Prior to moving to Florida in 1986, Rose was active in various Jewish organizations in Syracuse and continued in Florida as a volunteer for the North Broward Hospital District and Library System. She also served on the Broward County Elections Board and was an active Mah Jongg player and bowler. She will be greatly missed. Her husband, Hy predeceased her in 1999 after 55 years of marriage. September 8, 2004 James Richard "Dick" Murray, 74, of Liverpool, died Wednesday at home. He grew up in Nedrow and went to school at Rockwell and Valley Academy. He raised his children in LaFayette and later lived in Liverpool and spent summers onthe St. Lawrence River. He was a 48-year member of Carpenters Local #12 and 747 and was an active member of the Carpenters Retirees Club. He was past president of the LaFayette Trail Riders Snowmobile Club and was one of the founders of the snowmobile "Sno Cross" race. He was a cowboy and a pirate. He ran the Pirate Boat Parade in Alexandria Bay during the Pirates Weekend celebration. HE WAS A PROUD MEMBER OF THE JIMMY BUFFETT PARROT HEADS. He was an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Murray and his mother, Alice "Lolly" Murray. September 8, 2004 Memorial Services for Mrs. Evelyn I. Perry, age 96, of Hideaway, are scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday evening in the Chapel of Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale. The Rev. Harold Pearson will officiate. Mrs. Perry died Wednesday in a Tyler Hospice Center. She was born April 29, 1908 in Auburn, New York, the daughter of Joseph and Eva Josephine Duncan Payne. Mrs. Perry retired from Syracuse University as Records Secretary and moved to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1970, and then to Hideaway in 1996, and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Mr. Erwin E. Perry in 1988 and a son, Robert Perry in 2003. Mrs. Perry is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Joyce Perry of Hideaway, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Jeane Ray Perry of Calhoun, Georgia; and by eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Pluff, age 85, of Jamesville, passed away Saturday in the VA Medical Center after receiving two years of wonderful care from his friends at the Iroquois Nursing Home. Mr. Pluff was employed as a steel worker by VEGA Industries before re-tiring. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Pluff was predeceased by his wife, the former Ann Piselli in 1995. Surviving are a son, J. Daniel (Diane) Pluff of Jamesville; two granddaughters, Anna and Sophia. Mr. Pluff was an avid hunter and fisherman in spite of his paralysis. In recent years he enjoyed spending his time with Sophia and Anna. Funeral services were conducted Thursday in the PIRRO AND SONS FUNERAL HOME. Syracuse, beloved husband and father passed away Wednesday at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse. He was born May 25, 1929, in Erie, PA, and graduated from Niagara Falls High School and at-tended Niagara University, the University of Buffalo before graduating from Gannon College with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He served proudly in the Air Force during the Korean War. Red retired in 1995 after many years as an electrical engineer for General Electric and spent the last four years in Saudi Arabia. He was a past Town Councilman and was an active member of the Town of Cicero Political community in the 1970s. Red's local involvement extended to the Lions Club eyeglass project and coaching for the N. Syracuse Babe Ruth League. He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse. He was predeceased by his daughter Paula Knechtel in 2002. Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, the former Donna Matheson, originally from Niagara Falls Ontario; a son Richard D. Wemett of Clay; two daughters, Sherilynn Valle of Clay, Teri Singleton of Stillwater; 13 grandchildren, Travis, Justin, Richelle, Chaundra, Aaron, Rhianna, Lisa, Cristina, Carlos, Elena, Ryan, Kayla; and five great-grandchildren. Vincent retired in 1980 after 47 years of employment with Crucible Steel. He was born in Martha's Vinyard, MA and had resided in Wilton, NH 35 years. He represented the fifth generation of the family business, Hampshire Hills Farms, one for the largest milk and apple producers in the east and the Whiting Milk Co. of Boston, MA. He served on the Town Budget Committee and was a volunteer Fireman in Wilton. He graduated from the Vermont Academy where he played football. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire 1952. In 1964 he became territory manager of the John Deere Company, Syracuse and lived in Copperstown, NY and a member of the Cooperstown Country Club. In 1970, he became Division Manager, Insurance for the Syracuse Branch and lived in Fayetteville. Retired to Cazenovia in 1981. He was a member of the Cazenovia Club, where he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Taylor Whiting; two daughters, Elizabeth Anne and Jane Taylor Whiting both of Cazenovia; one sister, Martha Whiting Cox of Hobe Sound, FL and Nantucket, MA.
