April 1, 2005 Frederick L. Alexander, 84, of Fulton, died April 1, 2005. He
was a machinist. He was predeceased by one daughter, Dorothy Bell. Survivors
his wife, the former Beulah Guyett; four grandchildren: Robert Bucy, Ronald
Bucy, Jack Bucy and Catherine Adato; four great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Selma Huff of California and Jacqueline Haynes of Mexico. Services 2 p.m.

Ashley, David   
March 31, 2005 David Ashley, 73, of Chittenango, died Thursday at the V.A.
Medical Center. Mr. Ashley was the owner of Lakeport Canvas Products for 20
years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. His greatest pleasure was
to volunteer his time at Stonehedge Nursing Home in Chittenango. Surviving are
his wife of 51 years, Doris P. Ashley; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen
and Larry Roach of Chittenango and Kathleen Hageman of Iowa; a son, Donald
Knapp of Oneida; three sisters: Doris Murray, Colleen Quinn and Sandy Stone;
four brothers: Robert, Terry, Roger and Paul Ashley; 12 grandchildren; and 12
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Knapp, in 1999.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel at the Onondaga

March 31, 2005 Marion R. Bartlett, 73, of Fulton, passed away March 31, 2005.
She was born in Cato. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Salvation
Army Store for 11 years. She enjoyed bowling. Marion was predeceased by son
Rossie Bartlett in1988; sister Mina Lormand in 2002; brother Raymond "Bucky"
Thompson in 2004. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Leon "Ross"
Bartlett of Fulton; daughters, Roberta (Charles) Spencer of Fulton, Deborah
(Jerry) Grant of Hannibal, Terry (Chris) Deloff of Mexico, Candy (Tim) Vail of

April 1, 2005 Linda M. Ottoway Blair, 59, of West Monroe, passed away Friday
at St Joseph's Hospital. Linda was employed with Schneider Packaging in
Brewerton. She was a foster mother for many years and a member of American
Legion AuxiliaryPost 915 in Central Square. She was predeceased by her father,
Lyle Ottoway, in 1990 and brother, Lyle Jr., in 1966. Survivors: mother,

April 2, 2005 Wilma E. Madden Blann, 91, died Saturday at the home of her son
in Cicero. She was a native and life resident of Baldwinsville. Wilma was a
member of the N. Syracuse Baptist Church and a former member of the First
Baptist Church in Baldwins-ville. She was an active member of the Canton Woods
Senior Center. Wilma was predeceased by her husband Harold J. in 1975 and a
grandson, Scott S. Blann, in 1982. Survivors: a daughter, Phyllis M. Blann of
Baldwinsville; a son, Rev. Stephen H. (Sherry) Blann of Cicero; a sister,

Brzezinski, Rosemary G.
March 31, 2005 Rosemary Gilmour Brzezinski, 86, of Niceville, FL, passed away
on Thursday. Rosemary was born July 4, 1918, in Syracuse, NY. Rosemary
relocated to Niceville in August 2000 to be closer to her daughter and family.
Rosemary was a communicant of St. Michael's Church, Onondaga Hill, and a
member of the Altar & Rosary Society as well as the Legion of Mary. Rosemary
was employed 18 years at The Hotel Syracuse. Rosemary was predeceased by her
husband Stanley in 1989. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary (Richard)
Nickerson of Niceville, FL; son, Robert (Kathleen) Brzezinski of Tonawanda,

Carr, Jean M.   
April 2, 2005 Jean M. Carr, 82, of the Valley, died Saturday at Community
General Hospital. Born in Plattsburgh, she retired from Syracuse City Schools
in 1985 following 20 years of service as a bus aide for the mentally and
physically challenged. She en-joyed bingo, crafting, traveling and summers at
Lake Champlain and winters at Anna Maria Island, FL. She was a communicant of
Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lynn
Carr, in 1993 and her husband, George R. Carr, March 13, 2005. Jean is
survived by three daughters: Corrie Lopipero of Camillus, Barbara Carr of
Liverpool and Kimberly (Eric) Broeker of Cicero; two sons, William G.
(Patricia) Carr and James S. Carr, both of Plattsburgh; a sister, Pat Irwin of
Potsdam; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and

April 2, 2005 Nicholas J. "Slice" DeCerce, 90, of Baldwinsville, passed away
Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he lived on the west end
for several years before moving to Baldwinsville. Nick was a brakeman at NY
Central Railroad for 32years before retiring in 1975. He was a communicant of
St. Augustine's Church. Nick was predeceased by his son Joseph in 1981.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, the former Mary Noce; a daughter and
son-in-law, Ann Marie and Danny Moss of Fayetteville; a son and
daughter-in-law, Raymond P. and Susan DeCerce of Miami, FL; a daughter-in-law,

was the daughter of Robert and Cora Cooter. She was predeceased by her loving

beloved sister Kathryn,whom she loved so dearly; also, brothers-in-law Glenn

Goodfellow Garman April 1, 2005 Jennifer H. Goodfellow Garman, formerly of
Syracuse, died Friday at her home in Watertown, MA. She was the wife of Shane
Garman and daughter of Robert and Eleanor (Szcudlik) Goodfellow of New York.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Blumer of Memphis, NY; her brother,

Houck February 23, 2005 Charlotte Mapstone Houck, 78, of Point Harbor,
Southmont Community, NC, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005. Before retirement
she was a postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of the
Order of the Eastern Star and also a member of the Retired Postmaster
Association. Her husband, Dana, died on January 30, 1993. Surviving are her
son, John Henry Houck; daughters, Nancy Colton, WV, Joanne E. Bean and Judy
Houck-Eli; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be

"Hutch" Hutchinson March 30, 2005 David M. "Hutch" Hutchinson, 69, of
Cazenovia, died Wednesday following a long illness. Born in Syracuse, he was a
life resident of Cazenovia. Mr. Hutchinson was a self-employed contractor. He
was a veteran of the United States Army. He was alife member and past chief of
the Cazenovia Volunteer Fire Department. He was predeceased by his brother
Lynn. Surviving are his wife Carol; his son Timothy (Lori) of Richardson, TX;
his daughters, Julie A. Mabie of Fayetteville and Amy L. Cadiz (Garth) of
DeWitt; his sisters, Leanne Young of Bethesda, MD, and Sally Damon of
Tallahassee, FL; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces,

April 1, 2005 Joseph P. Koegel, 104, of Cazenovia, died Friday at Iroquois
Nursing Home. Born in Liverpool, he had lived in Cazenovia for the past 20
years. Mr. Koegel was a retired machinist with Nestle. He belonged to the
Baldwinsville Moose Club. He loved to play pool and bowl and was a former
amateur boxer. Mr. Koegel was a communicant of St. James Church in Cazenovia.
He was predeceased by his wife Pearl, who died in 1974. Surviving are his
daughters, Elma Norris of Cazenovia and Carol VanHorn of Baldwinsville; 12

Medico, Grace Zaccaria   
April 1, 2005 Grace Zaccaria Medico, 99, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully
on Friday with her family by her side at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born
in Monopoli, Bari, Italy on November 28, 1905, and came to Syracuse in 1956.
For the last 26years she has lived in Manlius with her daughter. Mrs. Medico
was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. She was a loving mother and enjoyed
spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband
Cosmo died in 1977, and her grandson Cosmo Medico died in 2000. Survivors: her
son, Leonard (Madia) Medico of Mattydale; daughters, Gina (Mino) Petrosillo of
Luxembourg, Anna (Leonard) Selicato of Syracuse and Frances (Angelo)

Nigro, Ethel   
March 29, 2005 Ethel Nigro, 90, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday in
Wilmington, NC. She was born in Syracuse, December 13, 1914, a daughter of
Carl and Lillian Carpenter. During WWII she was employed by Owen Dyneto; she
also worked for Cramer Refractories, Judge Donald Whitney in Liverpool, and
retired from the Duke Electric Co., where she worked for 28 years. Ethel was
past president of the Saradaga Chapter of the American Business Women's
Association, past Matron of Liverpool Chapter 219 OES, past Grand Officer of
the Grand Chapter of the New York State OES, past Queen of Ilderim Temple #15
Daughters of the Nile, and past Supreme Officer of the Supreme Temple
Daughters of the Nile. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Nigro on
April 9, 1992. Surviving are two sons, Alfred Nigro Jr., of Wilmington, NC;
and Carl F. Nigro of Lufkin, TX; five grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 6,

April 1, 2005 Florence A. Notarpole, 102, of Skaneateles, was born in Buffalo
to Edward and Henrietta Gordon and passed away at Auburn Nursing Home on April
1, 2005. She was highly active in politics for many years in Yonkers, NY, and
served as president of the Rosary Society at St. John the Baptist Church. Mrs.
Notarpole is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, the Reverend Joseph
Notarpole of Jacksonville, FL; Alan and Lynn Notarpole of Skaneateles; and
George and Ko Notarpole of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren; 11
great-granchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. One of 12 children,
Florence is further survived by two brothers and a sister. She was predeceased
by her husband George and son Robert. Calling hours are Wednesday from 7 to 9
p.m. at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, 49 Jordan St., Skaneateles. A memorial
funeral service celebrating her life will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in St.

formerly of Liverpool, died peacefully Thursday surrounded by her family. For
many years she was a waitress at the Trivet House in Liverpool. She was a
communicant of Immaculate Heart of MaryChurch. Madeline is predeceased by Sam
Occhipinti, who died in 1999. She is survived by her son, Frank Giannuzzi
(Donna) of Cape Coral, FL; a daughter, Corrine Galuppi (Phil) of Liverpool;
four grandchildren, Cindy Bruno, Sandy Secreti, Sherry McNeil and Phil
Galuppi; eight great-grandchildren, Janel, Michael and Vincent Bruno, Jessica

Payne, Bruce Phillip
March 31, 2005 Bruce Phillip Payne, 57, loving husband, father, grandfather
and friend, passed away suddenly on Thursday at his home, after complications
of lung surgery. Bruce was born on June 29, 1947, in Lowville, NY. He attended
grade school in Cran-berry Lake and graduated from Cobleskill Central High
School. After four years in the Navy, he graduated from Alfred State College
with a degree in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. He was married
to Natalie Cecile Gallo of Boonville, NY, on April 21, 1978. The couple has
two grown children, Harley Arthur Payne and Rachael Anne Dann (Thomas J.
Dann). They recently became grandparents to their first grandchild, Jackson
Phillip Dann. Bruce was a machinist and mechanic and had been last employed
with Liftech Handling in Syracuse for the past 11 years. He previously worked
at several other local equipment companies. Bruce was an avid hunter and
enjoyed his Corvette and Harley-Davidson Motorcycle. He also enjoyed boating
and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed his family and friends. Bruce will be
sorrowfully missed by all who knew and loved him. Bruce is predeceased by his
father and mother, Phillip and Janice Payne, previously of Boonville; and a
brother, Richard Payne. Bruce is survived by his wife of 26 years, Natalie;
his son Harley; his daughter, Rachael (Thomas) Dann; his grandson, Jackson;
his brothers, Michael Payne (Kathleen) of South Carolina and John Payne of
West Monroe; and his sister, Sherrill Lang of Parish; several nieces, nephews,
aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many dear friends. Calling hours will be

April 1, 2005 Danny Thomas Sponable, 45, of Phoenix, NY, died April 1, 2005,
9:11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, Syracuse. He was a life
resident of Phoenix who graduated from J.C. Birdlebough High School, Class of
1977. Danny was a servicewriter for Sharon Chevrolet, Inc., Phoenix, for
several years. Danny joined the Enterprise Fire Company #1, in 1977. He
received the inaugural 1981 Enterprise Fire Company #1, Phoenix "Fireman of
the Year." He served as past chief, as well as current deputy chief. He was a
member of NYS Firemen's Assoc., NYS Fire Chiefs' Assoc., Northern Central
Firemen's Assoc., Oswego County Firemen's Assoc., past president and life
member Oswego County Fire Chiefs' Assoc., newly elected president of the
northern section Onondaga County Volunteer Firemen's Assoc. He was predeceased
by his father, Willard C. "Spike" Sponable, in 1973. Surviving are his sons,
Christopher T. Warner and Clark D. Sponable, both of Phoenix; his daughter,
Carly J.A. Sponable of N. Syracuse; his mother, Carole Group Sponable of
Phoenix; his brother, Robert Todd (Betsy) Sponable of Fulton; his nephew,

"Bob" Van Nostrand Sr. March 30, 2005 Robert E. Van Nostrand Sr., 70, of
Meadow River Dr., Liverpool, died Wednesday at the V.A. Medical Center. Born
in Seneca Falls, he was the son of the late Harold and Ethel Van Nostrand. He
grew up in Elmira before moving to Liverpool in 1963.He attended Alfred State
College and was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 101st
Armored Infantry. Bob worked as a field engineer for 17 years at Glendale Labs
of IBM in Endicott and retired after five more years as a computer tech at
O.C.C. He was a member of the Sport Car Club of America. Surviving are his
wife of 52 years, Shirley; a daughter, Mary Rose (Ken) Birch of Sacramento,
CA; four sons: Robert E. Jr. (Judy) of Liverpool; Fred C. of Pleasant Hill,
CA; Curtis V. of Covington, KY; and James E. of Martinez, CA; a sister,
Patricia (Ben) Cardamone of Elmira; a brother, Richard T. of Rochester; 19
