Born in Syracuse, Mrs. Alling was a life resident of the Chittenango area. Mrs. Alling was a homemaker and a past member of the Bridgeport Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are a son, John Alling of Chittenango; a daughter, Pat Croffut of Syracuse; three brothers: Gregory Furco of Central Square, and Samuel Furco and Carmen Furco, both of Mattydale; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Lewis in 1974 and her son Lewis in 1993. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, Chittenango. Mary, born May 20, 1917, was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area. She had worked at Brown Lipe Chapin, John Deere and for the federal government in im-migration, Social Security and, for many years, in Air Force defense contracting. Mary was an active member of the Weedsport Senior Citizens. Mary was predeceased in 2000 by her beloved husband Joseph Boyer. She is survived by her brother, John Mishko and his wife, Bernice; her sister, Nadya Pope; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, -nephews, godchildren and friends who will greatly miss her kind and loving companionship. Credno, Betty (Canarile) September 25, 2004 Betty Credno, a lifetime Syracuse resident died Saturday. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church and was the widow of Joseph J. Credno, who died in 1989. She is survived by her son, Michael (Ruth) Credno of Baldwinsville; a daughter, Denise C. (Jamal) Sakran of Liverpool; one sister, Mary Zoccolillo; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. September 25, 2004 Surrounded by the love of his family, James E. DeWitt, 66, was welcomed to Heaven. Born in Newark, NJ, Jim grew up in Irvington and lived his adult life in Shelbyville, IN; and North Syracuse and Liverpool, NY. Instilled with faith and a strong sense ofvalues, he gained much respect in his profession and by all who knew him. He graduated from Syracuse University and spent a rewarding career in engineering and management at General Electric, Wellman Thermal Systems and Lockheed Martin. He was an active member of St. Rose of Lima, North Syracuse; St. Joseph's, Shelbyville, IN; and St. John's, Liverpool. He was a CCD teacher for over 20 years, confirmation coordinator, communion minister, parish council chairman, church Hope Appeal chairman, school board president and Nocturnal Adoration Society member. He was active in Knights of Columbus as youth activity director, religious activity director, First Degree Team Member and was Outstanding Catholic Layman of the Year in Shelbyville. He was also active in Youth Activities such as Pop Warner Football official, Little League manager, Girl Scout leader and Optimist Oratorical chairman. He was Shelby County United Way "Scuffy" chairman in Indiana. Survivors: his loving wife of 44 years, the former Dorothy Ray Koch; three daughters: Christine Marie Bowers, Mary Ann DeMar and Donna Rae Bradley, and their spouses and seven grandchildren, all of Liverpool; one brother, Richard Charles DeWitt of Fairfield, CT. He was predeceased by three sisters: Evelyn Rhodes, Virginia Manko and Shirley Johnson, all of NJ. September 25, 2004 Lura M. Hartman, 54, of Manlius, NY, died Saturday, September 25, at home after a long battle with cancer. Her bright smile, courageous spirit, sharp sense of humor and quick, sometimes biting, wit will be missed by all of us who knewher. Born in Syracuse, NY, raised in Camillus, the daughter of Floyd and Zeda Lewis Schloop, Lura graduated from West Genesee High School in 1968 as a proud member of the nationally renowned "Wildcat Marching Band." Lura graduated in 1971 from Crouse School of Nursing as an R.N. then worked at Crouse Hospital and later Rosewood Heights (Plaza) Nursing Home. For the past 17 years, she enjoyed her job as a school bus driver for the Fayetteville Manlius School District, from which she retired this year. Lura enjoyed cooking, tending her flowers and plants, crossword puzzles, long walks, golf and travel. She is survived by her husband Peter of Manlius; three sons: Mike (Therese) Hickok, of Niagara Falls, NY; Douglas Hickok of Rochester, NY; and Mathew Hickok of Florida; a sister, Louise (Dick) Allen of Westvale; a brother, Walter (Melissa) Schloop of Camillus; and many nieces and nephews who loved their "Aunt Lollie." Miner, 79, of Cape Coral, FL, and formerly of Cato, died September 22. She was born February 4, 1925, in Watertown. She operated Ethyle's Floral Shop and Greenhouse in Cato for 22 years, moving to Florida in 1992. Molenda, Margaret Ruth Grove Grove Molenda September 25, 2004 Margaret Ruth Grove Molenda died Saturday, September 25, 2004. Margaret was born on October 3, 1930, to the late Dr. William E. Grove and Lucy Amelia Mellinger Grove of Johnstown, PA. Those closest to her will miss her greatly for her caring and thoughtful ways, her keen sense of humor, her persevering spirit and lifetime of volunteer efforts, which included work for the Girl Scouts, Friends on Wheels, Syracuse Public Libraries, Literacy Volunteers and her cherished Pebble Hill Presbyterian Church. A life resident of Syracuse, Mrs. Schlisserman was a schoolteacher with the Syracuse school district, having retired in 1986. Marjorie was a member of Temple Beth El. She played piano with local klezmer groups and as a soloist. A graduate of Pratt Institute, Marjorie then received her master's from Syracuse University. She was predeceased by her husband Isidore in 1985 and her father, Morris Levine, in 1986. Survived by her son, Dr. Albert (Helen); her daughters, Ida (Gerry) Hartman and Dr. Selma (Ben) Friedman; her brother, Arthur Lane; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
