February 6, 2005 Archie W. Beare, age 64, of Marcellus, died peacefully on the morning of Sunday, February 6, in Traverse City, MI, where he had recently moved to live with his sisters. Early in life, Archie excelled in sports achieving honors in bas-ketball and football while playing for Marcellus High School. He went on to play college football before serving his country in the Marine Corps Reserves. An avid outdoorsman, Archie enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting sports. As a trapshooter he achieved numerous accomplishments, including repeat performances as the CNY Trap League Champion, multiple medals in the Empire State Games and various other trophies and recognitions. Archie introduced many young shooters to the joys of shooting sports. Outside the world of shooting, Archie's positive impact reached into many other lives through many years of coaching basketball and baseball. The lessons and skills he taught applied both on and off the court. In 1994, Archie retired from New Venture Gear in DeWitt after 34 years of service working as a furnace repairman, then as a union steward. While at New Venture Gear, Archie made a significant contribution to the workplace as he fought for fairness and equality for those he represented. Above all, Archie valued his faith, family and friends, including those he left behind: his son Andy, daughter-in-law Michelle, his grandchildren Jared, Lydia, and Noelle, his stepson Mark and family Deb, Meghan, Rebecca, Emily, and Mitchell, his sisters Sharon and Joanne, and very special friend Barbara. Even in the midst of a losing battle with cancer, Archie maintained his positive spirit and brightened the day of all who came in contact with him. He leaves behind a legacy of goodness, generosity, character and love. The lives he touched are countless, and he will be dearly missed by all. Liz left Michigan after high school for Skidmore College and graduated with a B.S. degree andpracticed as a registered nurse in Ithaca, New York City and Syracuse, NY. Although Liz raised her family in upstate New York, she frequently visited her family and roots in Mich. Liz maintained that midwest quality of being quietly adventurous throughout her life; she was game for most anything! Liz could be quite a tease, loved to laugh and used her skills, humor and wisdom to nurture and care for kids, friends, acquaintances and hamsters. Liz settled in Stuart, FL, in 1995 and was an active member of Highpoint Community Church in Port St. Lucie, FL. She loved the Lord and often spoke about the sustenance she gained from that relationship. She was a homemaker, an avid bird watcher, enjoyed playing cards and bowling, and was a talented seamstress. Indick, Michael John February 17, 2005 Michael John Indick, 46, of Rossland Circle, Cicero, died on Thursday, February 17, after suffering over five years from a devastating stroke. Michael was a graduate of St. Margaret's School, honor roll graduate of North Syracuse High School, 1976,and honor graduate of LeMoyne College, 1980. Michael had a great drive to do well in everything he did. He held several successful jobs on the way to what he really wanted. He worked for Coopers & Lybrand, Syracuse City School District, Fayetteville-Manlius High School, Frenches Inc., he was a comptroller for many years for Eldan Homes and J.R. Clancy. He was a partner at J. W. Stevens when he suffered his stroke in 1999. Michael was a member of many organizations over the years, including Pastime Athletic Club, Lyncourt Bowling League, and several softball and basketball leagues. He was a member and former treasurer of Beaver Meadows Golf Club. He was a former president of the Cicero Chamber of Commerce, former trustee for Cicero Library, member of Cicero's "Four Corners" committee, a member of Sacred Heart Church of Cicero and also attended Cicero United Methodist Church regularly. Mr. Indick also volunteered as a coach for the Cicero Recreational soccer and basketball programs. He was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph J., in June 2000. He leaves behind his devoted family of his wife, Wendy Ann (McChesney); his son, Sean Michael; his daughter, Amanda Marie; his mother, Florence E. Edward was the son of Stephen and Mary Skupin Krisak, immigrants from Zdair, Slovakia. He was born on March 16, 1922, in Coalport, PA, and resided in Syracuse for over 78 years. Lennon, 77, of New Hartford, passed away Thursday in Clearwater, FL. Bill was born on June 13, 1927, in Utica, NY, the son of Floyd and Mabel Martin Lennon. He was a member of the UFA class of 1945 and attended Association Colleges of New York. Bill was a baseball all-star during his high school and college days. A WW II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater and occupation of Japan. On June 4, 1949, he married the former Lorine Albright in Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica. Bill was employed with Utica Fire Dept. for 36 years, retiring as assistant fire chief in April 1984. During his career he received several commendations for outstanding service. Zoeckler Jr., Louis T. February 18, 2005 Louis T. Zoeckler Jr., 84, of Cazenovia, died Friday at his home. Born in Utica, he had lived in Cazenovia for 49 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, where he served as a photographer. He attained a bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswegoand a master's degree from Syracuse University. Mr. Zoeckler retired from the East Syracuse-Minoa School District in 1986, where he taught driver's ed., photography, industrial arts and was the AV director. He was a member of the NYS Teachers Association. An avid hiker and boater, he belonged to the Tramp & Trail Club of Utica, Nature Conservancy and the Adirondack Club. He also loved to swim, ski and play tennis. He was a Boy Scout leader for 14 years. Mr. Zoeckler was a communicant of St. James Church in Cazenovia. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Marie (Judy); his children: Paul (Christina) of Fayetteville, Ellen (Michael) Maestri of Minoa, Karl (Mary) of Connecticut, David (Evelina) of California, Eric (Jeanette) of Lafayette, Lynda (Dov) Schiller of Vermont, Laura (Douglas) Hall of California; 18 grandchildren.
