She was a graduate of Columbia Bible College in Co-lumbia, SC and a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Syracuse where she sang in the choir for 18 years. Surviving are a sister, Rita Kimble of Billings, Montana; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Cavedine, 81, of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Solvay, passed away Thursday at Van Duyn Home and Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He worked in repair and maintenance at Allied Chemical of Solvay for many years before retiring in 1980. He was a past member of the Geddes Veterans and was an avid walker and hiker while living in Arizona. Surviving are his wife, the former Elva Hatch; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Richard Sauer of Pennellville; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Nancy Cavedine of St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren: Lauren, Kyle and Erik Sauer and Allen and Lee Cavedine; two brothers, Angelo and Joseph, both of Solvay; several nieces and nephews. Her husband of 63 years, Victor, died in 1996. Surviving: two sons, Peter S. (Marian) DelGiorno of Rochester, NY, Robert A. (Pamela) DelGiorno of New Orleans, LA; and her daughter, Annette P. He was born in Syracuse and served with the US Army during WWII, on D-Day they were the first invasion group at Normandy Beach. Heserved in Northern France and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a past Commander of the DAV Chapter 8, a member of the American Legion Mattydale Post, VFW in Solvay and 299th Combat Engineers Association. He graduated from North High School and played on its championship baseball and football teams in the early 30's. He was an active volunteer at the VA Medical Center for many years. Joseph had been employed by Whelan Drugs, Liggett's Pharmacy and Daw's Drugs before retiring in 1969. He is predeceased by his wife, Antoinette in 2001. Surviving are his children, Marie (Mickey) DeRoberts of Cicero; Joseph A. (Mary) Greco of Onondaga Hill and Victoria Cayea of N. William taught at Jowonio School in Syracuse and also worked at Castle Rest Nursing Home for 17 years. He was a Develop-mental Assistant for CNY DSO, currently at the Hamilton Road Group Home in Jordan. William was very attuned to nature and its wonders. He loved all animals, creatures and plants. He said "they are an inherent part of my soul". He had a national and international group of friends that he communicated with daily in French, German, Spanish and English. He was able to maintain strong friendships via the internet. William is survived by his beloved partner Leroy Bauer; his mother, Betty Redfield of N. Hoverstad, 45, of Tully, died Monday at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Kevin was born in Minneapolis, MN; graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1977. He was a graduate of Syracuse University wherehe received his M.S in Psychology and Sociology in 1985. Kevin was Dean of Academic Administration at Bryant & Stratton College. He started the "New Age Morning" radio program in 1985 on Jazz88 WAER and continued to serve as host for the past 20 years. He is survived by his parents, Herbert and Helen Hoverstad of Manlius; brothers, Kent (Ann), and Keith (Lainie); nephews, Carl and Eric; niece, Malorie. He leaves behind his dear friends, Peter Pavone and Joshua Smith along with countless others whose lives he touched. Mr. McCabe from Syracuse, was well-known in radio and television circles, having worked as a control room technician at WOLF and retiring from WSYR after 35 years, where he worked closely with Robert F. Doubleday and Don Daur on the Early Morning Farm Program. After retirement, he enjoyed working as a starter/ranger at Chestnut Hill C.C. in Alden, during the summer and Falcons Fire Golf Course in Kissimmee, FL during the winter months. He is survived by his wife, Lois (Decker) McCabe; son, James McCabe of New Hampshire; daughters, Chris McCabe of Churchville and Marilyn Weinert of South Byron. "Dick" February 2, 2005 Richard F. (Dick) McCale, 92, formerly of Jervis Ave., Rome, died February 2, 2005 in James Square Nursing Home in Syracuse after a long illness. He was born December 8, 1912, in Rome, the son of Fred and Ida Henry McCale. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius Academy and attended Cortland State Teachers College. On June 1940, he married Eleanor Wirth. She died April 25, 1990. Dick managed the Printing Office at Revere Copper and Brass for 39 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of and usher at St. Paul's Church. Dick was also a member of the Utica District Club of Printing House Craftsmen, the Skenandoa Golf Club, and the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. McCale is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Buongiorne, Baldwinsville, and Janis and Patrick O'Neill, Virginia Beach, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Judy McCale, Jr., North Syracuse; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Born in Bronx, NY, she grew up in Kingston, NY, and graduated from Syracuse University in 1964 with a BS in education of physically handicapped children, followed by a MS degree in education of emotionally disturbed children. She was a member of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority. She taught at the Ed Smith and Charles Andress Schools. Pam was committed to, and active with, the Vera Andress House (home for battered women), Planned Parenthood, and co-founded Women's American ART, Hospice of Palm Beach County. Her public service and concern for others was apparent in her day to day lifestyle and was exemplified in her commitment to those who were less fortunate. Pam was a role model to her peers and received great admiration for her bravery, her dedication, and positive outlook on life. Surviving are two sons, P.J. January 31, 2005 Joseph C. Stinson, 87, of Valerie Circle, Fayetteville, died January 31 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Elmira, NY and raised in Lockport, NY. He received a degree in group work from Springfield College. For his service in WWII, he re-ceived a Bronze Star. "Daddy Joe" (as he was known to many children) spent his life in youth services with the YMCA, directing youth and day camp programs in upstate New York. He was a strong supporter of the new East Area YMCA, a dream that began when he worked in Syracuse in the l950's. He received the Man to Man, Man of the Year Award (1999) from the American Cancer Society. Local children (and others, still young at heart) may remember him as a parade leader, song leader, singer, whistler, and story teller. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret; three daughters, Pam of Boulder, Colorado, Val of Palo Alto, CA and Orleans, Massachusetts, and Deb of Manhattan; son-in-law, Burt Pearlstone; and two grandsons, David and Thomas Pearlstone, also of Manhattan. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2005, at the United Church of Fayetteville, NY, 310 E. Genesee St. Reception to follow. Bolton (Keeler) Stivers, 76, of Syracuse, passed away quietly after a long illness. "Bev" was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Pulaski Post 1650 and the Woman of The Moose Chapter 625. She is a former employee of Abe's Donut Shop and a longtime employee of Fay's Drugs in Shop City. She was predeceased by her husband, John E. Stivers, October 1980, and her eldest daughter, Marjorie V. Wysockey Clute, July 2004. Surviving her are her sons, Mickey, Bill and Robert Keeler, John E. Stivers, and daughter, Eleanor V. Stivers, all of Syracuse; also three siblings, Stewart Bolton of FL, Robert Bolton of AZ, and Lois LaFrance of Liverpool; several grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 2:30 p.m. at Pirro and Sons Funeral Home. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home, 514 Turtle St., Syracuse. February 1, 2005 Donald S. Waters, 84, of Camillus, and formerly of Lynch Avenue, went to his Heavenly home Tuesday. Don served his country as a Staff Sgt. of the Army Air Force in the South Pacific. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office for37 years. Don was an avid sportsman. He played and refereed basketball and football, and he bowled with the church league. He loved gardening and camping. His family is left with many memories of trips all over our country. He was a charter member and president of the Hiawatha Camping Chapter. Don was an Elder of Elmwood Presbyterian Church and, until his illness, served his Lord in any way that he could. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty; three daughters, Donna (John) Mathewson, Sally (Phil) Strough, both of the Town of Onondaga, and Susan (Richard) Melchior of Camillus; and five grandchildren. A beloved and loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by all. He donated his body to science. There will be no calling hours. Yankulovich, Velika February 2, 2005 Mrs. Velika Yankulovich, 95, 133 Longwood Dr., East Syracuse, died February 2, 2005. She passed away peacefully at her home. Born in Velusina, Macedonia, April 17, 1909, she married Marko Yankulovich in 1928. With four daughters and one on the way, Mr. Yankulovich left for the United States in 1938 to establish himself and later send for his family. W.W.II and political events in Macedonia altered their plans, and they were separated for 15 years. Reunited on August 6, 1953, they settled in Syracuse where Mr. Yankulovich had been living, and their sixth daughter was born. Mrs. Yankulovich and her husband were one of the founders of St. George Macedonian Eastern Orthodox Church, where she remained an active member of the church community. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Milica Dudevski of Camillus, Mara and Jovan Mangovski of Kirkville, Luba and Slavejko Aleksovski of Camillus, Zoya and Vlade Stefan of Palmetto, FL, Menka and Pete Ristevski of Palmetto, FL, and Diane Sofi and Nikola Paunovski of East Syracuse; her 12 grandchildren, two grandsons-in-law and seven granddaughters-in-law; and 24 great-grandchildren, who were all in attendance at a family reunion in July 2004. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. with a Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. Friday, February 4, at St. George Macedonian Eastern Orthodox Church in Syracuse. Funeral services will be held at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 5, followed by burial services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse. Arrangements by Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel.
