He worked 33 years as a business teacher for the Syracuse City Public School System, retiring in 1989 from Nottingham High School. Peter also worked at CCBI for many years. Lillie, Gordon Douglas August 9, 2005 Gordon "Doug" Lillie, 87, of 1888 Route 38A, Moravia, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Born in Moravia on January 25, 1918, son of the late Leon Bidwell and Gladys Ruth Spencer. Gordon was agraduate of Moravia High School. Gordon served in Army from May 13, 1942 to December 1946. Gordon served in five campaigns in Europe during World War II. He was in the reserves from 1946 through 1949. Gordon re-enlisted in 1954 and served until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1970. He served in Korea and Vietnam in 1960 to 1961 and in Vietnam in 1968. He won medals and awards including the Bronze Star and two Commendation Ribbons. Gordon worked at Crucible in Syracuse before WWII and from 1970 until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union. Married to Eleanore Ely in July 3, 1971. Gordon is survived by two daughters, Marian E. Lillie, Syracuse and Cheryl Spafford Fickeisen (Gary), Moravia; one son, Raymond P. Spafford, Moravia; a brother, Richard (Betty), Moravia, sisters-in-law, Jean Lillie, Gouverneur, Leneta Ward, Star, Idaho, Elsie Galbraith, Groton; three grandsons, G. He was born in Utica, NY, son of John and Josephine Sychtysz Lonczak, and graduated from Notre Dame and M.V.C.C. Wil-liam was a Vietnam Era veteran, serving with the U.S. Air Force. He was employed for over 30 years with NYS Lottery in Syracuse. On January 25, 1969, William married Carol Potaczala in Holy Trinity Church, Utica. He was a member of St. Helena's Church in Sherrill. William will be remembered for his great sense of humor and big-hearted generosity, always willing to help others. She was born in Syracuse and lived most of her life on Highland St. Residing at Barrett Manor the last seven years, she was recently cared for at VanDuyn.She was a graduate of North High and a factory worker during World War II. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Altar and Rosary Society, spent many years as an election inspector, and was a volunteer, for several years at VanDuyn where she was honored as "Volunteer of the Year" in 1992. Survived by her son, John (Linda) Miesch of North Carolina; her daughters, Joyce (Jerry) Dixon of Onondaga Hill, and Mary Fear of Ohio. August 8, 2005 Margaret I. (Peggy) Tormay, 76, of The Nottingham, passed away Monday at Francis House. She was born in Syracuse on June 2, 1929, the daughter of Fenton C. Irving and Margaret Dee Irving. They died in 1975 and 1981 respectively. Margaretwas a devoted mother, homemaker and teacher. She began teaching at Cherry Road School in Westvale in 1951. She married Edward F. Tormay, Sr. on July 26, 1952 at St. John The Baptist Church in Syracuse. In 1968 she was the director and founder, along with her husband, of the Kyhr Early Childhood School in Towson, MD until 1970. She later loved volunteering in the Resource Room at Cherry Road School, where she began her teaching, from 1990 until 2000. She was deeply committed to children both personally and professionally throughout her life. Mrs. Tormay was a communicant of Holy Family Church until moving to The Nottingham in 2003 where she became a communicant of Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. She is now reunited with her devoted husband of 53 years, Edward F. Tormay, Sr., who recently passed away on July 21, 2005, at Francis House. Survivors: the much loved mother of three daughters, Katherine (John Jr.) Muller of St. Louis, MO, Dr. Margaret Tormay of Oak Park, IL, Elizabeth Tormay of Dover, NH; a son, Edward F. Tormay, Jr. of Youngstown, NY; proud grandmother of John III, Sara, and Joseph Muller and Hadley and Hannah Tormay; and also by several nieces and nephews. Margaret was an only child but enjoyed a lifelong friendship beginning at the Convent School with Marian Kernan Hanshaw of Boylston, MA as well as many good friends, adults and children alike. August 10, 2005 Gladys Ruth Wilder, 102, formerly of Fairmount, died Tuesday at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born in Adams Center. She had six siblings. She married Mildred Wilder in 1925. Gladys, Milfred and their child, F. Pete moved to Fairmount and were founding members of Fairmount Community Church. Gladys was active in Camillus Chapter O.E.S., Camillus Seniors, Republican Party and was charter member of Fairmount Vol. Fire Dept. She enjoyed listening to music, was an avid Yankees fan, and enjoyed doing needlepoint. She was predeceased by Milfred, F. Pete, and her daughter-in-law, M. Lynn Wilder Cooney. She is survived by her three grandsons, Michael, Mark (Lee, and daughters, Danielle and Mallory), and Peter (Kim Bland, and children, Jessica and Liam). Zinn, Gus G. August 9, 2005 Gus G. Zinn, 81, of 317 Falls Blvd., Chittenango, died Tuesday at home. Born in Kingston, PA. Mr. Zinn was a resident of Chittenango since 1948. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Syracuse and Chittenango for 32 years. Retiring in 1987. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville. Mr. Zinn was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict and was a member of the William Cain American Legion Post 1287 in Chittenango. He was a member of the Branch #134 National Association of Letter Carriers, AFL-CIO; also, served as a Trustee on Chittenango Village Board. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, the former Ann E. Argersinger; a son, David J. (Gladys) Zinn of New Woodstock; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Simmons and her companion, Robert Weigel of Chittenango; a brother, Gilbert Zinn of Orlando, FL; four sisters, Betty Welsh of Orlando, FL, Charlotte Carr of Sterling, Wanda Collins of Fayetteville and Henrietta Moore of Chittenango; and four grandchildren, Seth Simmons, D.J., Savannah and Ruth Ann Zinn and several nieces and nephews.
