Alberts, Mary Lou February 19, 2005 Mary Lou Alberts (Jenner) (Caruana), 74, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 19, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her children, at Francis House. Formerly ofBrewerton, she was the daughter of the late Ralph David and Dorothea Jenner. She was born August 26, 1930 in Cortland. A graduate of St. Anthony of Padua High School in Syracuse, she spent many successful years in banking and sales. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Melluni in 2004. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Tom Caruana of N. Syracuse, Leo Caruana and Paull Caruana both of Syracuse, David Caruana of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Therese Hon of Mattydale; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Jenner of Augusta, GA, and Jackie Degnan of Martinez, GA; three nieces; one nephew; several great-nieces and nephews and cousins. Bridge, 85, of Syracuse, died Sunday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Clockville for 25 years until moving to the Camillus area. Lindsey was a 1941 graduate of Syracuse University with a degree inchemical engineering. He was a chemical engineer for Allied Signal Corp. for 33 years. An Army Air Corps veteran, he served as captain during WW II. Lindsey was a member of the Men's Garden Club since 1967, recipient of the Master Gardener Award in 1984 and president in 1986. A member of Habitat for Humanity, he helped build 22 homes in Florida. He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Jeanette Britton; daughters, Carol (Don) King of McKinney, TX and Jeanne (Edward) Keplinger of Pompey; sons, Robert (Diane) Bridge of Fairfax, VA and Jay W. Eliot, Phyllis Scott "Fifi" February 21, 2005 Fifi Eliot quietly closed the window of her life at her daughter's home in South Portland, Maine on February 21, 2005. She spent her final weeks there in a sun-filled room, surrounded by family and friends. Born to Laura and Freder-ick Scott in Rochester, NY in 1924, Fifi grew up in Syracuse, New York amongst a tightly-knit clan of family and friends. After her early schooling, she attended The Westover School and Vassar College, from which she received a B.A. in Child Development in 1944. After the war, she taught for two years at the Crossroads School in Hawaii and then moved to Boston, where she worked for the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and sang with the Chorus Pro Musica. After leaving Boston, she continued her association with the Infirmary through the Ladies Visiting Committee. In 1953 she wed John B. Eliot of Manchester, Massachusetts to whom she was married for 24 years. They lived in Manchester, where they raised four children, Barklie, Catherine, Scott, and Caroline. Throughout her time in Manchester, she was deeply involved in the community. At her arrival, she joined St. John's Church in Beverly Farms, where she helped organize numerous fundraising events and sang in the choir. A volunteer at the Beverly Hospital for many years, she received an award for contributing 7,000 volunteer hours to the hospital. More recently, when her health limited her activities, she enjoyed reaching out to children as a reader at the Northshore Nursery School, where she was known as "Grandma Fifi." In addition to these volunteer activities, she also was involved in the commercial life of the area. For several years she co-owned and operated a gourmet cooking store in the center of Manchester, and later worked at the Landmark School in Beverly Farms. Fifi is survived by her sister, Caroline Turner of Tiburon, California; by her four children, Barklie Eliot of Vero Beach, FL, Catherine Eliot of South Portland, Maine, Scott Eliot of Newbury, Massachusetts, and Caroline Eliot of Bowdoin, Maine; and by six grandchildren. Her life will be celebrated by a memorial service on Monday, February 28 at 1 p.m. at Saint John's Episcopal Church in Beverly Farms, Massachusetts. Evans, 72, of Skaneateles, NY and Florida died February 21, 2005. Born in Syracuse, NY he was the past Vice President of Agway. He was a graduate of Syracuse University and received is M.B.A. from the University of Tennessee. Mr. Evans was a Korean War veteran with the Marines and a member of American Legion Post #239. He was also very active in the Salvation Army and the Rescue Mission. In Florida he was active in the Guard Ad Litem program and the Christian Motorcycle Association. He received many awards and honors over the years, Mr. Evan's also made the Who's Who in the east. He also loved to ride his Harley. Schulte, Bernard "B.J." February 18, 2005 Bernard "B.J." Schulte of Norwich, New York and Hilton Head, South Carolina died Friday, February 18, 2005, from complications of a long-standing illness. Mr. Schulte was born November 5, 1929, in Marysville, Kansas.Following graduation from Creighton University in 1951, Mr. Schulte served aboard the USS Oriskany as a naval intelligence officer during the Korean War. After the war, he earned a law degree from Kansas University, and practiced as a patent attorney for the former Esso Corporation in New Jersey. Mr. Schulte's ties to Norwich date back to 1960 when he began a 30-year career with Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals. As General Counsel and Vice-President of Legal Affairs, he was a devoted advocate for the community during a period of transition for the Norwich based business, now a division of Procter and Gamble Corporation. His community service also included long-term board membership for Pathfinder Village for Down Syndrome and Catholic Charities of Chenango County. He was also a former President of the Chenango County Bar Association. Mr. Schulte is survived by his wife of 47 years, Myrna; a son, Mark Schulte and his wife, Janet, of Dewitt, New York; a daughter, Catherine Schulte-Hamilton, and her husband, Gregory, of Providence, Rhode Island; five grandchildren, Carolyn, Mary, Thomas, and Jennifer Schulte, and Emily Hamilton; and a sister, Aldene Quilici of Portland, Oregon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, A.A. and Bernedetta Schulte; and a sister, Mary Schulte of St. Louis, MO. Hewas a member of Sedgwick Farm Tennis Club and Alethia. He was an avid skier and a longtime member of Beaver Lake Nature Center. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Shirley A.
