"Frank" September 13, 2004 Vito "Frank" O. Caputo, 92, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Monday in Palm Harbor, Florida. Born in Mola DiBari, Italy, he lived in Syracuse for 54 years and then moved to Florida in 1984. He was an executive chef and was the former owner and op-erator of the Corner Diner in East Syracuse. Predeceased by his son, Anthony. Survivors: His wife of 65 years, Mary S. D'Andrea Caputo; son, Joseph (Margaret) Caputo of Syracuse; daughter, Filomena (Gary) Rudiger of Syracuse; brother, Michael Caputo of Brazil; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Born in Fulton, she was the daughter of Walter and Eva Currier. Veronica lived in Camillus for 56 years. She attended St. Lucy's School and was a housemother for St.Joseph's School of Nursing for 15 years, retiring in 1982. She was previously employed by Marble Farms. A former member of the Third Order of St. Francis, she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and communicant of Holy Family Church and member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Her husband, William R. Claeys, died in 1975. Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Smith and Linda Rollinson, both of Syracuse; sons, Roger Claeys of Camillus and Thomas Claeys of Liverpool; sister, Rita Walters of Pinellas Park, FL; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. September 12, 2004 Joseph D. DiBenedetto, 70, of Cape Canaveral, FL, died Sunday in Melbourne, FL. He was a native and resident of Queens before moving to Florida in 1997. Mr. DiBenedetto served with the US Army from 1957 to 1963. He was an antique car en-thusiast and retired from the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. Surviving are his son, Donald S. (Shelly) DiBenedetto of Clay; three grandchildren, Lynette DiBenedetto, Steven DiBenedetto, and Jamie Palmer; and his former wife and longtime friend, Marilyn DiBenedetto of Merritt Island, FL. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy and SUNY @ Morrisville. He retired in 1999 as a plumber with Armani Plumb-ing and previously worked for Chrysler and Pass & Seymour. He was an active member of VT Nooners Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis C. Fisher in 1965; a brother, Lewis R. Fisher in 2001; and a brother-in-law, Clifford R. Laws, Sr. in 2004. He is survived by two daughters, Denise M. Fisher of Van Buren and Renee L. (Tim) Briggs of Otisco Lake; two sons, Fred M. (Bridgette) Fisher of Otisco and Matthew C. Jason was also a graduate of SUNY Alfred with a degree in automotive auto body technology. He wasemployed by Dorwin Springs Building Supplies and had previously held positions at several automotive repair facilities. He was a member of the Dream Machines Car Club and Camillus Sportsmen's Club and was a former member of the Camillus Ski Hill Association. Oot, 74, of Kirkville, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, with his family at his side. A native of Syracuse, he graduated from Minoa High School in 1948. He was an owner and founding member of Oot Brothers of Central New York, home builders. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Minoa. He was a member of American Legion Post 1102 and the VFW Post 9596. He was an avid pilot and enjoyed his John Deere Tractors. He served in the Army 187th Airborne Division as a paratrooper during the Korean War. He was predeceased by his sister, Esther Shoemaker and his brothers, Earl, Leo, Donald, and Ronald. Survivors: his wife of 52 years, the former Marion Collins; three sons, Gregory of Liverpool, Mark of East Syracuse, and Eric of Kirkville; two daughters, Linda Becker of Kirkville and Kathleen Oot of Utica; three sisters, Lillian Heffron of Minoa, Marjorie Flett of Kirkville, and Mary Holl of DeRuyter; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She graduated from Deaconess Hospital in Buffalo in 1949 and was employed as a registered nurse with the Visiting Nursing Association of Buffalo until 1991. She was a former deacon at the Kenmoore Presbyterian Church and did volunteer work at St. Andrews Nursing Home, Buffalo. Doris was a member of the Liverpool First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are husband, James H. Weigand of 55 years; daughter, Robin Sue Capozzi of North Carolina; sons, Nathanael J. of Chittenango and David G. of Cazenovia; sister, Charlotte M. Wolf, 48, of Quincy. Professor at Eastern Nazarene College, died on August 26, 2004. Steve worked for the Syracuse City Schools on the campus of Elmcrest Children's Center for 11 years. He is survived by his wife, Colleen BelleWolf, a native of Syracuse; graduate of Corcoran High 1974; four children, Carson, Collin, Caitlin and Cameron. The couple celebrated their 25th anniversary in June.
