Douglas Boyle died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 11, 2005, in Auburn, NY. Doug was born in Troy, NY, on June 19, 1941, the son of the late Charles W. Boyle and Elizabeth K. Boyle. Doug was a longtime resident of Skaneateles. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy and earned a bachelor of arts degree and master of science degree in anthropology from Syracuse University. He served in the U.S. Army in intelligence and communications. A voracious reader of American and military history, Doug was also an avid fan of high school and collegiate athletics. Doug is survived by his longtime, loving and supportive companion, Debbie Sprague of Skaneateles; his brothers, Steven P. Boyle (Rosemarie) of Slingerlands and Alan K. Coleman, Lucia August 12, 2005 Lucia "LuAnn" Coleman, 52, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at her home. A native of Geneva, NY, she resided in Syracuse most of her life. LuAnn worked for the Syracuse city schools since 1985 in the food service unit. She was president of the Syracuse Teachers Association, Unit 7, from 1994 to the present. She was a member of Unit 7 negotiating team for many years and a director on the Syracuse Teachers Association Executive Board since 1999. LuAnn was also a building representative at Henninger High School, where she worked as a cook. LuAnn was a NYSUT AFT delegate and was presented in 2000 with the NYSUT school-related professional award. She received the award in New York City with her fellow delegates at the NYSUT convention. STA presented LuAnn with an STA Lifetime Achievement Award this past May in recognition and celebration of her dedication, commitment, tenacity, compassion and honesty. LuAnn has said her most memorable accomplishment in her union career was negotiating paid holidays for food service workers for the first time in STA history. This was accomplished during 2000 contract negotiations due to her perseverance and determination. She touched many students as well as fellow union brothers and sisters. August 11, 2005 Muriel Illingworth Gallagher, 74, of DeWitt, passed away after a long illness at her home surrounded by her four daughters. She was born in Toronto, grew up in Syracuse and graduated from Central High and Syracuse University. She helped found the auxiliary to Hospice of CNY and served as the first president. She served on the alumni board for KKG sorority, Community General Hospital auxiliary board, Everson Museum members council and the YWCA board. She volunteered for Make-a-Wish Foundation and Komen Cancer Foundation. She was a past president of Suburban Garden Club. Rose was an avid bridge player and enjoyed teaching the game to others. She was also a skilled mah-jongg player as well. Wart, 84, of LeRoy, NY, formerly of Orwell died Saturday at Highland Hospital in Rochester. He was born on April 15, 1921, in Orwell, the son of Leon and Ida Parish Wart. He resided in LeRoy since 1977 and previously in Alden for 12, and Bloomsburg, PA. He graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1938 and served in the CCC. He married Marjorie Hatch on Dec. 29, 1947. He was employed by Agway as a manager from 1955 to 1983 and also owned a farm in Orwell for several years. He was predeceased by one son, Geofrey Wart, Aug. 2001. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie E. of LeRoy; one son, Philip Wart of Lancaster; one sister, Mildred DeBare of Phelps; and two grandchildren.
