He had been employed by the Presto-lite Corporation for over 30 years before retiring in 1975. Dinger, 94, of 1762 Collins Rd., LaFayette, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005, in the Van Duyn Home and Hospital. Max was born in Solingen, Germany, in 1910. His mother Anna was a midwife and his dad Max was a famous sword maker who made swords for many prominent figures in Europe. Max came to the United States, Utica, NY, in 1929, first working at the Utica Cutlery Co. and then the West End Brewing Co. from which he retired in 1973 after 32 years. Max and his wife of 32 years, Rosemarie Dinger, were the oldest living members of the Utica Maennerchor, a German organization which provided many years of enjoyment and lifelong friends. Max is survived by his wife Rosemarie, his daughter Lesa Garafalo, and grandson Jason Garafalo, all of LaFayette; a granddaughter Kimberly Mathews and her husband Larry and great-granddaughter Christine, all of Liverpool; nieces, Johanna Prong, Heidi Marko; nephews, Richard Scholl, Kurt Scholl and their families. Neuman, Leo February 17, 2005 Leo Neuman, 84, of Dewitt, died Thursday at Community General Hospital. Mr. Neuman was a witness to and survivor of the Holocaust. Mr. Neuman came to Syracuse in 1950. He was employed by Dey Brothers as Workroom manager for 34 years in the Tailoring Department, having retired in 1989. Mr. Neuman was the author of With My Last Breath, Memories of Leo Neuman, Holocaust Survivor, published in 1999. Mr. Neuman was the recipient of many honors, including the Eli Weisel Lifetime Achievement Award for his book and he was also honored with the Martyrology Service at Temple Adath Yeshurun in 1994 entitled My Name is Leo Neuman and I was born in Auschwitz. He was a member of Temple Society of Concord and a former member of Adath Yeshurun and of Young Israel Shari Torah.
