He was born December 14, 1972, in Syracuse, NY, a son of Frederick and Kathleen Waterman Allen, and was a lifelong resident of Camden. On November 27, 1993, he married Stephanie Billington in Camden. Matthew was currently working at New Venture Gear in Syracuse and previously worked at Rome Cable Corporation. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1993 until 1998 during the Gulf War. Matthew was a member of the U.A.W. #624 and its Veterans Committee. He enjoyed four-wheeling, riding motorcycles and auto mechanics. Bartlett, Sr., 91, of Norstar Apartments, Liverpool, died Monday, April 18, 2005 at the Crossings Nursing Centre, Minoa, NY. He joins his wife of 67 years, Lucille, who predeceased him in February. Born in Cortland, NY, Mr. Bartlett began his career as a tool-and-die maker at Wickwire's in Homer, NY and was subsequently employed by U.S. Hoffman's and Lipe-Rollway in Syracuse, from which he retired in 1979. His favorite pastime in retirement were the nature walks he shared with his wife at the Green Lakes and Erie Canal state parks and the Baltimore Woods Nature Center. Mr. Bartlett was predeceased by his two sisters, Marybelle Thurston of Cortland, NY and Agnes Kuhn of Bradenton, FL. John served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WWII. John graduated from LeMoyneCollege in Syracuse. He was vice-president of Bon-Air Equipment in Syracuse for many years prior to moving to Tucson in 1976. He was chairman of the Board of Heating Examiners in Syracuse. He was a member of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America. April 23, 2005 Robert Thomas Bornkessel passed away Saturday, April 23, 2005, in Syracuse. Robert was born September 2, 1932, in Hackensack, NJ, to Harry and Hazel Bornkessel. He was graduated from Kenyon College, Ohio, in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958, including one year in South Korea. He began his insurance career in 1958 and moved to Syracuse in 1961. He joined Marsh & McLennan in 1963, and was named assistant vice president in 1969, vice president in 1974, and senior vice president in 1987. He received the company's Sales Leadership Award in 1997. Bob was active in the Independent Insurance Agents of CNY, including terms as president and director; the association named him Insurance Person of the Year in 1990. Bob served as senior warden and vestry member of St. Paul's Cathedral, and was active as a lay reader and choir member in Syracuse's Episcopal churches for many years. Bob also served as a member of the MDA and a trustee of the Landmark Theatre. Bob is survived by his sons, Paul and Scott; a daughter-in-law; one granddaughter; and his sister, Betty. He re-tired in 1980 as a detective sergeant after 35 years of service with the Syracuse Police Department. During his career, Tom received many commendations, including The Hendricks Medal of Honor. He was a member of the Pastime Athletic Club and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, friends in Florida, Popes Grove, and watching the Yankees. Ryan, 73, of North Syracuse, died Saturday at his home. Born in Syracuse, Tom was a Korean War veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. He built a career in the banking industry, retiring from Citibank as the regional vice president in Syracuse, NY. Thomas was an avid golfer, spending most of his retirement in Myrtle Beach, SC, raising his son Adam Ryan and daughter Tracy Ryan. In 1970, during his time as vice president of Metropolitan Bank in Syracuse, Tom was an instructor for the American Institute of Banking, where he created a program to help future and fellow bankers learn the theories of bank management. Tom created a fictitious, independent bank called "Cicero Community Bank." Tom reasoned that the best way to apply the teachings of his class was to put them to practical use. The A.I.B. class became the board of directors, and served as the members of committees to carry out, in exercise form, the legal, financial, and operational activities required to start up a bank. He was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Susan. Surviving are five children, Patti A. Ryan, Thomas N. Ryan, Tracy E. Ryan, Michael P. (Lori A.) Spinella, 77, of Garden City Drive, Mattydale, passed away peacefully at home with his wife and children at his side. A native of Johnstown, PA, Mr. Spinella resided in Mattydale since 1956. He was the son of the late Salvatoreand Mary Spinella. Philip was a 1945 graduate of North High and attended Syracuse University. He was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII, and then served in the active reserves of the USMC and later for the Air Force until he was activated at the onset of the Korean War. He retired in 1996 from the Syracuse Stamping Co. after 43 years as a Tool Maker with various Companies in the Syracuse area including General Electric and the Carrier Corp. He often donated blood and was on call for urgent blood needs for the Red Cross. He was predeceased by Infant twins, Dorothy and Philip in 1957. Born in Brockville, Ontario, on November 12, 1929, Morley became a U.S. Citizen in 1981. He was owner of Bayberry Wine & Spirits and retired as manager of Mutual Candy Compa-ny in Auburn. Morley served as Councilman for the Town of Clay for 10 years, was a life member of Optimist International and was involved with many other civic and community organizations.
