was one of the founding members of the American Legion Vernice Suttle Post 113 and a member of the Baldwinsville VFW Post 153. He was a past president of the Baldwinsville Board of Education, a founding member of the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce, and awarded Man of the Year in 1969. He was a member of the Baldwinsville Lyons Club and a volunteer for the Baldwinsville Meals on Wheels. He is predeceased by his wife, Helen G. Baker who passed away in 2002. He served with the U.S. Army under the direction of General Patton and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also in the European Theatre from 1944 to 1945. He was employed with Allied Signal-Honeywell, retiring in 1983, after 38 years of service. John was a member of the American Legion Post 41, Allied Signal Retirees Club and CCC from 1937 to 1939. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he loved to tinker and be at the summer home in Skaneateles. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret E. (Brown) Capone; a son, Guy C. A native of Illion, he received a BS degree from Syracuse University. He was the founder and president of R-D Chambers Associates and co-owner of Algeo Manufacturing. He was an ardent SU football fan, a longtime member of the Cavalry Golf Club, and a member of the NYS Association of Certified Football Officials who officiated many high school football games. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed in India and Tinian. He was predeceased by his parents, DeWitt and Ruth Chambers, and his brother, William Chambers. Quinn, 81, of Palm Harbor, FL, died on Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at Curlew Care Assisted Living Facility, Clearwater, FL. He left his native Syracuse, NY, in 1956. A political science graduate of the University of Miami, he retired as a teacher and administrator of the Dade County School System. An Army veteran of WWII, he served as a paratrooper and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the 511th Parachute Infantry Association, the Carpenters Union Retiree Club #110, and the DAV, Chapter 11, and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Syracuse. He was a worldwide traveler, enjoyed playing tennis, gardening, and listening to music. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverly (Weeks). Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Worcester of Palm Harbor, FL, Colleen Dabkowski of Clearwater, FL, and Cyndi Wingo of Anapolis, MD; four grandchildren, Jennifer and David Schoen, Ashley and Brandon Dabkowski; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Auburn, she was a 1954 graduate of Jordan High School. Mrs. Sargent was an administrative assistant and human resource manager for Telcove, Inc. She was active in her community and an advocate for the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, most recently participating in the The Walk: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, for the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Sargent was predeceased by her husband Thomas J., who died in 1980. She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey J. (Karyl) of LaFayette and Todd W. (Tracy) of Baldwinsville; a brother Jack (Carol) Baumgartner of Watertown; two grandsons, Thomas and Christopher; and travel partner and companion, Geoff Browne of Antioch, IL. October 26, 2004 Mary Yourst, 91, formerly of South Ivy Trail, passed away Tuesday morning at Van Duyn Home & Hospital, Syracuse. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Mary was born August 30, 1913 in North Jackson, OH, a daughter of Michael and Ka-rolin Bodnar Kuzniak, and lived most of her life in the area. She was a homemaker and also worked for five years at the General Electric's Mazda Lamp Plant in the 1930's. She was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, and was active in many church activities, especially as a pyrohy worker. She was a past member of the Kent State University Mother's Club, a former Girl Scout Leader, and was a precinct poll worker. Her husband, Steve Yourst, whom she married on July 4, 1938, died January 5, 1996. She leaves two daughters, Carole Kline of Baldwinsville and Patricia (John) Koontz of Kent; a son, Steve (Connie) Yourst of Vestal, NY; a sister, Millicent Laufman of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Melinda Kline, Wendy Koontz, Darci Houser, Darci Houser, Mark and Matt Yourst and Melanie Schmidt; and two great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn; a brother, Stanley Kuzniak; a sister, Anne Balint and a son-in-law, Ronald Kline.
