He retired as a self-employed General Mason Contractor, was twice Past Master of the Tully Masonic Lodge #896, and was awarded their Dedicated Service Award. Lifetime member of Tully Fire Department. Member of Tully Chamber of Commerce, Tully Investment Club, Sourpuss Club, Syracuse Tigris Shrine, Tully United Community Church. Francher, 83, formerly of Solvay, passed away Monday, September 13, in Vero Beach, FL, following a brief illness. John was a local musician who played with such bands as the Jimmy Dorsey Band. He worked in the automobile business for many years, and served as General Manager of Dan Curtain Dodge and Sam Dell Dodge. He also worked many years for Eagan Real Estate. John was a veteran of World War II, serving as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the VFW, past member of the Solvay-Geddes Veterans, and the Hilltop Club. John was predeceased by his first wife Calista "T.D." Francher in 1988. Survived by his wife Jean Miles Francher; three sons, John and David of Syracuse and Patrick of Philadelphia, PA; a brother William of Solvay; three stepsons, Tim and Martin Miles of Syracuse and Gary Miles of Gouverneur; a stepdaughter Lisa Miles of Syracuse; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was born in Syracuse February 20, 1931, to Ross and Ethelyn Abbott. Graduated from SU College of Fine Arts in 1952. Following graduation she was an artist for Norcross Greeting Cards in NYC and retired after 20 years with Vera Studios of Vera Industries as a designer and colorist. Meyer, Antonia "Antoinette" Meyer September 16, 2004 Antonia Catherine "Antoinette" Giacolon Meyer, 86, of Auburn, died Thursday, September 16, 2004. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Meyer. Mrs. Meyer was a life-resident of the Auburn area, she was a retired employee of Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center. She had also worked for Ginsberg's, and this was where she met her husband, Edward, sharing 58 years of marriage, until his death in 1996. Mrs. Meyer was active with Civil Defense, during WWII, receiving a commendation for her efforts. She enjoyed Italian Cooking, gardening and fishing. She is survived by her daughters, Marie Meyer of Raleigh, NC, Diane Lupo of Syracuse, and Elizabeth (James) Fuller of Albany; and her son, Edward W. Meyer of Fleming. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Anthony R., Rocco A., Christian B., Aaron E., and Dana M. Lupo, Jessica Lynn Meyer and Sara Mae Antonia Catherine Meyer Fuller; six great-grandchildren; her brothers, Joseph Giacolon of Auburn and Adam Giacolon of California; sisters-in-law and friends, Frances and Ester Giacolon, and dear friends, Mary Mackey and Morris Gordon. Besides her husband, Mrs. Meyer was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Ann Meyer, and her brothers, Frank, Andrew, and Mario Giacolon. A native of Syracuse, he graduated from Minoa High School in 1948. He was an owner and founding member of Oot Brothers of Central New York, home builders. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Minoa. He was a member of American Legion Post 1102 and the VFW Post 9596. He was an avid pilot and enjoyed his John Deere Tractors. He served in the Army 187th Airborne Division as a paratrooper during the Korean War. He was predeceased by his sister, Esther Shoemaker and his brothers, Earl, Leo, Donald, and Ronald. Survivors: his wife of 52 years, the former Marion Collins; three sons, Gregory of Liverpool, Mark of East Syracuse, and Eric of Kirkville; two daughters, Linda Becker of Kirkville and Kathleen Oot of Utica; three sisters, Lillian Heffron of Minoa, Marjorie Flett of Kirkville, and Mary Holl of DeRuyter; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Osborne, William W. September 16, 2004 William W. Osborne, 92, Skaneateles, New York, died September 16, 2004 at Finger Lakes Center for Living, Auburn, New York. He was born on October 18, 1911, in Mahtowa, Minnesota and graduated from the Boy River Academy and from the University of Kentucky. He retired as Assistant Vice President of Kennedy Sinclair, Inc., Montclair, New Jersey, specializing in estate planning, trusts, and development. He served as a naval lieutenant on the USS Boise in World War II, in New Guinea and the Phillipine Islands. He was Fighter Director Officer under Admiral Birkey and coordinated the bombardment of Corregidor when it was recaptured in 1945. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. He was a charter member of the Skaneateles Ambulance Service and helped to secure initial funding for it; as well as funding for the Village Veterans Memorial. He was a member of the American Legion and former member of the Skaneateles Country Club and Skaneateles Rotary Club. His hobbies included bridge, baking and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Gertrude Coughlin Osborne. He is survived by three children, Catherine Thurston, Savoy Illinois; William W. Osborne, Jr., Washington, D.C.; John Osborne, Santa Monica, California; six grandchildren, Rachel Goddard; Paul Thurston, Jr.; Michael Thurston; Daniel Thurston; Elena Osborne; Kara Osborne; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Goddard and Maren Goddard; a sister, Grace Erickson, Moorhead, Minnesota, and a brother, Earl Osborne, Hudson, Wisconsin. Smith, age 68, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday in North Carolina. He was born in Lumberton, NC, and served with the U.S. Air Force. Robert was a pressman with Syracuse China for 30 years. His wife Rose (Tillie) Lotito Smith died in 1994. He is survived by a daughter, Darleen (Joseph) DiBello of N. Syracuse; two sisters, Alice Meares and Sandra Hursey, both of Lumberton, NC; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
