Born in Vitorito, Italy, Mr. DiGiambattista grew up in Little Falls and resided in Syracuse for the past 50 years. He was a WW II naval veteran and served with the Sea Bees. Nick retired in 1991 after 11 years as an electrician for New Process Gear and 10 years at General Electric. He was an Amateur Radio Operator with the call letters of WB2WAN. He also was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church and a life member of the VFW Pennock Post in Solvay. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Marie Paci; a daughter Barbara Conboy of Mattydale; a son Dominick "Dick" of Tully; two sisters, Argie Viskup of Little Falls, Angela Richards of VanHornesville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Lape Jr., 74, of Syracuse, died Sunday, September 19, 2004, after a prolonged illness. Mr. Lape worked at WSYR (Radio and TV) for many years before retiring. As "Salty Sam" he was well known for his children's shows and charity work. He was also known as radio and TV personality "Bill Everett", "Epal" from Monster Movie Matinee, and from his role in the cable show "Snuckleby and Friends". In later years he performed as a storyteller at schools, libraries, and local events and did voice characterizations for author Bruce Coville's audio books. Mr. Lape was a graduate of Syracuse University with a BS in Speech and Dramatic Arts and an MS in Broadcasting. Mr. Lape served with the USAF during the Korean war. Surviving: his wife of 48 years, Rosemary Longmire Lape of Syracuse; a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Donald Pitts of Fabius; a son and daughter-in-law, Willard III and Celine Lape of PA; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Charles Carson of FL; and three grandchildren, Megan and Davis Pitts of Fabius, and Rosemary Lape of PA. Martin, Joseph Ernest September 19, 2004 Joseph Ernest Martin, 80, of Tinton Falls, NJ, died on September 19, 2004 after a six-year struggle with Lewy Bodys Disease. Born in Solvay, NY, he was a direct descendant of Peter Brown, a 1690 Mayflower passenger. While attending Syracuse University College of Forestry, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After graduation from Syracuse University in 1948 he became a Federal Electrical Engineer at Fort Monmouth, NJ retiring in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Gini" Martin; his sons, Bradley and Neil; two daughters, Nancy Martin MacPhee and Janice Martin Schlegel; stepchildren, John Levchuk, Marcia Wines, and Paul Levchuk; two brothers, Charles and Richard Martin; two sisters, Marion Wierowski; and Norma Moore; and 16 grandchildren.
