He married his high school sweetheart, Norma Brooks,with whom he shared 48 years of marriage until she passed in 1987. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Nancy-Beth, who died in 1945. He was a member of the United Auto Workers, a 15-year member of the Moose Club and an avid New York Yankees fan. She was born in the spring of 1946 in Watertown, NY, the daughter of an Italian immigrant. JoAnne enjoyed life and was adored by not only her family but also by her friends, co-workers and all who met her. She was a talented artist and decorator and a loving grandmother to her two young grandsons, David Michael Rossi and Colin Garrick Auwarter. Sterling had been retired for several years and had many interests including gardening, hunting, carpentry and cabinetry work. Sterling was the oldest Boy Scout in Bradford, NY. Betty dedicated her life to the care of her beloved husband, children, grandchildren and friends. When recently asked about her philosophy of life, she responded by saying, "Love and be loved." She truly lived that philosophy. She loved helping others, including volunteering for Meals-on-Wheels, Syracuse Home and St. Mary's Church, where she was a communicant. Mary wants to thank her medical providers, especially Dr. Scalzo and his staff and the staff at Madison Irving Surgery Center, for the compassionate care they provided to her. Krisak, Marion Ruth (Green) April 15, 2005 Marion Ruth (Green) Krisak, 75, of Syracuse, passed on April 15, 2005, at Iroquois Nursing Home. Marion was born on June 24, 1929, in Scranton, PA, the daughter of Charles and Margaret Green. A Porter School graduate, sheworked as a secretary at Carrier Corporation. In March 1952, she married Michael J. Krisak and devoted her life to raising her children in a home they built. Michael Sr. predeceased her in April 1994. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and was active with its Women's Bowling League. She enjoyed traveling with her family to places like St. Croix, Florida, Georgia and Virginia. She was also predeceased by her brother, Dr. Charles H. Green of GA in November 2004. She is survived by two sons, Michael (Annette) Krisak of East Syracuse and Mark (Vicki) Krisak of Virginia; three daughters: Patricia Parsons of Denver and Karen Epolito and Susan (John) Geruso of Syracuse. Sessler Sr., 66, of Waterloo, caring, devoted father, grandfather, friend and community leader, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2005, in his home, with his family by his side. LaVerne was born on November 22, 1938, in Waterloo, the son of LaVerne Hadley and Mabel Frances Carr Sessler, and lived his entire life in Waterloo. Vern, along with his wife Barb, founded several businesses, including, L. M. Sessler Excavating & Wrecking Inc., Sessler Industrial Park, Sessler Metal Fabricating, Vern's Hot Dog House, Exit 42 Truck Stop, Best 18 Miniature Golf Course in Fort Myers, Florida, and the Waterloo Main Street Shop Centre. Vern was a partner and was instrumental in helping to bring the new Petro Shopping Center to Seneca County. Vern was very community minded and loved his hometown. Vern searched for and acquired a 1941 GM Woodie station wagon, which had originally been built in Waterloo and had a crew of original Mid-State Body Co. workers help restore the wagon. Vern also secured and restored the 1948 American LaFrance fire truck that he remembered riding in as a boy in the parades with the Waterloo Fire Department. When the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce was faced with the decision to build a new building and the distinct possibility of tearing down the symbolic windmill, Vern stepped forward to restore the windmill as the Barbara Park Sessler Visitor Information Center. Vern's love of local history will soon be evidenced by the upcoming release of "A History of Waterloo, New York 1948-2002." He also produced a Waterloo history coloring book for children in the community. It was always important to Vern to preserve the history of his community. Throughout the years, Vern has been involved with several organizations, serving as president of the Waterloo Lions Club, Waterloo Parent-Teachers Association, Seneca County Magistrates Association, Waterloo Little League, Waterloo Jaycees, chairman of the Seneca County Easter Seal Drive and Border City water district. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Waterloo. He was a member of the Seneca County United Way fund board, Waterloo Volunteer Fire Department, Seneca County Republican Club, Waterloo Sportsmen's Club, Seneca Falls Elks Club, U.S. Selective Service Review Board, Taylor Brown Geneva General Hospital Corporate Board member, CNY Kidney Foundation Board of Directors, National Association of Demolition Contractors and National Association of Woodies. Vern had been recognized with many awards: Outstanding Young Man of Waterloo, Outstanding District President by the NYS Jaycees, JCI Senatorship (highest award given to a Jaycee), selected as one of the five Outstanding Men of New York State by the NYS Jaycees, National Kidney Foundation Outstanding Board Member, Finger Lakes Social Ministry-Sharing the Light Humanitarian Award, Lions International Community Service and Life Membership Award, first recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award for the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Demolition Contractors Lifetime Achievement Award. Vern was very involved in politics, where he served as Waterloo Town Justice (1970-73), ran for NY State Senate (1972), served as Town of Waterloo Supervisor (1984-85), seated on Seneca County Board of Supervisors, and served as Chairman of the Seneca County Board of Supervisors (1981). Vern was an avid boater and business enthusiast. He was a wonderful father who supported his children and taught them the true values of family and community. Vern's grandchildren were his true enjoyment in life. Vern was always visibly present at all of their sporting and school functions. Vern was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Park Sessler; his mother, Mabel Frances Carr Sessler; his father, LaVerne Hadley Sessler; one sister, Mabel Henninger. Sussman, Leroy "Lee" April 15, 2005 Leroy "Lee" Sussman, 86, of Maple Lane, North Syracuse, died Friday at the V.A. Medical Center in Syracuse. A native of Newark, NJ, Mr. Sussman resided in North Syracuse for the past 50 years. Lee retired in 1990 after 30 years as the store manager of the Outdoor Store in Syracuse. He was an Army veteran of WWII and served in the Pacific Theater. He was predeceased by his daughter Janet Creaser in 1996.
