Sarah lived in Syracuse, NY, most of her life, where she retired from Onondaga Central High School as an office secretary. She and her husband Bucky moved to Fairhope in 1994 to enjoy the sun and warm weather of the south. Sarah loved being with family and leaves many friends, both in Syracuse and Fairhope, who will miss her dearly. She was born in Maplewood, NJ, and resided in Camillus since 1955. Pat was vice presidentof Connell Financial Group LLC in Camillus and previously worked for the E.W. Edwards and Dey Bros. department stores in Camillus. Pat was an active member of Holy Family Parish in Fairmount, where she taught religious education classes, served as a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Funeral Luncheon Team, the Altar & Rosary Society and led many Bible studies. Pat was also a member of the Tuesday Morning Bible Study at Immanuel Church of the Nazarene in Taunton, Camillus Business & Professional Women's Club and Tuscarora Golf Club. Costello, 77, of Syracuse, died Thursday in the St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center. A Roman Catholic priest for over 50 years, Father Costello received his elementary and secondary education at St. Patrick's School in Syra-cuse, graduating in 1945. From 1945-47 he attended St. Andrew's Seminary in Rochester and from 1947-49 St. Bernard's Seminary in Rochester, and from 1949-53 he studied theology at the Theological College of Catholic University, Washington, DC. His appointments from the Diocese of Syracuse were on June 10, 1953, as assistant pastor of St. John the Evangelist, Pulaski; on June 23, 1954, as assistant pastor of St. Matthew's, East Syracuse; on February 15, 1957, chaplain with the U.S. Armed Forces, Fort Slocum; on February 14, 1961, assistant pastor, St. Francis de Sales, Utica; he was released from U.S. Army Chaplaincy on September 19, 1961; on September 10, 1963, he became assistant pastor of St. Anthony of Padua, Syracuse; on January 6, 1966, assistant pastor of St. Paul's Church, Oswego; on June 3, 1968, pastor St. Michael's, Central Square; October 16, 1970, pastor, St. Anthony of Padua Church, Syracuse; on March 1, 1978, pastor of Holy Family Church, Fulton; on May 18, 1988, pastor, St. John the Baptist Church, Syracuse; in July 1994, pastor, St. Helena's Church, Sherrill. He resigned from pastoral responsibility on January 29, 2002. He was predeceased by his parents, John F. Costello and Mary Catherine Costello, and his sister, Anne Dieter, in 1985. February 12, 2005 Jeanette Madeline (Veckerino) Damico, 83, of Syracuse, beloved mother and grandmother, died Saturday. Jeanette was born in Syracuse and grew up on the south side. She was the daughter of Patrizia Dettor and Louis Veckerino. Jeanette worked in market research for many years. She also was very active in the Democratic Party and had worked at Nichols School polling center in Eastwood. Her husband of 56 years, Joseph G. Damico, died March 25, 1997. Jeanette loved to cook for her family and play cards with her friends. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, past member of St. Theresa's Society at Our Lady of Pompei Church and their senior citizens, the Holy Trinity Seniors and St. Peter's Seniors. February 12, 2005 Jim "Hooper" Diamond Jr., 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him, was called by the Lord to be with Him on February 12. He passed away after a short, courageous battle with cancer. He was born inSyracuse to the late James, a firefighter who died fighting the Collins Block fire in 1939, and Elizabeth (Egan) Diamond McKeever. He attended St. Lucy's Academy in Syracuse. Jim was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, having served in the Korean War. He was employed by the Syracuse Police Department, retiring after 21 years. He also was employed by Fay's Drug Co., for 20 years. Jim was an active member of the Pastime Athletic Club in Syracuse and was a founding member of the Rascals Social Organization of Tipperary Hill. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Diamond Meagher, and stepfather, James McKeever. Bert was an employee of Crouse Hinds Corp. in Syracuse for over 40 years in the engineering dept. He was a former Boy Scout leader for Troop 181 in Syracuse. He was an Eagle Scout and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award for leadership. He was one of the original members of the Lake Forest Sportsmen's Club. He was a former treasurer and taught hunter safety classes at the club. He was a member of the Fort Brewerton Masonic Lodge #256 and a member of the Brewerton United Methodist Church. In his earlier years, he enjoyed camping, canoeing and carpentry. He especially liked working outdoors, gardening and wildlife. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth (Grieb) and Herman Kohlman, and his wife of 50 years, Claribel (Ameigh). Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne M. (Elwood B.)
