Mrs. Astasof was born in 1916 in Dushatyn, Sanok, Region of Lemkivshchyna. During WW II Germans sent her to Austria to work. In 1950 she emigrated to the United States with herhusband, Trivon and daughter, Helen and settled in Syracuse. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and member of the Apostileship of Prayer. Her husband Trivon died in 1967. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Nicholas Duplak of Camillus; three granddaughters, Yarusia and husband, Anthony Fichera of Baldwinsville, Oksana and husband, Neil Chesterfield of Bay Village, Ohio, and Orysia Duplak of Camillus; five great-grandchildren. She was a catalog sales representative for Montgomery Ward Company and a nurse at Ellis Hospital both in Schenectady, NY. For the past several years she resided in Fulton. Gwen was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Marie Boyce in 1958. She is survived by her daughter, Lori A. Cranker of Albany, NY; three sons, Michael A. Boyce of Delanson, NY, Eric J. Clarke, Sherry Andrew January 31, 2005 Sherry Andrew Clarke, 87, husband of the late Hazel Nicholson Clarke, of 416 Skillet Road, Waterloo, SC, died Monday, January 31, 2005 at National Health Care of Laurens. A native of Port Byron, NY, Mr. Clarke was the son of the late William C. and Gertrude Clarke. He was a retired employee of the West Genesee School District of New York State and was a member of Warners United Methodist Church of Warners, NY. Mr. Clarke was a US Army veteran and served in the 71st Armored Field Artillery Battalion of the Fifth Armored Division during WWII. Mr. Clarke is survived by grandson, Charles Harry Clarke, II and wife, Lisa Mann, Waterloo, SC; great-grandchildren, Dallion and Elanna Mann. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Clarke was predeceased by son, Charles Harry Clarke; grandson, Andrew Paul Clarke; and 12 brothers and sisters. She was born October 17, 1908 in Fabius, NY, the daughter of Earl F. and Mildred I. Webster Reynolds. A longtime resident of Little York, she moved to Homer in 1986. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Homer and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member and past chairperson of the Little York Community Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul G. Hartquist in 1989; and a sister, Eloine Sullivan. "Jim" McVoy, 83, a lifelong resident of Webb Road in LaFayette, passed away at home on Wednesday after a long illness. He married his high school classmate Thelma "Sally" Lauzon on Flag Day in 1941, and they celebrated their 63rd anniversary last year. Jim and Sally retired from the family dairy farm in the 1970's after more than 30 years, and Jim went on to drive a school bus for several years for the LaFayette School District. After a second retirement, Jim and Sally enjoyed many years of square dancing, cards, reading and traveling together, and with their children and grandchildren. His prowess at dominoes, horseshoes and the Sunday Jumble were legendary. In addition to Sally, Jim is survived by two children, James Jr. of Coatesville, PA and Mary of LaFayette; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen of LaFayette. His ever present sense of humor, his loving kindness and support, and his gift for storytelling will be sorely missed. (Firley) Stanziano, 80, a life-resident of the Syracuse area passed away Thursday in the Community General Hospital. She graduated from Vocational High School and had been employed in the Accounting Department of the NewYork Telephone Company for 24 years before her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a past member of the Women's Telephone Golf League at Brooklawn and was currently a member of the Countess League at Rogues Roost. She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church and a member of its Mothers Club and Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed her family, flower gardening and her many travels with her best friend. She touched all who met her and will be greatly missed. Her husband, Ralph Stanziano died January 27, 2000 and her daughter, Barbara died on September 16, 1997. He was a life-member and past Captain of Fire Police with the Baldwinsville Volunteer Fire Department. He was an Army Veteran serving during WWII. January 31, 2005 Joseph C. Stinson, 87, of Valerie Circle, Fayetteville, died January 31 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Elmira, NY and raised in Lockport, NY. He received a degree in group work from Springfield College. For his service in WWII, he re-ceived a Bronze Star. "Daddy Joe" (as he was known to many children) spent his life in youth services with the YMCA, directing youth and day camp programs in upstate New York. He was a strong supporter of the new East Area YMCA, a dream that began when he worked in Syracuse in the l950's. He received the Man to Man, Man of the Year Award (1999) from the American Cancer Society. Local children (and others, still young at heart) may remember him as a parade leader, song leader, singer, whistler, and story teller. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret; three daughters, Pam of Boulder, Colorado, Val of Palo Alto, CA and Orleans, Massachusetts, and Deb of Manhattan; son-in-law, Burt Pearlstone; and two grandsons, David and Thomas Pearlstone, also of Manhattan. Born in Czechoslovakia, he had retired from the Onondaga County Highway Department. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Skaneateles and was a 45-year member of the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department. His wife, Mary, died in 1994. Surviving are a stepson, James Mack; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister; and nieces and nephews in Czechoslovakia. Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Robert D. Walker, Charlotta May January 31, 2005 Charlotta May Walker, 91, died Monday at Rosewood Heights Health Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Walker in 1977. February 1, 2005 Jerrell Lewis Welch, 22, of Camillus, passed away from this life on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at University Hospital. He was courageous in his battle of Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia these past two years. Jerrell had a positive attitude and wasloved by all. He lives on forever in the hearts of those he left behind: Parents Sherri Welch of Camillus and Charles (Dorothy) Frenza Welch of Syracuse; brother, Justin Welch of Camillus; sister, Amber Welch of Syracuse. Jerrell had a very special bond with his grandmother, Bertha Jamison of Syracuse. People very close to Jerrell were his godfather, Joseph Baker of Camillus; his brother-friend, Ronnie Pyer; Mama 2 Kim Allen with Big Kev and little "sisters" Amanda, Ashley and Amber Allen. Irene Basch and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends will miss Jerrell. He was the best son a mother could hope for. She was born in Vancouver, WA and lived in the Baldwinsville area most of her life. Sandra was employed at Gaylord Bros., Liverpool. An avid bowler, she was a memberof the Liberty mixed league at the Thunderbird Bowling Alley. Survivors: her husband of 42 years, Theodore "Ted"; a daughter, Jody L. of Baldwinsville; a son, Jeffrey C. (Coleen) of Syracuse; and four grandchildren.
