He was born in Syracuse and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Daimler Chrysler Corp. for 37 years, retiring in 1975. Carl was a commu-nicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was an avid golfer and secretary of Our Lady of Pompei Golf League. Surviving: his wife, Mary K. Ellamae was the last survivor of her brothers and sisters. She was essentially a lifelong resident and farmer in the town of Cicero, specializing in egg production, fruit, vegetables and perennial flowers. She was predeceased by her husband Frank. Federico, Genevieve DeSantis Federico December 28, 2004 Genevieve DeSantis Federico, 82, of Syracuse, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, NY, on April 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Eustachio DeSantis and the latePasqualina DeSantis of Syracuse. She lived her entire life in Syracuse, graduating from Central High School. She was awarded a full scholarship to Syracuse University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance. She continued with post-graduate work and a concert career following her graduation from SU until she met her husband of 52 years, the late Guerino Federico, in Boston, MA. Settling in Syracuse, Genevieve and her husband raised two daughters and brother-in-law, Carmine Federico, and moved her musical talents toward teaching, first in her father's music store, the Lyra Music Company, and until her death, at Genevieve DeSantis Federico School of Music in Eastwood. Over the past 60 years, her influence on thousands of students throughout the Central New York area is immeasurable but recognizable by the number of students who have pursued their own professional careers in music and the countless recitals and entertainment programs she provided for the Syracuse community. She currently served as organist for St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church and previously held similar positions at St. Brigid's, St. Joseph's and Our Lady of Pompei churches. Well-known for her accompanying skills, she worked with various choruses and soloists in both public and parochial schools, most recently at St. Margaret's Elementary School. In addition to her work with students, she was often asked to accompany professional performers and served for many years as rehearsal accompanist for the Pompeian Players. In past years Genevieve hosted her own radio show on WFBL devoted to Italian music and culture. She, along with her students, has been recently featured on The Italians, seen on local Syracuse television channel 7. Her devotion to her Italian heritage fueled the many programs she assembled with her students, performing at venues such as the New York State Fair, The Syracuse Festa Italiana, Columbus Day Parades and for cultural, civic and charitable organizations. She has received numerous awards and citations at the state and local level for her musical and cultural efforts and was honored as Grand Marshall of the Columbus Day Parade. She was a member of Music Teachers National Association, The Professional Musicians of CNY, Local 78, Sigma Alpha Iota National Music Honorary, Central New York Music Teachers Association, New York State School Music Association and Music Educators National Conference. Her cultural and charitable affiliations included the Daughters of Columbus, the Italian American Heritage Association, the National Italian American Foundation and current vice president of Progresso Lodge, Order Sons of Italy, in America. Genevieve is survived by her daughters, Amelita (Bill) McGrath of Sayville, New York, and Ofelia Bell of Syracuse; sisters: Aida Caputo, Tosca (Dominic) DeSantis, Norma (Augusto) Collacchi, Melisande (Nicholas) Petosa and Leonora Payne; five grandchildren: Joseph, John and Jessica Bell, and Jennifer and Alexandra McGrath, who is currently residing in France; several brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; and many loving friends. December 24, 2004 Anna T. Ince, 87, of Delray Beach, FL, and formerly of East Syracuse, NY, died at Delray Medical Center on December 24, 2004, of a heart attack. She is survived by her beloved husband, William Francis Ince. She was the loving mother of daughter Carolyn Ince Dugan (and husband John) of Madison, CT; daughter Mary Elizabeth Godleski, who died in 1988, (and husband Jack of Manlius, NY); and son William J. Ince (and wife Carol) of Cicero, NY. Anna was the eldest of six siblings and is survived by two sisters, Mary Seeber and Helen Johnson, both of Watertown, New York. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was born on August 25, 1923, in Altmar, the daughter of Joseph and Elsie Sejnoha Janacek. She resided in Altmar for most of her life, moving to Pulaski in 2003. She graduated from Altmar High School and married Charles H. Kaine on April 9, 1942, in Sandy Creek. He died on Sept. 10, 1990. She was a member of Pine Meadows Wesleyan Church. O'Hara, 94, of Camden, a retired dentist, passed away December 30, 2004, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. He was born November 28, 1910, in Syracuse, NY, a son of Cyrus and Mary Agnes Casey O'Hara, and was educated in the Porter School and Christian Brothers Academy, Syracuse, NY; Niagara University; Syracuse University; University of Buffalo Dental School; and Northwestern University Post-Graduate Dental School. From July 1934 through August 1940, he was employed as dental intern, dental resident and Chief of Oral Surgery at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY. He was in private practice in Johnson City from 1940 until he entered the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was discharged in 1946 as a Lieutenant with the Dental Corps. He was also a charter member of Arthur S. Moran American Legion Post #66, Camden, NY. In 1946, he moved to Camden and operated a dental practice for 33 years. He was a 1941 graduate of Franklin Academy of Malone. He entered the Army Air Corpsand served in combat during WW II. He then attended Florida Southern College and received his B.A. degree in journalism in 1946. He was the sports editor and then managing editor for The Malone Telegraph, where he was employed from 1955 to 1985. He was a lifetime member of the Centenary United Methodist Church of Malone and locally attended Andrews Memorial United Methodist Church, N. Syracuse, and sang in their choir. He was a member and past president of Malone Central Schools Board of Education and was active in several area civic organizations. He received Malone's Sports Hall of Fame Award in 2000. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Ruth Graves, and three brothers and two sisters. Mrs Tyo was born November 25, 1913, in Syracuse, the daughter of Thomas A. and Margaret Isabelle Cullen DeCoursey. She attended Syracuse schools. While in Syracuse, she joined the Federal Theatrical Group and traveled with the Federal Varieties Group. On December 28, 1954, she married Jesse A. Tyo. Mr. Tyo, a truck driver and a custodian at Delaware School, Syracuse, died May 30, 1984. From 1943-1970, Mrs. Tyo was a machine operator at Kilian's Manufacturing Co. on Burnet Ave., Syracuse. After her retirement the couple moved to their Adirondack home in Keeseville. In 1989 she moved to Clayton to live with her sister, Jewell Anna Faust. Mrs. Tyo was Methodist, and she was affiliated with Bona Fide, the Hiawatha-Solvay Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her sister, Jewell Anna Faust, Clayton; several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and -nephews; two stepsons, Jesse A. Tyo Jr. and Charles V. Published in the Syracuse Post Standard on 1/1/2005. Zdep, Nell A. December 28, 2004 Nell A. Zdep, 88, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at Birchwood Health Care Center. Nell was born in Pittston, PA. She was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society Sacred HeartKofC 6282 Ladies Auxiliary, Catholic Women's Club and Downtown Ladies of Charity. She was an active member of the Syracuse Charter Chapter, American Business Women's Association and was honored as "Woman of the Year" in 1968. Nell was past president of American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA) Syracuse Chapter #29 and was honored by the Society as "Woman of the Year" 1976-1977. She has been a delegate to many ASWA conventions and served on many national committees. Nell was very active in civic and philanthropic organizations in the Syracuse area. Nell was an accountant for Karame Builders Ltd. and was also formerly employed by Catholic Social Services and the Bureau of Catholic Charities. Nell was predeceased by her husband Walter J. Zdep in 1990; her daughter, Lorraine Marie Zdep in 1955; sister, Anastasia Zdep; and brothers, Stanley and Joseph Zdep. Nell is survived by cousins, Alex Jeyschune of Flemington, NJ, and Donald Jeyschune of Toms River, NJ, and several nieces and nephews.
