A native of Syracuse, he graduated from Minoa High School in 1948 and attended Le Moyne College, O.C.C. and University College. He re-tired as a designer from General Electric Co. in 1989 after 33 years of service. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Army Corps of Engineers. Evans, Irene E. Leyson January 24, 2005 Irene E. Leyson Evans, 84, passed away on January 24, 2005 at Van Duyn Home and Hospital where she resided since 2002. Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, where she resided until 1982 when she moved to Homer, NY. Shewas a graduate of Central High School and continued her education at CCBI. She was an employee of General Electric for 15 years until she accepted a position at Baldwin Hall and Company where she worked another 15 years as an accountant. After moving to Homer, NY in 1982 she accepted a position as a bookkeeper for the Cortland County Office of Aging for approximately five years. She moved back to Syracuse in 2001. On November 14, 1943, Irene married Ellis R.L. Evans who passed away in 1972. She is survived by a daughter, Laura Evans Guinto-Bennett; granddaughters, Phillisa P. Formica, Beverly Arseneau February 8, 2005 Beverly Arseneau Formica died February 8, and her husband John A. Formica died one day later on February 9. Mrs. Formica had formerly been employed by Mohegan Markets before becoming a devoted homemaker. February 9, 2005 Mr. Formica was a Korean veteran with the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Valley Men's Club. He had formerly been the manager of the Mohegan Market, then worked for Tip Top Bread Co., and also Green Hills Farms. They were both life residents of Syracuse and communicants of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Their son, William Formica died in 1993. They are survived by three daughters, Kathy M. Formica of Liverpool, Susan M. (Michael) Toomey of Virginia, and Donna M. Formica of Syracuse; and a grandson, Kyle Toomey. Mr. Formica is also survived by two sisters, Rose Mirarche of Syracuse and Josie (Michael) Nuzzo of Syracuse, and a brother, Frank (Catherine) Formica of Syracuse.
