September 27, 2004 Edwin O. Beers, 88, of Collamer, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Long Lake, NY, he has resided in the Syracuse area most of his life. He was a self-employed carpenter, retiring in 1977. He was a former member of the Swiss Social Club. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Belcore, Eric Daniel September 27, 2004 Eric Daniel Belcore, 29, of Mattydale, passed away Monday. Eric was a graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School. He attended OCC and was recently accepted into Columbia University. Eric served as an Airborne Ranger, the 3rd Bat-talion, 75th Ranger Regiment of the U.S. Army. The U.S. Army Rangers are among the elite, if not the most elite, combat soldiers in the world. It is the Fraternity of a highly select group within the profession of arms that few will attempt to join and which even fewer will be initiated. To be a Ranger is a mark of excellence indicating a degree of success that few will achieve. He was deployed in Afghanistan in support of "Operation Enduring Freedom". Eric was awarded the Army Achievement Medal (6th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Army Service Ribbon, and the Parachutist Badge. Eric is survived by his mother, Antoinette; father, Domenick Belcore; his brothers, Arthur and Domenick Belcore; his grandparents, Peter and Anne Carocci, and Arturo and Rosa Belcore; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; also Carmella and Steven Osborne, along with many other extended family members. Cassell, Jane Gleason September 27, 2004 Jane Gleason Cassell, 92, of Sherrill, passed away September 27, 2004, in the Extended Care Facility of the Oneida Healthcare Center where she had been a resident for the past two years. Jane was born on February 9, 1912, in Syracuse, the daughter of John and Mary Ellen Gorham Gleason. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School and worked in Syracuse for several years. She married Carleton Cassell on August 31, 1933, in Lake George. Carleton and Jane both retired from Oneida Limited and enjoyed spending their winters in Florida until Carleton's death in 1985. Jane was a communicant of St. Helena's Church for over 57 years and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Helena's Altar and Rosary Society, and for many years a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Oneida Healthcare Center. Jane loved to travel, and was a member of the Oneida Community Golf Club and the YMCA. Jane was a true friend to all who knew her and had many happy years at Valenti Estates and Noyes Manor. Jane loved being with her family and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Peter Sarubbi of Florida, Jacqualyn and Peter Bortle of Sherrill; one son, Carleton "Butch" Cassell and Joan Szlachta of Vernon; 11 grandchildren, Susan Taufmann and Joseph Bortle of Denver, Colorado, Linda Crespo of Puerto Rico, William, Timothy and Peter Sarubbi of Rochester, Stacy Hilliker of Canastota, Kelly Borth and Brian Cassell of North Carolina, Holly and Matt Cassell of Geneseo; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Amsterdam, NY, on April 17, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Otto A. and Laura Naylon Glamm. Louise received her education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School, Class of 1950. She also graduated from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Louise was employed as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY, and then went on to work at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Syracuse, NY, until 1978. Louise was a former parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam, NY, and at the time of her passing, a member of St. Leo's Church and the Altar Society in Tully, NY. Louise is survived by two brothers, Richard G. Glamm of Perth, NY, and Paul A. Glamm of Austin, TX; two sisters, Kathleen A. Glamm of Amsterdam, NY, and Laura A. In 1976, he was named manager of land development and became vice president of the company, a position he held until his retirement in 1993. Malone, age 91, a North Side Business Icon, lost his long courageous and inspirational battle with heart disease with his loving family at his side on Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He owned and operated Malone Jewelers for over 50years with his beloved wife, Fay who predeceased him in 1995 where daily sales of generosity, kindness and jewelry took place. Carmen was a former member of the North Side Business Association. He was an avid golfer, a member of the Green Lakes Golf Club, Tanner Valley Golf Club and Orchard Valley Golf Club.
