April 14, 2005 Barbara A. Auringer, 77, formerly of West Monroe, died Thursday at the Francis House in Syracuse. Born in Syracuse, she lived most of her life in Brewerton and West Monroe. Mrs. Auringer was owner/proprietor with her late husband Elmer of the Elmers Grocery in West Monroe. She was predeceased by her husband Elmer and a son David Mark. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Ditro and Kathleen Bisbo, both of West Monroe; four sons, Richard and Robert, both of West Monroe, Ronald of Atlanta, Ga., and Raymond of Liverpool; a sister Leta Schafer of Brewerton; a brother, Morris Sadler of West Amboy; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Benson, Josephine Sgroi Daino Benson April 13, 2005 Josephine Sgroi Daino Benson, 85, passed away Wednesday at Crouse Hospital. A native of Syracuse, she lived most of her life in North Syracuse. She enjoyed a vast retail merchandising career and was employed at Unger's Sing-er's, Lerners, Three Sisters and retired from Sears Roebuck & Co. in 1982. She was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Daino, who died in 1952, and her second husband, Carlton Benson, who died in 1986. Hagan, of Lakeland, died Friday at Community Hospital. Born in Syracuse, she lived here all of her life. Cecelia graduated from Solvay High School and Central Business School. She retired in 1981 after 38 years from the federal govern-ment as a document examiner in the legal division at the federal building. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Lakeland, and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. April 13, 2005 Lawrence E. Herse, age 53, Redfield, died at his home. He was born in Watertown on October 26, 1951, the son of Charles and Rita Prevost Herse. He lived most of his life in New Haven, moving to Redfield in 1989. He grad-uated from Mexico High School in 1969 and served in the U.S. Army from 1970 - 72 serving in Viet Nam for one year. He married Sandra Vail on October 26, 1981. He was employed by Omega Wire in Williamstown for the past 16 years. He was a member of the Wesleyan Christian Church in Redfield and had a love for music. Surviving are his wife Sandra M.; one daughter Alicia M. Gioia and her husband Elery of Oswego; one son Lawrence J. Herse of Redfield; his father and mother, C. Fred and Rita Herse; one brother, Fred and his wife Jean, all of New Haven; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Kessler, Alice Pearl Dann April 13, 2005 Alice Pearl Dann Kessler, 80, of Fulton, died Wednesday at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton. She was a retired waitress working at various local restaurants. Alice also volunteered in many local civil and church activities. She was a communicant of Holy Family - St. Michael's Parish. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Kessler Sr., who died March 5, 1997. Surviving: a son, Robert A. (Judy) Kessler Jr.; a daughter, Karen A. Kondratowicz, Mary Lee April 14, 2005 Mary Lee Kondratowicz, age 69, Sandy Pond, died Thursday at University Hospital, Syracuse. She was born on Sept. 5, 1935, in Mexico, the daughter of Lee and Hazel Allen Harris. She resided in Pulaski for 35 years, moving to Sandy Pond in 1997. She graduated from St. Anthony's Academy in Syracuse in 1953 and attended SUNY Oswego. She married Edwin Kondratowicz on Sept. 13, 1958. She was employed as a remedial math teacher at Pulaski School for 30 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Christ Our Light Parish and the Altar & Rosary Society. She was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout volunteer, and former NOCA volunteer. Surviving are her husband, Edwin E.; one son, Darrell E. and his wife Susan of Pulaski; two daughters, Kathleen and husband Eric Novicki of Mason, OH, Allison and husband Scott Hilliker of Owego; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was past member of Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Pompi - Order of the Moose. He was also a member of both the North Syracuse Seniors and the American Italian Heritage club. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Proietta Politi; son Sebastian (Sam) Politi of Palm Coast, FL; daughter, Mary Louise Daddabbo of SC; granddaughter, Alysa R. Trendowski, Ethel April 15, 2005 Ethel Wheeler Trendowski, 90, of Amber, died Friday at Community General Hospital. Ethel was a life resident of Amber. For more than 40 years, along with her husband, Ethel ran a fish bait and vegetable business from their home. She was a member of the Amber Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday School, was treasurer for 20 years, and helped as custodian. Her husband of 50 years, Stanley, died in 1995. Surviving are her sons, Teal L. (Pat) of Amber, Roger N. (Ginna) of Middletown, NJ; her sister, Edna Bailer of Amber; brother, Malcolm Wheeler of Amber; five grandchildren, Scott, Jennifer, Karen, Carissa, and Lindsay; two great-grandsons, Connor and Eric. Walrath, Lyland A. April 15, 2005 Lyland A. Walrath, 80, of Hidden Acres, Chittenango, died Friday at Van Duyn Nursing Home. Born in Ithaca, Mr. Walrath was a resident of the Chittenango area for many years. He retired after more than 30 years with NY Central Railroad. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII where he served as an airplane engine mechanic. He was a member of various antique car clubs. He was a devoted husband, father and family man. Mr. Walrath was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Jeanette, in 1997. Surviving are two sons, Arthur L. of Chittenango and Richard W. of Homer, Alaska; a brother, Carl of Florida; two sisters, Meroe Haman and Helen Smith, both of the Syracuse area; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
