Alie was a brave and tough young lady. She is survived by her parents, Marty and Lisa Trytek Barber; three brothers, An-thony, Joseph and Samuel; her maternal grandparents, Dan and Kris Trytek; paternal grandparents, Jeanne and Al Szilagyi and Grandpa Derwood Barber; plus several aunts, uncles and cousins. September 23, 2004 Helen M. Chetney, 68 and a resident of 152 W. Seventh St. died Thursday evening at her home. She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late Thomas M. and Helen E. O'Grady Hennessey. She was the wife of Robert H. Chetney. Mrs.Chetney was The President and co-founder of Chetney Real Estate. Mrs. Chetney was educated in Oswego Schools and attended RIT. She was a Communicant of St. Mary's Church and was a past member of its Parish Council. She was a former Oswego County Legislator and was appointed to the SUNY Oswego College Council by Gov. George Pataki. Mrs. Chetney was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Ladies Auxiliary and was a Past President. She was also a member of the Columbiettes and the Oswego Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member and Past President of the Oswego County Board of Realtors and was Realtor of the Year in 1985. Mrs. Chetney was a former President of the Bishop Cunningham High School Booster Club and Board Member of Catholic Charities. She was a former member of the Oswego City and County Republican Committees. She had previously owned Party Favors and was the Office Manager at WOSC Radio. In Addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth (Bill) Blum; two sons, Bob (Jackie) Chetney and Brian (Julie) Chetney all of Oswego; two brothers, Thomas F. Hennessey of Syracuse and Robert A. Hennessey of Whispering Pines, NC; five grandchildren, Erin Chetney, Sean Blum, Claudia Chetney, Jake Chetney and Alex Chetney. Clifford, 74, of Naples, FL, (formerly of New Hartford), passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2004, in Old Forge. Jack was born on June 7, 1930, in Syracuse, NY, the son of Eugene and Delia Burns Clifford. He was a grad-uate of Fayetteville Manlius High School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On September 22, 1956, he married his beloved wife, Eileen M. Ryan, who passed away on May 19, 1996. Jack began his career in the oil industry as a sales representative for Richfield Oil Company. He founded Clifford Fuel Company in 1961 in Dolgeville and expanded into Utica in 1966. He served as chairman of the board and built the business into one of the area's largest companies. Jack was a member of the Empire State Petroleum Association, a former president of the Oil Fuel Industry of Central NY, a member of the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers Association, a volunteer for the Greater Utica United Way and Honorary Chairperson for Hospice Care's 1996 "Light Up A Life" campaign. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, St. Bartholomew's Church, Old Forge and St. William's Church in Naples, FL. Surviving are his children, James Clifford and his wife Meg of New Hartford, Kathleen Turner and her husband John of Duxbury, MA, Maureen Clifford of Cicero, NY, and John Clifford of New York City. He also leaves two sisters, Mary C. Dorrance of Florida, Marjorie Clifford of Syracuse; a special friend, Sue Infantine of New Hampshire and Naples, FL. Also surviving are six cherished grandchildren, James, Michael and Thomas Clifford and Sarah, Ryan and Jack Turner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jack was a wonderful friend to so many people and was blessed with extraordinary friends in Naples, New Hartford and Old Forge who will miss him. Haynes, Arthur Prescott September 9, 2004 Arthur Prescott Haynes, 61, of 6543 Donlen Drive, Ellicottville, NY, died September 9, 2004. Mr. Haynes taught English for 32 years in Pulaski, also serving as department chairman for 13 years, retiring in 1999. After serving 27 years in the Army Reserves, he retired as a lieutenant colonel, following active tours of duty in Korea (1966-67) and Desert Storm. Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Patricia (Pasko) Haynes; his mother Phyllis Haynes; aunt Jean Prescott; a brother, Kenneth (Valerie) Haynes; nieces, Wendy LaFever and Robyn Frey; mother-in-law, Maryellen Pasko; sister-in-law Connie (Tom) Williams; and nieces, Renee Nix and Alecia Williams. Kocan, Nick September 23, 2004 Nick Kocan, 84, of Syracuse, died Thursday at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. He was born in Ukraine and has lived in the Syracuse area for over 52 years. He retired from Carrier Corporation in 1982 where he worked as a machinist for 32 years. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, member of the church choir, member of the SURMA Men's Choir, member of the Ukrainian National Home, Ukrainian Senior Citizens Club, served on the Board of Directors for the Self-Reliance Federal Credit Union and a member of Sheet Metal Workers International Local 527. Survivors: his son and daughter-in-law, Myron and Dorie Kocan of Liverpool; a daughter Sonja Kocan of East Syracuse; a stepson Fred Altrogge of Liverpool; six grandchildren, Janelle, Jeffrey, Jamey, Joel, Justin and Jacy Kocan; his longtime companion Nadia Schell; several cousins. Christine was a 1971 graduate of Liverpool High School and resided there until she moved to Ohio in 1992. She was employed with Nationwide Insurance since 1981 and made many friends there over the years. She was an avid sports fan, in particular of the Boston Red Sox, Syracuse Orangeman and Nascar Racing. Christine was a devoted daughter, mother, sister and friend and often put others needs in front of her own. Her father Eugene R. Kodya precedes Christine in death. Survived by her children, Jennifer L. Capeling of Liverpool, David L. Capeling Jr. of Columbus, Ohio; mother, Ann Woodward of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother, Michael Kodya of Liverpool; sister, Lisa Scott of Port St. Lucie, FL; her "fur grandchildren" Jazmine, Sophie and Auggie; as well as extended family and friends. Raymond was a United StatesMarine Corp veteran and was part of the initial Marine landing force for the invasions of Guam, Iwo Jima, New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, New Hebrides Islands and prepared for the invasion of Kyushu Island. Raymond was on voyage to invade Japan when the Atomic Bomb was dropped. Predeceased by sisters, Jane Maser and Bertha Pilch and brother, Ted Pilch. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Frances Dukat Pilch, they were married July 8, 1950; children, Regina (Marion) Pilch Morris of St. Louis, MO, David R. She was born in Syracuse and lived in the Camillus-Westvale area most of her life. Connie was employed by the Onondaga County Veter-ans Office for 15 years. She was a member of the Camillus Senior Citizens and First Presbyterian Church United of Syracuse. Her husband, Charles W. Schadt, died in 1988. Surviving are her brother, Philip Dardaris of Camillus; 10 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W.
