D'Agostino, Nancy Lee July 30, 2005 Nancy Lee D'Agostino, 64, born December 6, 1940, in Minca, NY, passed away peacefully with family members at her side on July 30, 2005, in Tucson, AZ. Nancy started out her life as one of five children, married and raised five children of her own with her husband Joe. She was a devoted mother to her children and a beloved wife for 46 years. She will forever be in all our hearts. Nancy owned her own successful business and made some special friends along the way. Nancy is predeceased by her parents, Harold and Agnes Vedder, and a sister, Carol Chase. Leeta was a member and also served on the church board of the Parish Faith Church of the Nazarene, and also attended the Pulaski Wesleyan Church in her later years. He was a machine operator at New Process Gear, East Syracuse over 30 years before retiring in 2003. Honis, Barbara Dippold July 31, 2005 Barbara Dippold Honis, 73, of Clay, NY, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a courageous five year battle against pulmonary fibrosis. Barb passed away at her summer home on Lake Ontario surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was a 1948 graduate of North High School. Barb graduated from Hartwick College in 1953 where she received degrees in psychology and religion. After graduation, Barb traveled throughout the Scandinavian Countries of Europe with her Lutheran Youth Group. Upon her return, she was employed as a Youth Group Worker at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Philadelphia. Barb joined the United States Navy in 1955 as a Lieutenant. After receiving training in Newport, Rhode Island, she was stationed in California, Hawaii, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Japan. After leaving the military, she worked at the Onondaga County Welfare Office for three years. Barb began teaching in the North Syracuse Central School District in 1966 where she would teach for the next 29 years. During her tenure, Barb taught at Bessie B. Riordan Elementary School, Lakeshore Road Elementary School and Roxboro Road Middle School. She received her Master's Degree in Education from Syracuse University in 1976. Barb was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in North Syracuse and a longtime member of the Syracuse University Orange Pack. Barb was blessed with a large and loving family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Donald Honis; her mother, Clara Dippold of Mattydale; two sons, Grant (Janet) Honis of San Diego, CA; Kurt (Maria) Honis of Jamesville; three daughters, Susan (Gary) Hawkins of Marietta, GA; Heidi Honis of Atlanta, GA; Heather (Timothy) Meyer of Cicero; six grandchildren, Kevin and Trevor Hawkins, Rachel, Benjamin and Adam Honis, Henry Meyer; two aunts, Bertha Garafalo, Ruth Roeckelein; one uncle, Robert Roeckelein; six sisters, Joan Tourot, Jean Fuller, Suzanne Wademan, Diane Chase, Shirley Carroll, Dolores Guernsey; one brother, John Dippold; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her father, Henry Dippold and granddaughter, Rosalie Honis. Barb died of pulmonary fibrosis, a disease that attacks the tissue of the lungs. There is currently no cure. Dr. Barrett, a former student of Mrs. Honis, provided Barb with outstanding and compassionate care for which the family expresses its deepest gratitude. He was employed with the US Postal Service for 17 years retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Flamingo Seniors Bowling League. Sherman, Clesson July 31, 2005 Clesson Sherman, age 67, of Nedrow, passed away on Sunday, July 31 at Van Duyn Home and Hospital. He succumbed to Lou Gerrig's disease (ALS). Clesson was a graduate of SUNY Oswego, and briefly taught Industrial Arts in the Jordan-El-bridge School District. In his later years, he was a truck driver for Parish Maintenance Co. Clesson was an avid photographer, fisherman, and hunter. He was a member of the Lafayette Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Smith, 79, of Constantia, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at the VA Medical Center, Syracuse. Born 9/2/1925 in Freedom, NY at his grandparents home, he had resided in Constantia for the past 48 years. He retired in 1978 from Grollier Publishing Co., in New York City after 36 years. A veteran of WWII and the Korean War, Staff Sgt. Smith served as a Tail Gunner with the 15th Air Wing of the US Air Force. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Jennie Wylupek Smith in 1996. Surviving are three sons, Jon (Barbara) Smith of Central Square, Michael (Deborah) Smith and Daniel (Judy) Smith, both of Constantia; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Paul) Greeno, Patrick (Jennifer) Smith, Michael (Beverly) Smith, Clarissa (Sean) Devine, Sara and Danielle Smith; eight great-grandchildren, John Evan, Stephanie, Zachary, Kiersten, Rhiannon, Jordan, Aliviah and Kevin; his sister, Clara Smith of Carrollton, KY; his brother, Melvin Smith of Louisville, KY; his sister, Gwen Thacker of Elko, NV; his loving friend, Virginia Ramsey of Lockport, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Tayler, 105, formerly of Fayetteville, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at The Crossings in Minoa. Born in Cleveland, NY, she had lived in Syracuse for most of her life. She was a Self-employed Beautician in the University Section for several years and she was a member of the Fayetteville United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Stelmashuch of Parish; a son, Donald Heffernan of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Youngs, age 74, of Woodbine Ave., Syracuse, formerly of Pulaski died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. He was born on November 2, 1930 in Pulaski, the son of Jacob and Maude McGuijan Youngs. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1948 and married Reta Crowner on August 16, 1968. He had lived in Syracuse for the past 37 years. He was employed by Genuine Parts in Syracuse for 17 years retiring in 1996. He was also employed by Stanley Home Products as a truck driver in Syracuse, NY Central Rail Road, and operated a trucking company for several years. James was a former member of the Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski. Surviving are, his wife Reta; two sons, James W. of Camden, Ronald of Anchorage, AK; one daughter, Donna Fuller of Perkasie, PA; two sisters, Jane Warlock and Patsy Torto, both of Syracuse; seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with burial at Hillside Cemetery, Natural Bridge. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Donations may be made to Hospice of CNY, 7th North St., Liverpool or to a charity of one's choice.
