His sister Barbara Tostanoski died previously. Carl served four years in the Air Force, and recently retired from CNY Sheet Metal after 38 years. He enjoyed working part time for the Parks and Recreation Department of Skaneateles. Carl was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Skaneateles, and served as a council member. Carl devoted many years to coaching Little League Baseball and Youth Hockey in Skaneateles. He loved restoring classic cars, building projects, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Barbara; three sons, Allen (Shelly), Troy and Tyler; two daughters, Kristi (Keith) Krieger and Holly (Jim) Falso; seven grandchildren, Raymond, Kaylee, Christopher, Grant, Taylor, James and Garret; a brother, David of NC; and a sister, Ruth (Tom) Fleming of Geneva. Boyce, 88, of Scotia, after a long illness, died at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY on Monday, August 1, 2005. Esther was born in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Luisa Auti. On October 30, 1936, Esther married Frank L. Boyce. Esther worked on small motors for the General Electric Company in Schenectady for 37 years and retired in 1965. She was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Schenectady. Esther was predeceased in 1969 by her husband, Frank L. Boyce. She is survived by her son, Norman Boyce and his wife, Christine of Syracuse; and her daughter, Arlene Jackson of Latham; five grandchildren, Michael , Jeffrey, and Stephen Jackson, Jennifer McCaffrey and Jason Boyce; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Helen Dodge of Schenectady also survive. August 2, 2005 Michael J. Carroll, 53, of Fulton, formerly of Syracuse, died Tuesday at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was deeply loved and will be missed by his family and friends. Clark Sr., Charles Edward August 2, 2005 Charles Edward Clark Sr., 90, of Eastwood, entered eternal life on Tuesday at Crouse Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on December 4, 1914, in Oswego, NY. He resided in Syracuse for 65 years. He retired from Blessed Sacrament Church where he was also active as a Eucharistic Minister, usher, and avid volunteer. He enjoyed golf, traveling, and bowling. His family and grandchildren were the center of his life. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sophie M. (Naum) Clark; three sons, Charles E. Clark Jr. of Syracuse, David E. Clark of California, and Gary J. Clark (Kim) of California; as well as three daughters, all of Syracuse, Sheila A. Deptula (Patrick), Sharon A. Rupert, and Theresa J. Macri (John); 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Francis James Clark, in 2002. Cohen, Sadye Kaplan "Shaney" Kaplan Cohen August 2, 2005 Sadye "Shaney" Kaplan Cohen, age 100, died August 2, 2005, at Alterra Wynwood, where she had been a resident for almost four years. Shaney, a resident of Syracuse since 1933, was the last survivor of her generation that consisted of eight other siblings to whom she was extremely devoted. That devotion extended to her many and widely scattered cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was a longtime member of Temple Society of Concord and its Sisterhood. Geer, age 91, of Springbrook Apts., Pulaski, died Wednesday at James Square Nursing Home, Syracuse. She was born on July 27, 1914, in Pulaski, the daughter of Charles and Fannie Stark Wilder. She graduated from Pulaski High School in 1933 and graduated from Deibert Private Business School in 1935. She married Francis B. Geer on June 21, 1938. Mr. Geer died November 27, 1993. Dorothy was employed by Pulaski School District for 12 years as a clerk, retiring in 1962. She previously was employed by Hasting Real Estate & Ins. Agency, Pulaski. She was a 77-year member of the Pulaski Baptist Church and Ann Judson Mission Circle, a member of Pulaski Women's Civic Club, and former member of Pulaski OES#159. Surviving are her son, Dr. James F. Geer of Endicott; a daughter, Ruth Pederson of Herndon, VA; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Kolis, Edward V. August 2, 2005 Edward V. Kolis, 83, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday. He was born and educated in Dupont, PA, and spent most of his career employed by Aetna Window Cleaning Co. He was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a member of the Valley Legion Post. He served his country with pride in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII as a gunner on a B-24 in N. Africa and Italy where he received the Bronze Star and Flying Cross medals. Maliga, Joseph August 3, 2005 Joseph Maliga, of Cazenovia, passed away August 3 in Syracuse. Born in Mountaindale, NY, in 1931, Joe married the former Elizabeth Kennedy, his wife for 48 years. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and graduated in 1951 with a BS in mechanical engineering. He joined Carrier Corporation in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He returned to Carrier Corporation in 1957, working in California and Syracuse until 1970. He served as president of Carrier Houston (Houston, TX) from 1970-1977 and vice president of Europe and Africa for Carrier International from 1978-1982. He also worked as vice president of Florida Air Conditioning in Orlando, FL, before retiring in Cazenovia in 1990. A longtime usher at St. James Church in Cazenovia, he was also involved with Cazenovia Civic Club. Mott, 69, of Onondaga Hill, passed away in the early morning of August 3, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Syracuse on July 20, 1936 and graduated from Central High School in 1954. He attended Syracuse University for Accounting and graduated in 1958. Mr. Mott graduated from the Army School of Finance and was stationed in Munich, Germany from 1959 until 1962. He worked for the Richard D. Irwin Company as a well-respected and successful College Textbook Sales Representative from 1969 until his retirement in 1996. He converted to Catholicism this past spring, and attended mass at Most Holy Rosary Church. Charles was a wonderful, kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by the many people who knew him. He was a great lover of opera, gardening and traveling. He was a considerate and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Carol Hanley-Mott and his beloved daughter Gabrielle Hanley-Mott. He has several cousins scattered around the country who will miss him. Born in New York, she attended Onondaga Valley Academy in Syracuse, N.Y. She has lived in Kingston since 1958. She enjoyed playing the piano at many various churches, as well as enjoyed boating. She was also part of the Nursing Home Ministry. One of the most important things in her life was her family and her grandchildren. Phillips, Sister Mary Edwin August 2, 2005 Sister Mary Edwin Phillips, 83, of Syracuse, New York, died on Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, NY. Sister was born in New York, NY, to the late Eugene and Grace (Nicholas) Phillips of New York City. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on September 9, 1937, and professed Final Vows on August 20, 1943. Sister earned a bachelor's degree in history from Le Moyne College and a master's degree in history from Catholic University. She was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to study International Relations and Comparative Religions at Sophia University in Tokyo. She also studied business at Pace University in NYC and at Albany State College and Albany Business College. For 62 years Sister served as teacher in elementary, junior high and high schools in New Jersey, N. Carolina, Albany, Oswego and Syracuse, NY. From 1970 until retirement in 1997, Sister administered elementary and high schools as principal and was the assistant superintendent of schools in Oswego for the Syracuse Diocese. She was also a principal at St. Anthony High School in Long Beach, CA. From 1982-1987 Sister ministered in the Catholic Indian Mission in Fort Yates, N. Dakota. Sister is predeceased by two brothers, Eugene and Edward and five sisters, Anne, Marion, Dorothy, Gladys and Theresa. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Romano, Rose Felicia August 2, 2005 Rose Felicia Romano, 82, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at Birchwood Health Care Center. Rose was born in Syracuse and was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church. She was retired from Gerber Bedding and was a member of the Golden Agers. Her first husband, Thomas Felicia Sr., died in 1980, and her second husband, Anthony Romano, died in 1992. She was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Ditchfield) Barlow, born on June 25, 1904. Doris spent most of her life in Syracuse. She was secretary and assistant trea-surer of the former Sanford Fire Equipment Corp. of Syracuse. Doris was a graduate of Vocational High School and was also a member of the Corinthian Club and Cavalry Club. She studied voice with Professor Richard Calthrop of Syracuse University. Doris was predeceased by her husband Durston in 1989, former owner of Sanford Fire Equipment Corp., and a brother, Ernest Barlow in 1981. Vile, Doris Elizabeth August 3, 2005 Doris Elizabeth (Weller) Vile, 83, passed away at her home, surrounded by her daughters, after a brief but difficult battle with cancer. Doris was predeceased by her husband Harold "Jim" Vile in 1987 and since predeceased by six brothers and sisters. Before retirement she worked at the Valley Inn and Collins Restaurant for many years. She was born in Middletown, NY, and gradu-ated cum laude from Syracuse University in 1947. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Thomas M. Wilber. Mrs. Wilber taught school in Germany, among other places, for many years. She is survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Wilcox, Rev. H. Jane August 2, 2005 Rev. H. Jane Wilcox, 63, of Constantia, died Tuesday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse, she lived in Constantia for the past 40 years. She was a minister for the Church of God in Man in Constantia where she participated in many church related organizations and functions. She was a member of the VFW Post in Constantia. Surviving are her life partner, Pete Stetka; her children, David (Darlene), Daniel, Karen Wilcox-Figaro (Dan), Douglas (Ruth) and Kimberely Wilcox, all of Constantia; her sisters, Joan Catherman (Don), Beverly Markle (Mel), Janice Harriger (Chuck), and Joy McDermott; her brothers, Richard McDermott (Roxanna), Raymond McDermott, Ronald McDermott (Joyce), and Robert McDermott; 13 grandchildren. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. He was the owner of Fremont Auto Service in East Syracuse. He began his career as a skilledauto painter at Lincoln Mercury in Syracuse. Al was an expert mechanic, who enjoyed restoring old cars. His true passion was MOPARS. He was also an avid participant in classic car shows and frequently vacationed in Wells, Maine.
