September 7, 2004 Anna M. Beach, 76, of Brookfield, died Tuesday. Services 5 p.m. Sunday at the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield. Buck, Kirk Manson September 9, 2004 Kirk Manson Buck, a former business executive, World War II veteran, and longtime resident of Fayetteville, died at St. Joseph's Hospital after a short illness. He had lived in Chittenango for the past several years. Mr. Buck was born Janu-ary 26, 1918, in Norfolk, VA, the son of the late Commander (USN) Thomas Manson Buck and Franklin Baxter Buck. He grew up around many naval bases in the United States and the Pacific, graduating from Port Angeles High School, where he was known as "Crash" Buck for his football skills. He played tight end for the Huskies of the University of Washington until the second world war interrupted his studies. Mr. Buck served in the Fourth Infantry Division and entered France with them at Utah Beach, June 6, 1944. He led his soldiers through, among others, the Battle of Ste Mere Eglise, The Battle of the Hurtgen Forest, and the Battle of the Bulge and received a battle commission to First Lieutenant when his commanding officer was shot out of a boat when the Division crossed the Rhine at Bingen. Upon completion of his army service, Mr. Buck enrolled in the College of Forestry at Syracuse University, from which he graduated in 1950. He worked in various executive capacities in Syracuse area companies, including many years at Chapman Lumber Company and subsequently with Titan Box and Bridgeport Crating. Mr. Buck was predeceased by a son Frank Buck, his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Jane Seamans, his grandson Jonathan Kirk Ogilvie of New Canaan, CT, and his wife of nine years, Susan Simmonds. Survivors: his daughters, Pamela Ogilvie (Peter) of New Canaan, CT, and Patricia Sweeney (James) of Chittenango; three grandsons, Timothy and Douglas Ogilvie of New Canaan, CT, and Matthew Sweeney of Chittenango; a brother, Kenneth Buck of Tacoma, WA; two stepsons, Robert Smith (Valerie) of Pennellville and James Smith (Donna) of Manlius, and their children, Danielle and Greg Smith, Michael, Kevin, and Kristine Smith. Memorial Services: 3 p.m. Saturday, September 25, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chittenango. Interment will be private in Fayetteville Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Conklin Jr. of Liverpool died Friday, September 10, 2004, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided and attended schools in NY, NJ and PA before moving to Liverpool in the 1930's. He served in the Pacific during WWII as a Marine and later joined the Naval Reserves. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 317 and retired from Acme Markets in 1977. During his retirement, he was active with the Syracuse Senior Cyclones Softball team. He loved traveling, camping, snowshoeing, and mountain climbing. He was a member of the Liverpool First United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor Gettman Conklin, in 2003. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy C. Carter of N. Syracuse and Susan C. (Robert) Kilfoyle of Liverpool; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Born in Syracuse, a resident of Clay since 1981, Mary retired from Tubbert's Restaurant in Syracuse and was a former member of theBaldwinsville Woman's Auxiliary of the Moose Chapter 649, and a communicant of St. Johns Church. Her husband, John W. Daly died February 6, 2001. Surviving are a sister, Kathleen Hawk of Oswego and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be Friday, October 15, 2004 at 11 a.m. at St. Johns Church, 8290 Soule Rd., Liverpool. Private burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Garvey, Mary Lourdes September 10,2004 Mary Lourdes Garvey, 79, of 710 West First Street, Fulton, passed away Friday in A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital. She was born in Albany, NY, the daughter of the late John S. and Marie (Dunn) Frawley. Mrs. Garvey graduated from the academy of the Holy Names and the Mildred Ellie School both of Albany. Mrs. Garvey is survived by her loving husband John F. Garvey of Fulton; her daughter Dianne Garvey of Dennisport, MA; her sons, John B. Garvey of Fulton, Daniel L. Garvey of Watchung, NJ, and Stephen M. Garvey of Yardley, PA; and she adored her grandchildren, Kyle, Tara, Jake, Ben, and Sara. Hines, Dorothy Foster September 9, 2004 Dorothy Foster Hines, 94, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday at Iroquois Nursing Home. Born in Lyons, NY, on April 11, 1910, Dorothy was a near-lifelong resident of the Syracuse area and retired from the College of Home Economics at Syracuse University in 1975 after a long and distinguished career. She was widowed by Robert G. Foster in 1969 and subsequently by Ralph M. Hines in 1999. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her son Robert G. Foster Jr. and his wife Anita of Princeton, NJ; her daughter Karen McNall of Laguna Hills, CA; her stepdaughter Susan Ballard and husband Robert of Syracuse; and her stepdaughter Karolyn Hagadorn of Randolph, NJ. She also leaves loving grandchildren, Linda Jiles of Syracuse, Nancy Miller of Kendall Park, NJ, and Dustin Deminna of Laguna Hills, CA, as well as five great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held on Monday, September 13, at 11 a.m. Friends and family are invited to call between 10 to 11 a.m. prior to services at the church. Kresge III, Ralph Arlington August 27, 2004 Ralph Arlington Kresge, III, formerly of Syracuse, passed away in Denver on August 27 at the age of 57. While serving in the Vietnam War from 1966-1968, Ralph earned several medals of valor, including the Bronze Star. Husband to Janice Coleman of KS; proud father of Stephanie Kresge and Ralph Kresge IV of CA. He is also survived by his mother, Aleda Kresge of Skaneateles; siblings, Aleda Kresge of CO, Paul Kresge of CO, and David Kresge of CA; and his aunt, Pauline Komar of Syracuse. His extended family includes dear friends, cousins and many nieces and nephews in central New York. Ralph will be remembered for his sense of humor, enduring kindness, unending quest for knowledge, passion for politics and crossword puzzle wit. Services were held in Colorado. Born in Schotts, Scotland, he was a Syracuse area resident since 1929. George retired from the NY Telephone Co. and was past Chief of Clan Douglas. He played bag pipes with many local bands. He was an Army WWII veteran. He was predeceased by his wife Nora and a son Robert. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, James and Mary Ellen McVicker of Syracuse; daughter-in-law Chris McVicker of Morrisville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. (Radziszewski) Reiss, 85, of 501 Willis Ave., Syracuse, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, September 10, 2004. Virginia was the daughter of Konstanty Radziszewski and Helen Caroline (Radziwon) Radziszewski, who passedaway September 10, 1962. Her parents emigrated to America in 1905 from Bransk, Poland. Virginia was born in Syracuse on May 24, 1919 and had been a member of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus all her life. Virginia graduated from Cathedral Academy in 1937. She married Edward H. Reiss on July 8, 1940 at Sacred Heart Church. In her early years, she worked in the home of Dr. and Mrs. F. Geiger of Dewitt St., Syracuse. For most of her career, Virginia was a banquet waitress for Hotel Syracuse and a member of the Hotel Workers and Service Employees Union. During the 1950's and 60's she was featured in many stage productions in various groups around Syracuse. They included the S.T.A.G.E. Players, Syracuse Little Theatre, Community Theater of Syracuse and the State Fair Theater Company. Virginia was a member of the Symfonia Choral Society of Sacred Heart Church and Sacred Heart Church Choir. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward H. Reiss on April 12, 1999 and six brothers, Frank, Stanley, Edwin, Phillip, Joseph and Edward; two sisters, Victoria and Helen. Surviving: son, Paul D. Reiss and friend Janice Peterson; daughters, Sharon A. Meddley of Hampton, VA and Margot T.(Richard) Cole of Hannible; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; 27 nieces and nephews. Sullivan, 46, of 6 Miller Drive, Homer, died Thursday at Cortland Memorial Hospital. Born in Canastota, Linda was a longtime Chittenango resident and also resided in Texas and Pennsylvania, moving to Homer four years ago. Linda was involved in the foster parent program for 10 years. Surviving are her husband of 24 years, Michael D.; two sons, Jarrett Sullivan and Sean Sullivan, both at home; her parents, Lisa and Richard Rauscher of Chittenango; two sisters, Rosemarie Palmer of Wesley Chapel, Fl., and Lore Kogut of Cazenovia; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha and Richard Sullivan of Chittenango; and several nieces and nephews.
